It’s what’s for dinner.

Last time Genifer went to the grocery, she got two more of the Kroger Prep+Pared meal kits. Tonight she made Corn&Black Bean Chilaquiles with roasted salsa…

It was another outstanding meal, particularly impressive because it was vegetarian. The best part was the crunchy tortilla strips that topped the dish. Those Kroger Prep+Pared meals are so good. We love them! 😀🌮❤️

Beau Brummell Face Wash.

For Christmas, Genifer got me a subscription to Birchbox. Every month, I get a box full of little samples of different men’s grooming products. There have been a lot of new brands that I’ve been turned on to, especially different colognes and hair products. But the one thing Birchbox hasn’t found me yet was a face wash that I really loved. Lucky for me, I got the chance to check out The Gentlemen’s Face Wash by Beau Brummell…

George Bryan Brummell, better known as Beau Brummell, was one of England’s most refined gentlemen from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. Born to a middle-class London family, Beau Brummell became a testament that elegance is a product of style and personality, as opposed to class and money. His fame began when he attained the rank of lieutenant in a prestigious cavalry regiment, where he became a close confidant of the future King, George IV.

His ambition was to revolutionize men’s fashion of the day and he is now credited with inventing the modern men’s suit, worn with a necktie. Beau simplified the custom of men wearing large, ornate clothing and ushered in the era of men wearing finely tailored fitted garments. This new age of men’s fashion became known as “dandyism.” Fast-forward to the twenty-first century and Brummell’s contributions to men’s style and modern elegance are still as relevant now as they were back then.

In addition to his timeless innovations in fashion, Beau famously spent nearly 5 hours a day on his grooming regimen. Following his lead, men throughout England (and later Europe) began the practice of shaving daily, bathing daily, and wearing fragrances. I don’t have five hours a day to spend on my grooming. But we’ll definitely give this a try and see how we like it…

For the Beau Brummell website:

The Gentlemen’s Face Wash offers an effective way to keep your skin clean and free of dirt and oils. Cleansing your face twice daily ensures your skin will maintain its youthful appearance. Rosemary oil and caffeine leave your skin feeling fresh and smooth, so you can stay handsome.

I was very excited to give this product a try. The fragrance is wonderful and it’s a deep green-grey color when it first comes out of the pump, which is surprisingly hard to photograph. When you lather it on your face, it gets very foaming and there a slight tingly sensation. Another added benefit of Beau Brummell’s Face Wash is it contains activated charcoal powder. They claim their face wash contains a heaping amount of the stuff, it’s why their product has that wonderful dark color. I’m no scientist but apparently, the charcoal absorbs and traps impurities from the surface of your skin and washes them away as you rinse your face. To read more about the benefits of activated charcoal, check out Beau Brummell’s blog post about why they use charcoal.

At the end of the day, I’ve found my new face wash. My search for a face wash is finally over. Some of these face washes I’ve seen on Birchbox have been pretty ridiculously priced. But at just $25 for an 8oz bottle, this is definitely a product that I’ll be ordering, over and over, to stay #BrummellFresh. And if you enter the code, MEETBEAU at checkout you can save $5 on your order. Thanks, Beau Brummell! 😀🚿❤️

Good morning from Northside.

Good morning from Northside. Taken with Instagram. 😀🌄❤️

Pause for paws.

Oscar is a creeper. Via Timehop. 😀🐾🦕❤

Slow down and grill.

We grilled out for the first time this season…

I’d forgotten just how good stuff tastes off the grill. YUM! 😀🍔🌭❤️

A new personal best.

I set another new personal best for points on my Swarm by eclipsing 3200 points in a week for the very first time…

And I’m off to a great start this week on Swarm, I had a 1000+ point Monday…

I still really love my Swarm. 😀⭐❤

Good morning from Northside.

Good morning from Northside. 😀🌄❤️

Chameleon Pizza is worth it.

We put in a lot of work on our front and back yards today. So as a reward for our hard work, we ordered a delicious half and half pizza and wings from Chameleon

And instantly, all the hard work was well worth it. 😀🍕🐔❤️

Our front yard.

The not-so-little little tree in our front yard has always had a pretty precarious lean to it. Come to find out, our neighbors called it The Leaning Tree of Northside…

We didn’t know what to do to try to rectify the situation. To try to get it to stand upright would be a long-term project and a more than likely a real chore. And if we could get it stand upright without the lean, it would hang into our neighbors driveway. It was really difficult to mow around because the branches were so low to the ground. And Genifer thought our not-so-little little tree was getting much too big for our little front yard because it blocked so much of the front of our house…

So this afternoon, we chopped down the not-so-little little tree in our front yard…

I got a little electric chainsaw from Lowe’s. We cut it down and chopped it up. And now our front yard is a blank canvas that we can make into more of what we had in mind…

Now we can replace the tree with little shrubs. I think the plan is to add stones in an L shape extending from our front path to where the tree used to be and then add some little shrubs along our front porch and one slightly larger shrub where the tree used to stand. It was odd to look at our OscarCam after we removed the tree. The cameras hadn’t updated the still photo on the home screen yet. Before removing the tree…

And after removing the tree…

Poor not-so-little little tree. It’s a shame someone did such a crappy job of planting you. 😦🌳❤️

FC Cincinnati versus Atlanta FC 2.

IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY THREE! FC Cincinnati was playing host to USL new boys Atlanta FC 2. We arrived at Nippert about 15 minutes into the start of FC|C’s match against AFC2 due to watching the running of the Kentucky Derby at Mac’s Pizza Pub…

But that’s okay, it had been raining all day anyway. But by the time we headed over to Nippert Stadium, the rain had just about stopped…

It was still 0-0 when we got to Nippert. So we really didn’t miss much of anything…

We had just reached our seats when FC Cincinnati opened the scoring

2-0 FC CINCINNATI!

And FC|C restored their two-goal lead, 3-1

At halftime, the score was 3-1 FC Cincinnati! That means it’s time for SPRINKLES!

Here we go…

FC Cincinnati added a fourth! 4-2!

And the match would end with victorious on the night with a massive 4-2 win!

What a great end to Cinco de Derby day! 😀⚽️❤️

UPDATE: With tonight’s win, FC Cincinnati leapfrogged Louisville City to sit all alone atop the USL Eastern Conference in first place. And ICYMI, Kenney Walker’s superb long-range effort midweek against Ottawa Fury finished number one on SportsCenter’s Top 10.

His goal also finished with the USL Goal of the Week honors for USL Week 7…

As if there was ever any doubt.
