Polaroid Cube.

I picked up a little Polaroid Cube. Because why not buy another camera? But the Cube is pretty cool. It’s a little POV action cam kind of like a GoPro with a 124° wide-angle lens that records 6-megapixel photos and 1080p HD video on a 32gb memory card with a built-in battery that lasts up to 90 minutes of continuous action. It’s basically a wee pocket-sized 1.5″ cube with little more than a camera lens and one button. It doesn’t have a lcd screen. And that’s what I like about it. I’ll snap photos with the Cube all day long and at night plug it into my laptop and see what I got. It really reminds me of shooting with film…

And I’ve been getting some pretty interesting photos with the little Cube…

It’s been a lot of fun to play with so far. I can’t wait to take it with us up to Michigan. 🙂

Columbus Crew versus New York City FC.

Today, we went up to Columbus to watch the Crew SC take New York City Football Club. We got these tickets back in April with the hope of getting to see NYCFC’s big trio of international superstars… David Villa, Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard. We made our way up to the Comfort Suites which is just a short walk away from the Crew’s MAPFRE Stadium. We waited for a break in the rain and made our way over to the Stadium. As soon as we got to MAPFRE, the match was delayed due to severe weather. But after about a forty-five minute delay, the match was about to kick-off…

Our seats for the match were great. It was a pretty incredible match that ended in a 3-3 draw. David Villa, Pirlo and Lampard all started and played the whole match! Lampard had NYCFC’s first goal, and David Villa netted a brace including a penalty in the 90+2′. And then Crew’s Ethan Finlay netted his second goal, an equalizer in the 90+5′! There were four goals scored in the final 10 minutes plus stoppage time! Like I said, it was a pretty incredible match. And we managed to get some pretty decent photos of the match including some great close-ups of some a lot of the players including NYCFC’s big three. After the match we got Pepperoni Rolls from The Pizza Joint. Those things alone are worth the drive to Columbus. YUM! And then Sunday morning we drove in the rain all the way back to Cincinnati. 🙂

Happy birthday, FC Cincinnati!

A year ago today, it was announced that Cincinnati was getting a professional soccer team. Later that evening, we got to meet FC|C head coach and US soccer legend John Harkes. And the rest is history. It’s been a pretty amazing year of soccer in the Cincinnati. FC|C currently sit third in the USL eastern conference. They hold the single game USL attendance record at 23,375, and the single game attendance record in the state of Ohio for their match versus Crystal Palace at 35,061. And they continue to raise the bar on the USL season attendance record. We love it! It’s an exciting time to live in the Queen City. Happy birthday, FC Cincinnati! We couldn’t be happier to have a professional soccer team that we love in our hometown. 🙂

50,000.

Six years ago, I found a little app called Foursquare. And I loved my Foursquare. The check-in game portion of Foursquare spun off and became was is now Swarm. Today,
I logged my 50,000th check-in on Swarm…

I still really like my check-ins!:)

Kobra in Cincy!

World-famous muralist Eduardo Kobra is turning the once bare facade of the Fifth Third Bank parking garage on Walnut Street into a public masterpiece. The mural pays tribute to Ohioan Neil Armstrong – whose “one giant leap for mankind” will forever be remembered as a moment of breathtaking awe. From ArtWorks website…

Neil Armstrong was a humble leader who inspired generations of students, explorers and innovators. Tune in over the next two weeks as Eduardo Kobra (fresh off of completing a record breaking mural for the Rio Olympics), works alongside Artworks local artists and youth Apprentices to bring his vision to life.

Really cool stuff! A public dedication will be held on Sunday, August 21 at 2 pm. 🙂

Commemorative Streetcar Tokens.

The Cincinnati Streetcar‘s grand opening weekend is set for September 9th through 11th. This afternnon, I picked up a couple of the super-special, limited-edition 2016 Commemorative Streetcar Tokens from The Bus Stop in the Mercantile Center…

The tokens are good for unlimited rides for the first week of revenue service. But I think these tokens will be staying in their packaging. These are going to be great souvenirs of the dawn of the Cincinnati Streetcar era. 🙂

Northside nubs.

Just some random photos from around Northside…

A new Bay Horse Cafe?

Back in May, we walked by what used to be the old Bay Horse Cafe on Main Street, and it looked like they were working on the exterior of the building. I snapped this photo but really didn’t think much more about it…

Today, I happened to walk by again. First, I noticed a new coat of paint on the outside…

And happened to look inside to see there had been considerable work done…

Could Main Street be getting another new bar soon? If it does, I certainly hope they bring back that incredible old skool Bay Horse Cafe sign that hung over Main Street for who knows how many years. The sign that apparently and rather surprisingly, I never took a photo of or if I did, I can’t figure out what I would have done with it. 🙂

Thank you, CityBeat!

This afternoon I ran out to get my hair cut. On my way back to the office, I stopped by the offices of CityBeat at Race and Ninth Streets…

They had two gift cards for me to pick up. First, a  $25 gift certificate to The Cricket Lounge in The Cincinnatian Hotel downtown for a photo I took during Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week, and another $25 gift card to Sammy’s Craft Burgers
& Beers
in Blue Ash for a photo I took during Cincinnati Burger Week

A huge thank you to CityBeat for the gift cards! They are greatly appreciated. It’s really pretty cool to have events like GRC Week and Cincy Burger Week, and be able to take advantage of the great deals they bring. Well… we just love it. But it’s a whole other thing to get rewarded for something we would have done anyway. Take photos. For that, we are very grateful. We can’t wait to put these gift cards to good use! And of course, we’ll post the photos. Thanks again, CityBeat! 🙂

Lazy Sundays.

Lazy Sundays around the house are the best. We watched a bunch of Olympics. Grilled up a bunch of good stuff. And later in the evening mowed the front and back lawn.

Taken with Instagram. 🙂
