FC Cincinnati versus Columbus Crew.

So here we are. The inaugural MLS Hell is Real derby between our FC Cincinnati and Columbus Crew. The two teams first met back in 2017 during FC|C’s magical US Open Cup run when Djiby headed Cincy to a 1-0 victory. The teams met for the first time in MLS play two weeks ago and played to a 2-2 draw. Fast forward to today and it’s the first MLS edition of the Hell is Real derby match at Nippert Stadium…

And here we go…

And FC Cincinnati was down 3-0 after just fifteen minutes…

Someone must have tried really hard to get drunk on some free samples of warm, non-alcoholic Heineken 0.0, or they just really liked the taste…

The final score was 3-1 to the Crew. Apparently, Ohio is black and gold. 😐⚽️❤️

Sunday funday.

We went grabbed an Uber down to The Banks this afternoon to go watch our Reds play Sunday afternoon baseball against the Cardinals. It was our fourth Reds game of the season. We were meeting up with Geri, Cleve, Alyssa and their baby, Pippa. When we down to The Banks, we found there was a whole festival going on…

It turns out it was the Cincy Celtic Fest. We hung out there for a second, and then we went into Great American Ball Park to watch our Reds. We had tickets up in the Fioptics District again. I think it’s our favorite section in the whole ballpark…

Usually, we don’t go up into the Fioptics District. We usually just watch the game from the Fioptics terraces. But today, we didn’t the upstairs. And that’s fine. It was pretty warm out and the upstairs had plenty of shade and a nice breeze…

And we got free pizza again…

It was a good game. The Reds snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory to lose 5-4…

I’m really at getting everyone together for group photos at things like this. For whatever reason, it’s just something I never really think about until everyone has gone their separate ways, and then it’s like, “I should have taken a group photo. Dang.” I’ll have to work on that.

After the game, we went back to Aster to wait for the Uber prices to drop…

And then we went home. It was another really fun Sunday. 😀🇮🇪⚾️🥃❤️

FC Cincinnati versus NYCFC.

Today, our FC Cincinnati played host to New York City Football Club. Before the match, we stopped at Mac’s Pizza Pub for pizza and boneless chicken wings…

And then we headed over to Nippert Stadium for the match…

Back in the day, they had some really big-name, international superstar players like David Villa and Andrea Pirlo and I suppose to a lesser degree, Frank Lampard…

But to be honest with you, I couldn’t name one player from this current NYCFC squad…

FC Cincinnati jumped out to a 1-0 lead…

It should have been a 2-0 lead, but FC Cincinnati had a penalty saved. And then NYCFC rattled off 4 unanswered goals…

And NYCFC would go on to defeat FC|C 4-1.

Thankfully, there are just five more home games in this very long inaugural MLS season of FC Cincinnati soccer. 😀⚽️❤️

Four years ago.

Four years ago today, it was announced that Cincinnati was getting it’s very own USL professional soccer team, and that team would be called FC Cincinnati…

And then we got to meet US soccer legend, John Harkes…

Reds baseball game #3.

Tonight, we went to our third Reds game of the season. Genifer’s financial advisor, Courtney and her boyfriend Mike were in Cincinnati for the evening. And they took us to out to GABP to see the Reds take on Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I don’t think we’ve ever seen the Angels play before at GABP…

It was a beautiful night for baseball…

Mike got us tickets out in center field so we could have a good view of the Trout…

We never sat out in center field before. I was neat to get to see the ballpark from a new vantage point. But the setting sun was pretty brutal at the start of the game…

There he is…

The best player in all of baseball, Mike Trout…

The Reds hung five on the Angels in the first inning including a ball that Jose Peraza hit that looked like it was coming right towards us only to hit off the top of the center-field wall. I went back and watched the replay. And if you look really close you can see us…

Reds ace Luis Castillo was pitching for the Reds…

And he threw a gem. Luis Castillo struck out a career-best 13 batters through seven innings, and got us all free pizza!

And Mike Trout hit a bomb into the upper deck just above us…

And this one belonged to the Reds, 7-4!

What a great night at GABP! A big thanks to Courtney and Mike for taking us out to the ballgame! It was pretty incredible to get to see Mike Trout and Luis Castillo do Mike trout and Luis Castillo things. 😀⚾️❤️

FC Cincinnati versus Vancouver Whitecaps.

Tonight, FC Cincinnati (last place in Eastern Conference) played host to Vancouver Whitecaps (second to last place in the Western Conference) at Nippert Stadium…

FC Cincinnati is getting pretty difficult to watch…

They are just really bad. And tonight, second to last place beat last place 2-1. 🙁⚽️❤️

Take me out to the ballgame.

This afternoon we went to the Sunday Reds game against the Colorado Rockies, or as we like to call it, baseball church. It was our second Reds game of the season after we were rained out on the second game of the season…

We stopped to look at our Reds All-Star Legacy brick…

Next time we come down to a Reds game, we’re going to have to bring a little scrubber and some water to clean our brick. But it was great to be back with our friends at Great American Ball Park…

It sure was a beautiful day for baseball…

Yasiel Puig…

He’s really quickly become one of my very favorite Reds. After his at-bat, we moved down to the gap…

And then down to the right-field line…

Someone had already lost one of the stickers from their Joey Votto Fathead…

And we moved out underneath the PNC Power Stacks in center field…

And back up to the gap…

And this one belongs to the Reds!

It was great to be back at the ballpark. 😀⚾️❤️

UPDATE: I was really bummed to find out this morning that @Reds traded away Yaisel Puig. I was hoping that he would be in Cincinnati for many, many seasons. It’s the first time a quite a while that I actually feel sad about a Reds player leaving Cincinnati after being traded. I’ll definitely miss Puig’s larger than life personality and his passion for the game. He made baseball in Cincinnati really fun again. ⚾️😥💪💯

UPDATE: Don’t even get me started on the Reds trading Scooter Gennett to the Giants for a player to be named later. 😭 Taken with Instagram.

FC Cincinnati versus Wayne Rooney.

This evening FC Cincinnati played host to Wayne Rooney and DC United. It was the other match that we were kinda excited about this season because of who was going to be on the pitch tonight at Nippert Stadium. They were handing out terrific
little FC Cincinnati away jersey rally towels before today’s match…

And that’s pretty cool because I really have a thing for rally towels. I love them…

The match was being televised on ESPN as the Match of the Week or something and that meant there were cameras everywhere…

It was a white-out at Nippert Stadium for today’s match…

All of a sudden it made sense why they were giving out white away jersey rally towels. And there he is…

The man. The Myth. The Legend…

Wayne Rooney…

I was also rather surprised at how many people brought their Wayne Rooney jerseys to the match in hopes that Wayne would sign them…

He didn’t sign one of them. In fact, he didn’t even look it their direction…

At halftime, FC|C honored Cincinnati native and World Cup champion, Rose Lavelle…

So that was pretty neat to see Rose Lavelle…

And that was that. DC United won 4-1 and Wayne Rooney one-upped Zlatan and scored at Nippert Stadium. After the match was mercifully over, we stopped at Penn Station for sammiches while we waited for the Uber prices to stop surging…
