Good morning from Northside.

Good morning from Northside. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„β€οΈ

We ate this.

Genifer made chocolate chip banana bread…

And we had chili mac with garlic bread for dinner…

And it was all very delicious. But the banana bread was better than the child mac.

Working from home: Day 27.

By my estimation, this is my 27th day working from home. I feel like I’ve really been hitting my stride, developing a really good rhythm and a great routine. And our little home office is becoming more and more functional every day….

It’s not too bad sitting here and working all day…

Not too bad at all. πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ’»β€οΈ

Pause for paws.

We took Mack back to the vet this morning to have the doctor look at his hurt paw. The doctor said everything looked good. They rewrapped it and sent us home with some more medicine for his paw. We get to remove the bandages from his paw on Tuesday.

When we got home, Mack was hanging out in the office with me while I was working and he was shivering so I covered him up with a blanket…

And he went right back to sleep without any shivers. I think he likes hanging out in the office with me. πŸ˜€πŸΎπŸ’€β€οΈ

Conference Call Bingo.

Someone in the Grey New York office put together this conference call bingo sheet…

It’s funny because it’s true. πŸ˜€πŸ’»β€οΈ

Google Nest Wifi.

We get our wifi through Cincinnati Bell. We have a 500mbps plan. In theory, it should be pretty fast. It’s worked really well for us. But then again, we haven’t really pushed it too hard. With all the working at home for the last few weeks, I’m always downloading and uploading pretty sizeable files, and our wifi has struggled to keep up especially when it comes to all the video conferencing for meetings. We decided to replace our Cincinnati Bell provided router and try a router and point for Google Nest Wifi

I’m a designer, not an IT professional so I don’t completely understand all of this. But a traditional, single router provides relatively limited coverage. It becomes spotty the farther away you are from it. Google Nest wifi claimed to blanket the whole house in fast, reliable wifi that keeps buffering at bay without the need for wifi extenders. One Nest router with one point provides coverage up to 3800 square feet. The white one is the router and the blue one is the point…

The website said it’s strong enough to handle up to 200 connected devices (I need more devices) and it’s fast enough to stream multiple 4K videos at a time. We put the router in our front bedroom on the second floor…

And we placed the point down the hallway in our office…

And each Nest point is also a smart speaker with the Google Assistant. The wifi set-up was ridiculously easy through the Google Home app. And now are internet speeds are off the charts. This the speed test from Google Home…

But I mainly use an app called Meteor to check our internet speeds. This is what our speeds were with our old router from Cincinnati Bell…

And these are our speeds with the Google Nest wifi router and point…

And here’s the speed mid-morning when everyone is on the network…

Night and day difference. Our wifi is so fast now. It’s really great. To me, Google Nest is definitely worth the money! And once we return the router to Cincinnati Bell, we’ll be saving $10 a month on our wifi bill. So eventually, the Google Nest wifi will pay for itself some day. πŸ˜€πŸ“‘β€οΈ

Genifer also got this new rug for our master bathroom…

I love it.

It’s hard to feel comfortable.

Oscar seemed like he couldn’t get comfortable this afternoon in the office…

And he ended up hanging out in Mack’s crate for most of the afternoon…

Sometimes it’s just hard to feel comfortable right now. πŸ˜€πŸΎβ€οΈ

Unless you’re Mack then you have no problem getting comfortable…

Here we go again.

It’s the start of week two of working from home. I wonder what Mack thinks of all this?

I wonder if he likes me being home all day, even though we just sit in the office all day. Or if he’s thinking, what are you still doing here? All I want to do is sleep. πŸ˜€πŸΎβ€οΈ

Today felt like spring.

Yesterday was the first day of spring. But today actually felt like spring. While I was working from home in our office, I had the windows open and there was such a really wonderful breeze. Mack kept standing on the step and looking out the window…

I’d try to get him to go outside and he would run upstairs to the third floor…

He’d just sit at the top of the stairs andΒ  look at me. I guess he just wanted to enjoy the breeze and look out the windows. Oscar hung out with Genifer all day. πŸ˜€πŸΎβ€οΈ

I really enjoyed my first week of working from home. Everything worked really well.
I think I could get used to this.

Pause for paws.

Oscar hung out in Mack’s crate all day today while we were in the office…

I guess he was thinking that since he never really has to go in a crate that he would hang out in one today. He’s a little silly head. πŸ˜€πŸΎβ€οΈ

Also working from home: Day 3 is in the books. It was another really successful, good day without any real problems.
