Check out these beautiful new all wooden artworks at Sidewinder Coffee

There are a lot of really talented artists out there in the world. 😀☕️🖼️❤️

Winding down another work week.

I’m packing up my workspace and calling it a week. I’m heading home for a three-day weekend. They gave us Monday off for a holiday shopping day. And they gave us a nice holiday bonus for our shopping. So that’s pretty nice. 😀💻❤️

We got a very nice card in the mail with some new school pictures of my niece and nephew, Violette and Edgerton. Also included with the photos was this amazing little piece of art entitled, “Octopod for Shellington & Captain Barnacles”…

Awe. Some. Our refrigerator has a new piece of art. Taken with Instagram. 😀📝🐙❤️

You hold the key.

You Hold the Key is a community awareness and engagement campaign aimed to promote dialogue and inspire empathy around the issue of homelessness in Greater Cincinnati through public art.

Today, I saw some of the You Hold the Key artworks along Eighth Street on my way to pick up something for lunch…

ArtWorks transformed people and places through investments in creativity. Each year, ArtWorks employs local youth and professional artists to create community impact across our region. 2017 marks the 10th Anniversary of the ArtWorks mural program. They believe our city is a gallery and are proud of the 100+ murals in 37 Cincinnati neighborhoods and 7 nearby cities which celebrate our history, heroes and legends, to date.

ArtWorks is expanding its strategic focus to support the awareness and advancement of key regional issues by partnering with organizations working on the front-lines of these issues, to create community dialogue through art. ArtWorks’ social art practice hinges on the power of art and art-making to serve as a catalyst to promote health and wellness, spark conversation and invoke empathy.

Northside nubs.

When we stopped at Sidewinder to get coffee this morning, We were really liking these little paintings by artist, Greg Albert…

And on the way out, we noticed this sign for a new pizza restaurant opening down the street in the Chameleon

We can’t wait to check out their pizza. 😀☕️🖼️🍕❤️

Walking back down Court Street, I stumbled across one of the most amazing Artworks murals I’ve seen yet. It’s a mural paying homage to Cincinnati’s rich toy history

Cincinnati Toy Heritage celebrates “the legacy of Kenner Toys, a Cincinnati-based toy company founded in 1947, in this work of art which showcases some of the most popular toys that were designed by the company.” Artworks has done some amzing, incredible murals. It’s just really a shame I have to look at this one all day at work. :/

And on my way back to work, I noticed this crude little drawling on the side of one of the buildings on Walnut Street…

It’s nowhere near as elaborate as the Artworks mural but every bit as entertaining. 🙂

The Eduardo Kobra/Artworks mural on Walnut Street has been completed

Hands down, it’s one of my favorite Artworks murals. 🙂

Kobra in Cincy!

World-famous muralist Eduardo Kobra is turning the once bare facade of the Fifth Third Bank parking garage on Walnut Street into a public masterpiece. The mural pays tribute to Ohioan Neil Armstrong – whose “one giant leap for mankind” will forever be remembered as a moment of breathtaking awe. From ArtWorks website…

Neil Armstrong was a humble leader who inspired generations of students, explorers and innovators. Tune in over the next two weeks as Eduardo Kobra (fresh off of completing a record breaking mural for the Rio Olympics), works alongside Artworks local artists and youth Apprentices to bring his vision to life.

Everyday, my bus goes by this great Artworks mural on Back Street in Over-the-Rhine titled Brewing Heritage: Grain to Glass, designed by Jim Effler. It was created back in 2015. Everyday, I also get to stare at what I consider hands down the worst mural Artworks has ever executed. And it stares right back. Relentlessly. With so many great Artworks murals around like Mr. Dynamite, Ezzard Charles: The Cincinnati Cobra, Charley Harper’s Homecoming (Blue Birds), or my favorite: Martha, the Last Passenger Pigeon, it’s just very unfortunate that we got the really short end of the stick. :/

ArtWorks mural: Completed.

This morning they were finishing taking down the rest of the scaffolding across Eighth Street. It looks like The ArtWorks Elizabeth Nourse mural is finished…

To be honest, it’s looked finished to me for quite a while now. Over the last few weeks, there really haven’t been any real noticeable changes to the mural. I’m guessing it was a lot of final touches and little details. When I was leaving work this evening, I snapped this photo of the finished mural…

A lot of pretty talented people put in a lot of hard work to make this happen. 🙂
