Reds baseball game #6.

Tonight, Genifer and I went to see our sixth game of this Reds season. They were playing the Cleveland Indians in the final game of the battle for the Ohio Cup. The Reds got destroyed the first two games up in Cleveland, getting outscored 28-7.  And they lost last night 8-7 in 12 innings. We were thinking that we’d just skip this series and go to the game on Sunday against the Mariners until Allison called to see if we’d like to use her family’s season tickets. And we jumped at the opportunity to sit in the second row, directly behind the Indians dugout. It’s been a while since we’ve sat in those seats. And both times were to see the Cubbies play

Tim Adleman had to leave the game early…

Joey Votto went yard…

There was a really big, almost full moon tonight…

The Reds ended getting swept by the Indians in the four-game Battle for the Ohio Cup…

Win or lose. It’s always fun to go hang out at the ballpark. Especially in those seats!

Thanks again, Allison! 🙂

Downtown details.

Taken this morning on our walk with Oscar. 🙂

Happy birthday, Shannon!

Today is my sister’s birthday! Happy birthday, Shannon!

We love you and we hope you had a very wonderful special day! 🙂

US Open Cup: FC Cincinnati versus Indy Eleven NPSL.

The US Open Cup. It’s the oldest ongoing soccer competition in American soccer, and the third-longest-running in the world. Currently it’s in its 103rd edition. Contested by more than 90 clubs from the three professional leagues sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, including Major League Soccer, North American Soccer League and United Soccer League, as well as amateur clubs in the earlier rounds of the tournament. It’s a chance for the smaller clubs to take their shot at the big boys through a single-elimination knock-out tournament. Tonight, FC Cincinnati played it’s first US Open Cup match hosting Indy Eleven NPSL at Nippert Stadium…

The supporters groups started to file into The Bailey…

Here we go…

Penalty!

GOOOOOAL!!! 1-0 FC Cincinnati!

Indy Eleven NPSL pulled one back to level the game at one all…

After the goal, Indy supporters set off one of the biggest smoke bombs I’ve ever seen…

At half, it was still 1-1…

I guess that sprinkle donut is going to be a regular fixture at halftime…

The second half was about to start…

FC Cincinnati had a free kick in a dangerous spot just outside the box…

But couldn’t capitalize.

GOOOOOAL!!! Finally. 2-1 FC Cincinnati!

FC Cincinnati had a third goal disallowed for some reason. The match ended 2-1 to FC Cincinnati. FC Cincinnati really should have had at least 4 or 5 goals if they could have taken more of their chances. There were a bunch of great team moves that they just couldn’t finish and put in the back of the net. But the important thing is they won. And advance to the next round of the tournament…

FC Cincinnati moves on to the next round of the US Open Cup where they’ll face the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the NASL on June 1 at 7:30pm. 🙂

Hello, DirecTV Blimp.

I saw the DirecTV Blimp floating around high above downtown Cincinnati from my office window at work…

And then we saw it again this evening when we were out walking Oscar…

Pretty neat stuff. It’s been a while since we last saw the Blimp. 🙂

Magic Crescent Rolls.

Genifer made Magic Crescent Rolls for breakfast this morning…

Tastes like my childhood. 🙂

Downtown details.

Sixth Street. 🙂

Taft’s Ale House.

After Asian Food Fest, we walked up Race Street….

To go to Taft’s Ale House

While we were there, we had to get some smoked wings with tots and beer cheese…

And on the way home, we saw the Streetcar out and about…

🙂

Asian Food Fest.

We walked up to Washington Park to check out the 6th annual Asian Food Fest

We started our Asian Food Fest with a couple of Sapporo’s…

We got tried some very interesting Kimchi Poutine…

And we got some crab rangoons…

I love crab rangoons! Of course, we remembered to take a photo after we had already eaten three or four of them. And the Vietnamese empanadas we ordered were also devoured before we remembered to snap a photo. :/

Asian Food Fest is fun! Even more fun at Washington Park. Remember when it used to be in The Banks? 🙂

FC Cincinnati versus Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

Tonight, we went up to Nippert Stadium with Cleve & Alyssa to take in FC Cincinnati’s fourth home match of the season. FC Cincinnati was playing host to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, and they were having on Orange Out for tonight’s unveiling of FC|C’s new predominantly orange alternate third kit…

FC Cincinnati named some of the Bengal’s star players honorary captains for the match to further the Cincinnati-Pittsburgh sport rivalry…

This is one of my favorite parts of every match, where the teams come out of the tunnel and onto the pitch…

The Bailey unveiled their tifo for today’s match…

Elvis. “You ain’t nothing but a river dog.” Quality stuff.

Kickoff! Here we go…

The Bailey sat for the 16th minute in honor of the 16 Real Madrid fans who were murdered in Iraq by ISIS this week. The 16th minute of today’s match was also a moment of silence throughout the entire stadium…

Goosebumps.

GOOOOOOAL! CINCINNATI!

That Sprinkle donut was back again at halftime…

And the moment everyone was waiting for, tonight’s match attendance. It was announced before the match that over 20,000 tickets had been sold

For the second time, FC Cincinnati set a new USL single game attendance record!

And at full-time, Cincinnati 1 Pittsburgh 0!

Another great match in a truly amazing atmosphere! FC Cincinnati broke their own USL attendance record. They had more people at their match than all but one MLS match including the Columbus Crew, who they outdrew by over 7000 supporters. FC|C is averaging 17,462 in attendance through 4 games, and the Crew is averaging 16,383 through 4 games. And on top of all that, FC|C moved into a tie for second place in the USL’s Eastern Conference! There’s something pretty incredible happening right now in Cincinnati! And we’re thrilled to be right in the middle of it! 🙂 #23375

FC Cincinnati’s next home match is on Wednesday, May 18th versus Indy Eleven of NPSL in the US Open Cup. Kickoff is at 7pm. See you there!
