MLS Commissioner Don Garber was in town today for a whirlwind day tour of Cincinnati to see the city and learn more about the hype surrounding FC Cincinnati…

The most noteworthy part of the whole visit was a town hall meeting held at OtR’s Woodward Theatre emceed by ESPN commentator and analyst Taylor Twellman. We watched the town hall meeting on FC Cincinnati’s YouTube channel. It seemed that MLS and Don Garber were definitely impressed and taking note of the movement that is happening in Cincinnati. And that Cincinnati is very much being short-listed and strongly considered for future MLS expansion. ORANGE AND BLUE PRESS had a great post with photos about Don Garber’s visit to Cincinnati

All I know is it was an incredible inaugural first season and we can’t wait to see what happens in 2017!

Apparently, the set is off to the right somewhere…

And it was another Habañero Burrito Monday

We saw another crazy painted car this morning when we stopped to get coffee at Sidewinder in Northside…

Ugh. :/

Super moon.

Here’s what tonight’s super moon looked like from our bedroom window…

The moon was every bit as bright as the streetlight. I took a couple of photos out of our window with my Polaroid Cube too…

🙂

Constructing Cincinnati.

The new parking garage and apartments on Sycamore between Seventh and Eighth Streets continue to rise higher and higher into the sky…

I forgot to walk over and see how the new Holiday Inn was looking over on Broadway Street. But the new hotel in The Banks has really been making a good deal of progress…

And the cutting-edge architectural wonder that was everybody’s least favorite parking garage on Fourth Street…

Now looks like this…

There’s always something new going up or coming down in downtown Cincinnati. 🙂

Obscure Cincinnati.

I saw this poster today for Obscure Cincinnati in downtown Cincinnati…

Obscure Cincinnati is an interactive art project by J. Miles Wolf.  Over 40 photographs can be viewed along a four-block route in Downtown Cincinnati.

Large-scale photographs fill the windows and doorways of nine buildings in Downtown Cincinnati as part of the biennial FotoFocus exhibition program Every photograph is visible from the street 24/7, and many are also visible while riding the streetcar Connector.

This public exhibit can be seen from the sidewalks within a short walking route starting at the CAC.  Obscure Cincinnati is interactive; use the QR codes to unlock additional clues and photographs, then read some history behind each photo or the photographic technique used to capture each image.  Viewers are encouraged to guess where each photograph was taken by playing the Obscure Cincinnati game.

Pretty neat stuff. I’ll have to walk the route to see the all photos and play the game really soon to see how well I know Cincinnati. 🙂

Little Free Library.

A house at the end of our street has a new Little Free Library in their front yard…

It’s pretty neat. I’m about to borrow that book on dinosaurs right there on the top shelf. 🙂

neuf.

I was walking to get lunch today and I when noticed some new signs in the window of what used to be Dynasty Chinese Restaurant on Main Street. It looks like Huit up on Court Street is opening a sister restaurant called neuf asian eatery …

It’s always nice when a new restaurant opens up right around the corner from work. I can’t wait to give it a try once it opens. And if it’s anything like Huit, you just know it’s going to be great. 🙂

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati 2016!

It’s that time of year again. Time for the largest Oktoberfest in all of America, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati. One of the most fun weekend’s of the entire year in downtown Cincinnati…

We used to love Oktoberfest weekend when we lived downtown. This was the first year it hasn’t been right outside our front door. It was also the first year of the new location for Oktoberfest Zinzinnati down in The Banks on Second and Third Streets to accommodate Cincinnati’s new streetcar CB Connector. After today’s Reds game, we wandered over to see what the new look Oktoberfest Zinzinnati actually looked like…

We found the Klaberheads…

GOETTA & CHEDDA!

Oktoberfest might have moved a couple blocks south but it’s still the same big fun. And being able to walk out your front door to Oktoberfest might be one of the few things I actually miss about living downtown. Thank goodness for the 17 bus and Uber. 🙂
