Ciderfest.

This afternoon we hopped on the Metro 17 bus to head down in Over-the-Rhine to visit the Christian Moerlein Malt House Taproom. Christian Moerlein Brewing Company and Over-The-Rhine Cider Company teamed up to put together a hard cider sampling event today called as Ciderfest. And you know, we love our ciders. OtR Cider Company has two hard ciders, Original and Crisp. They collaborated with neighborhood bars and restaurants to create fourteen one-of-a-kind limited release ciders infused with various ingredients to be sampled this afternoon…

Our favorite out of all of the different flavors was the probably the Strappleberry. But there were a lot of really good ones.

After sampling all the infused ciders, we had a Moerlein Helles and a giant Bavarian pretzel with brown mustard and beer cheese…

It was a really fun event at a place we don’t really get to all that often. 🙂

Porkopolis Pig & Whiskey Festival.

It was hard to believe that today was already the first day of October…

We rode the 17 bus downtown to the Porkopolis Pig & Whiskey Festival. Last year, it took place on Horseshoe Casino’s event lawn, and was really a lot of fun. This year’s 2nd annual Pig & Whiskey Festival took place at Washington Park. And I have to say when we walked up, we were a little underwhelmed…

The sizeable event lawn at Washington Park kind of swallowed the event whole…

But we had some time to kill before the start of the Reds game, so we got some tickets and soldiered on for some BBQ and whiskey…

First, we tried whiskey infused with sake. A bold new liquor experience bringing the best of East meets West from Karate Cowboy

They were offering a couple of different cocktails. A pineapple mule…

And a honey cran apple cider…

So we tried one of each. Both were absolutley delightful…

We also tried a root beer flavored bourbon from Rebel Yell

For food, we started with The Pockey from Huit…

Asian style ground pork with Chihuahua Cheese rolled in a flour torilla, deep fried and sauced with Huit’s house made sweet sambai…

Delicious and surprisingly filling. And we shared some really incredible St. Louis style ribs from Just Q’in…

Amazing ribs. The meat fell right off the bone. I was also going to get some burnt ends from Velvet Smoke BBQ but we couldn’t find the room to put them away…

So we got a Jack Tennessee Fire and Canadian Dry instead, which is a delicious cocktail…

And the Met Life Blimp was hovering over Washington Park the whole time…

Pig & Whiskey was definitely more fun last year. But we got to sample some alcohols we wouldn’t have normally got to try. We definitely want to add both Karate Cowboy flavors, and the Rebel Yell root beer bourbon to our home bar reserves. And whenever you get to hang out at Washington Park and gaze at Music Hall, it’s never a bad afternoon…🙂

The CB Connector to Findlay Market.

After getting my hair cut at Rooster’s in Queen City Square, I hopped on the
CB Connector to ride up to Findlay Market to get lunch again today…

And there we are at Findlay Market in a jiffy…

I finally got us one of those little waving, lucky cats at the Saigon Market…

This space could be made into something really cool…

My photo didn’t do it justice at all.

Oktoberfest is this weekend. I like this year’s posters…

I decided to get chicken yellow curry and an egg roll from Mimi’s Gourmet Egg Rolls & Curry Bowls for lunch…

Speaking of egg rolls, look at the size of Mimi’s Big Monster Eggroll…

Whoa. Egg Rolls as big as your head! Then with curry bowl and egg roll in tow, I hopped back on the Connector to ride back down to the office…

Thanks for the ride, Connector…

I didn’t even realize that I was on the Rhinegeist branded Connector…

The curry was delicious, and so was the egg roll! So much food. And most of these photos were taken with my Polaroid CUBE. 🙂

CB Connector, part two.

I rode the CB Connector up to Taft’s Ale House to get lunch with a bunch of coworkers today…

Good times. This streetcar thing is pretty cool. 🙂

Hello, CB Connector.

