We did a lot today.

Oscar was getting his hair cut today, so we were up pretty early on a Saturday morning before his grooming appointment…

Good morning from Northside…

Oscar’s appointment was set for 8am but we were running a bit early so we stopped at Biggby for coffees

And then it was back over to Petsmart in Oakley…

Oscar had gotten so fuzzy…

We kind of wanted to get him a haircut before we headed out to the coast but we just ran out of time. Sorry Oscar, today’s the day…

While we were sitting in the car, enjoying our Biggby and waiting for Petsmart to open, the sun started to rise above the horizon…

After we dropped off Oscar, we ran over to Lowe’s…

After we got some more Christmas lights, a new wreath and some odds and ends stuff, we headed over to Home goods in Rookwood…

We got the boys a bunch of new dog beds and some other stuff. And then we went next door to walk through T.J.Maxx…

While we were in T.J.Maxx, we got the call from Petsmart that Oscar was ready to be picked up…

And Oscar looked so handsome!

Western Michigan-Northern Illinois and Michigan-Penn State were both on at the same time. We put Western on the TV and Michigan on the tablet. I thought the Western game was going to be the one more worth watching…

Western beat Northern Illinois and Michigan lost. Again. After the games, I went out placed some holiday lights in our front yard along our bricks…

And then we went to pick up some hoagies from NYPD

Deliciousness. NYPD’s hoagies are out of this world.

Later, we took the dogs on their evening walk and the moon was huge…

Good evening in Northside…

As it started to get dark, we kept going outside to check out our lights…

And we finished putting the lights on our tree…

Genifer did amazing job with the holiday decorations inside the house…

We had a really good Saturday. We got a lot of stuff done today.

Later, we watched some Netflix and chose Hometown Holiday, which was a very bad, poor man’s version of a Hallmark Christmas movie and Falling Inn Love, which was actually really cute.

Long weekends are the best. 😀🌄🐾🛍️💡🎄❤️

Afternoon in our backyard.

It was so gorgeous outside this afternoon. The weather tablet in our office said it was an unseasonably warm 87º outside…

Oscar’s groomer was deemed non-essential when the closed all the Ohio businesses. He’s gotten so shaggy over the six weeks. And you could tell lately he’s just been really warm and uncomfortable…

So this afternoon we tried to give Oscar a haircut…

I’ve cut my hair twice so far during the stay home. It’s turned out pretty nice both times.
I thought, “How hard could it be to cut Oscar’s hair?”

It turns out that cutting Oscar’s hair is a lot harder…

I didn’t do a very good job. At all…

Dang. Sorry, buddy. I have a new respect for the amazing job Lauren at VCA College Hill does with Oscar.

Later, we fired up the grill again…

Those burgers were just out of this world. 😀🐾🍔🌭❤️

UPDATE: Oscar’s groomer has started to take appointments again starting May 13th and he has an appointment for Friday, May 15th. So he won’t have to be uncomfortable for much longer and maybe she can even out the mess I made of his coat.

Pause for paws.

We dropped Oscar off at VCA College Hill to get his haircut this morning. Here’s little Mister Oscar before his haircut…

And after…

Oscar is so handsome. 😀🐾❤️

Beau Brummell Face Wash.

For Christmas, Genifer got me a subscription to Birchbox. Every month, I get a box full of little samples of different men’s grooming products. There have been a lot of new brands that I’ve been turned on to, especially different colognes and hair products. But the one thing Birchbox hasn’t found me yet was a face wash that I really loved. Lucky for me, I got the chance to check out The Gentlemen’s Face Wash by Beau Brummell…

George Bryan Brummell, better known as Beau Brummell, was one of England’s most refined gentlemen from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. Born to a middle-class London family, Beau Brummell became a testament that elegance is a product of style and personality, as opposed to class and money. His fame began when he attained the rank of lieutenant in a prestigious cavalry regiment, where he became a close confidant of the future King, George IV.

His ambition was to revolutionize men’s fashion of the day and he is now credited with inventing the modern men’s suit, worn with a necktie. Beau simplified the custom of men wearing large, ornate clothing and ushered in the era of men wearing finely tailored fitted garments. This new age of men’s fashion became known as “dandyism.” Fast-forward to the twenty-first century and Brummell’s contributions to men’s style and modern elegance are still as relevant now as they were back then.

In addition to his timeless innovations in fashion, Beau famously spent nearly 5 hours a day on his grooming regimen. Following his lead, men throughout England (and later Europe) began the practice of shaving daily, bathing daily, and wearing fragrances. I don’t have five hours a day to spend on my grooming. But we’ll definitely give this a try and see how we like it…

For the Beau Brummell website:

The Gentlemen’s Face Wash offers an effective way to keep your skin clean and free of dirt and oils. Cleansing your face twice daily ensures your skin will maintain its youthful appearance. Rosemary oil and caffeine leave your skin feeling fresh and smooth, so you can stay handsome.

I was very excited to give this product a try. The fragrance is wonderful and it’s a deep green-grey color when it first comes out of the pump, which is surprisingly hard to photograph. When you lather it on your face, it gets very foaming and there a slight tingly sensation. Another added benefit of Beau Brummell’s Face Wash is it contains activated charcoal powder. They claim their face wash contains a heaping amount of the stuff, it’s why their product has that wonderful dark color. I’m no scientist but apparently, the charcoal absorbs and traps impurities from the surface of your skin and washes them away as you rinse your face. To read more about the benefits of activated charcoal, check out Beau Brummell’s blog post about why they use charcoal.

At the end of the day, I’ve found my new face wash. My search for a face wash is finally over. Some of these face washes I’ve seen on Birchbox have been pretty ridiculously priced. But at just $25 for an 8oz bottle, this is definitely a product that I’ll be ordering, over and over, to stay #BrummellFresh. And if you enter the code, MEETBEAU at checkout you can save $5 on your order. Thanks, Beau Brummell! 😀🚿❤️
