Postcards.

JJVE sent us some terrific postcards from their big road trip adventure…

Violette sent us some amazing artwork on the back of her postcard…

Edgerton’s was channeling his inner minimalist with some random letters and a couple of little frowny faces…

Jeannette explained it to us on Instagram…

“He {Edge} is not as committed to his drawn art as Violette. Note the sad face on Thadd and Genifer’s card. That is because he was tired of drawing. He wanted to “say things” instead. I wrote what he said. Fragments. Lists of nouns. Thoughts. It worked well for him, otherwise, we were going to be sending a bunch of postcards with sad faces. And it would’ve involved real Edgie tears too. 😄”

We love getting postcards. 😀💌📮📬❤️

Are you ready for some football?

NFL is back in action. We walked down to Second Place to watch the Bengals game…

To celebrate the start of another season of impending disappointment, Second Place was hosting a Bengals Tailgate Kick-Off Party complete with a cookout…

All the proceeds from the cookout were donated to help those suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey down in Houston. What a delicious way to help…

We were sitting next to the popcorn machine at watching the popcorn pop was way more exciting than the Bengals game…

The Bengals were playing the Ravens. In Cincinnati. And of course, the Bengals lost their opening game of the season, 20-0. The Ravens picked off Bengals QB Andy Dalton FOUR times and forced him to fumble as well. The Red Rider BB gun, ladies, and gentleman. The Bengals are about as good at football as they are at math…

Welcome back football! Thank goodness we’re Cowboys fans! 😀🏈❤️

Taft’s Brewporium.

When we lived downtown, we used to love going to Taft’s Ale House down in OtR, even though we didn’t get there as often as we would like. When we moved to Northside, we noticed that Taft’s had a huge warehouse at the corner of Spring Grove and Mitchell Avenues. We hoped that they had a taproom but no such luck. The warehouse space was just a canning and distribution center. Fast forward a year or so and come to find out that Taft’s is indeed finally opening a tap room in the warehouse. And today was the soft opening of the new Taft’s Brewporium just down the street in Spring Grove Village….

It’s a huge space…

Complete with shuffleboard…

All our Taft’s favorites were on tap…

Taft’s Brewporium also serves food, mainly New Haven-style pizzas. From what I’ve read, New Haven-style pizza is a cross between old-world Neapolitan and New York-style pizza. It uses coal-fired ovens to create a thin, crispy, lightly charred crust. Hey, pizza is pizza. Let’s give it a try…

We couldn’t resist starting with some loaded tots as well…

And we got a 10″ pepperoni pizza. It was delicious!

And with that, we were stuffed. The official Grand Opening for Taft’s Brewporium is next Saturday. It sounds like a pretty fun event…

Great beers. Great pizzas and tots. Great place. We’ll definitely be back very soon!

Taft’s Brewporium is a terrific addition to the neighborhood! 😀🍺🍕❤️

Fusian Friday.

Work was crazy busy today and I didn’t get a chance to get any lunch. As soon as work was over and all the day’s fires were put out, I used Fusian’s handy app to place a to-go order so I could bring home some delicious Fusian sushi for dinner tonight…

When I got over to Sixth Street, my order was waiting for me all set to go…

The hardest part was sitting next to all that yummy sushi on the bus ride home and not being to dig in…

Genifer got a California roll. And I got Shrimp tempura…

And spicy tuna…

YUM! 😀🍣❤️

Higher Gravity: Meet the Brewery.

After work, I met Genfier at Hoffner Park…

So we could go to Higher Gravity...

They were having a 50 West tap takeover this evening…

And 50 West brewers were on hand to answer any questions…

It was pretty great to get to try some different 50 West beers right in our backyard. We really like Higher Gravity a lot. It’s one of our favorite spots in Northside. 😀🍺🍻❤️