Cincinnati finally got to ride all over downtown and Over-the-Rhine on it’s brand new streetcar CB Connector all weekend long. Social media was chuck full of photos and videos of people’s experiences on the Connector. Today, it was my turn. I got to ride it for myself for the first time this afternoon. I hopped on the Connector at Main and Eighth Streets just outside of Deskey…

By the time it got to Twelfth Street, I had the COnnector pretty much to myself…

I took this little video clip with my Instagram

I got off the Connector at the Findlay Market stop on Elm Street…

I just wanted to get a Bahn Mi sammich from Pho Lang Thang

With sammich in hand, I walked over to wait for the Connector at the Findlay Market stop on Race Street…

And like clockwork, there was the Connector…

I rode the Connector down Race Street passed Washington Park…

I decided to ride the Connector all the way back around to where I first got on at Main and Eighth Streets. At Fountain Square, I started taking this video with my Polaroid CUBE…

Apparently, you can only take a five minute long video. And that’s fine because it’s not all that interesting. At all. Here’s another much shorter video of the Connector rolling passed Great American Ball Park…

And I’m back where I started at Main and Eighth…

I think I was going for about 45 minutes or so, give or take. Next time, I’ll pay more attention to what time it is when I leave. And here’s my Korean BBQ Bahn Mi sammich from Pho Lang Thang…

I have to admit. It was pretty cool to be able to hop on the Connector to ride up to Findlay Market to get a delicious sammich. Even when we lived downtown, we never really got up to Findlay Market all that much. Now I can see myself taking the Connector up to Findlay Market to grab a sammich, a gelato or pick up something to bring home for our dinner. Coworkers are already talking about taking the Connector to Taft’s Ale House for lunch or Rhinegeist for drinks after work. It’s cool how it makes downtown seem even easier to navigate than it already was.  The Cincinnati Bell Connector is pretty A-okay with me. 🙂

Tag! You’re it.

Everyday, my bus goes by this great Artworks mural on Back Street in Over-the-Rhine titled Brewing Heritage: Grain to Glass, designed by Jim Effler. It was created back in 2015. Everyday, I also get to stare at what I consider hands down the worst mural Artworks has ever executed. And it stares right back. Relentlessly. With so many great Artworks murals around like Mr. Dynamite, Ezzard Charles: The Cincinnati Cobra, Charley Harper’s Homecoming (Blue Birds), or my favorite: Martha, the Last Passenger Pigeon, it’s just very unfortunate that we got the really short end of the stick. :/

The City Flea: June edition.

We missed The City Flea’s first appearance of the season back in May due to the weather being so unpredictable. I don’t think it ever actually rained. But it looked like it was about to starting pouring at any second all day long. Today was a really warm one with nothing sun and blue skies as far as the eye could see. So we headed up to Washington Park for the June edition of The City Flea

I love each and every one of these hand-knit critters from For Lula Girl

And their yarn-bombed bicycle was really pretty cool too…

Our backyard is definitely going to need some garden gnomes once we get moved in…

Totes McGoats…

It’s always for fun to wander through The City Flea. And this one was no exception. 🙂

Click to see all the photos I’ve taken at The City Flea throughout the years.

Second Sunday on Main: June edition.

Today was the first Second Second on Main of the season. SSoM is OtR’s eclectic monthly street festival on Main Street. It’s hard to believe but SSoM is entering it’s 11th year of Sunday Fundays!

We stopped into Lucca, who were celebrating their one year anniversary. Such cute stuff…

And I loved this painting at Urban Eden…

It started to look like it might storm…

But it didn’t. A drop or two and then the storm clouds blew right over. We found the home of OtR’s new florist, Gia & The Blooms

And we hope these guys are back in for the July SSoM…

We’d definitely like to check out their jerk! We didn’t get a chance to check them out today.

It was another great SSoM! July’s edition of  Second Sunday on Main will take place on Sunday, July 10 with the theme of MAINpride –  featuring the annual Drag Races and more, presented by Below Zero Lounge. A very appropriate celebration of all things pride in the wake the horrific tragedy that just took place in Orlando. 😦
