Thank you to all the brave men & women who protect and serve our great country.

Constructing Cincinnati.

I think the new apartment building atop the the new parking garage at the corner of Sycamore and Eighth Streets downtown has finally reached it’s pinnacle…

Between Sycamore Place, Seven at Broadway, East 8th Lofts, Renaissance and this building, that’s a lot of pretty pricey apartments in this little corner of downtown. It was fun to live downtown but I’m really thrilled we have our house. :\

Cyclones hockey game #2.

Tonight, we had tickets to our second Cyclones hockey game of the season at US Bank Arena…

We got to US Bank Arena right as the puck was dropping…

And just a couple of minutes after we were in out seats, the Cyclones took a one-nothing lead…

And the ‘Clones made it 2-0 just a few minutes later…

And that’s the way the period would end, 2-0 to the Cyclones…

3-0!

And the ‘Clones took a 4-0 lead! One more goal combined with a Cyclones win and we get free pizza!

After Reading pulled a goal back, the Cyclones netted their fifth goal of the game…

We stepped away to get a beer and use the restroom, when we got back to our seats, the score was now 5-3…

Ugh. 5-4…

The Cyclones tacked on another goal to extend the lead to 6-4…

Two goals down, the Royals pulled their goalie…

And right on cue, the Cyclones capitalized to net their 7th goal of the game…

And that’s how the game would end, 7-4 to our Cyclones!

It was another great evening of Cyclones hockey at US Bank Arena! We can’t wait to get our free pizza from Donato’s in the next couple of days!

Pause for paws.

Oscar. Taken with my Polaroid CUBE. 🙂

Good morning from Northside.

I was thinking after the time change we’d miss out on all the pretty sunrises we’d been getting to see from our bedroom window most mornings. But boy was I wrong. This morning’s sunrise was on the prettiest ones yet…

So good morning from Northside. Taken with Instagram. 🙂

Sunday Funday.

With the time change and the early morning North London Derby, we were up and moving surprisingly early this morning. After walking Oscar, we walked down Hamilton Avenue to The Littlefield for brunch…

Genifer had their Greek Omelet…

And I had the brunch special of the day, lamb and duck sausage with sweet potato biscuits, roasted mushrooms and over-easy egg…

It was such a delicious brunch. One of the best we’ve had in a minute. Afterwards, we checked on the progress of The Littlefield’s new bar next door called Second Place…

It looked like they were making progress. I can’t wait to check it out when it finally opens. It also looked like there’s something new going into to the old Tacocracy space on Hamilton Avenue but it was kinda hard to tell what they were doing…

We walked over Urban Artifact for a beer for a Milkman Maple Breakfast Stout

We found Waldo…

And we finally got to check out the upstairs event space at Urban Artifact…

It was another great Sunday Funday in Northside. 🙂

Happy North London Derby day!

Happy North London Derby day! COME ON YOU GUNNERS! Beat those spuds.
Taken with Instagram. 🙂

UPDATE: The match ended in a 1-1 draw. :/

Bistro Grace.

We night walked down Hamilton Avenue to have dinner at Bistro Grace. We’ve been wanting to eat dinner at Bistro Grace after enjoying their burgers as part of Cincinnati Burger Week

Genifer had their Grace burger, which was outstanding… And huge…

And I ordered the one of the specials which was shrimp and four cheese grits with beets and brussel sprouts…

And it was out of this world. I could eat that dish everyday and twice on Sunday. It was one of the best dishes I’ve had in a quick minute. Outstanding stuff. And Genifer said her burger was pretty out of this world too. We can’t wait to come back to Bistro Grace. 🙂

ps. There were also some really amazing architectural paintings on the walls of some various landmarks around Cincinnati by artist Mike Maydak. I particularly liked the one of Hamilton Avenue and the one of downtown Cincinnati. Good stuff.

The last sunrise.

This was likely the last sunrise we’ll see before the time change this weekend…

Not a big fan of the time change. At all. :/

Cyclones hockey game #1.

Tonight, we had tickets to our first Cyclones hockey game of the season

We hopped on the Metro 17 bus from Northside…

And in no time, we were down at US Bank Arena…

It was good to be back at US Bank Arena…

The view from our 12-game season ticket seats is pretty nice…

LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!

There were plenty of good seats still available…

At the end of the first period, the ‘Clones were up 2-0 on the Quad City Mallards…

The Cyclones got a new “zamboni” from that chicken place. The Twister, Porkchop and some fans ride around the ice for a couple of laps and throw out a few t-shirts. But strangely, no new ice is actually laid down…

And then the actual zambonis come out and resurface the ice. Back to hockey…

At the end of the second, it was 3-1 Cyclones…

And the Cyclones won 4-1!

We took an Uber home after the game, and our Uber bill was just 13¢ thanks to a $10 credit we had from last weekend. It was a great surprise ending to a great evening of Cyclones hockey! 🙂
