Good evening from Northside.

We were pretty tired after yesterday’s Superb Owl. It was a really good game, and that’s all you can really ask for when your teams didn’t make it to The Big Game™. And there were some pretty good commercials too.

What I don’t understand is why they have to start the game at 6:30 on a Sunday night. Why not start the game at 3 or 4pm? I also don’t understand why The Big Game™ is even on Sunday. If they can play the wild card playoff games on Saturday, why can’t the Superb Owl can’t be on Saturday as well? I think there’s even a petition to move the Superb Owl to Saturday.

Well, we watched the game last night, and now we’re pretty tired today. We walked the dogs and just went to bed…

Good evening from the top of the hill at the end of our street in Northside. 😀🌄❤️

Happy National Carrot Cake Day!

Today was National Carrot Cake Day. After work, I stopped at Caffe Barrista before Genifer picked me up. Genifer loves carrot cake so I brought home a couple of slices for us to enjoy this evening…

I wish all holidays were this delicious! 😀🥕❤️

Fantasy basketball update.

I’m playing Fantasy Basketball again this season…

Fifteen games into the season, I still have one undefeated team…

My God Shammgods team just lost their first match-up last week. And my other six teams all have winning records. 15-0, 2 teams at 14-1, 11-4, 10-5, 2 teams at 9-6 and an 8-7.

Fantasy basketball is pretty dang fun. 😀🏀❤️

A super Sunday.

It was gorgeous outside today for the second day of February. It was in the mid-60s and the sun was out. We took the dogs for a long walk this morning…

Later, we ran out to Walgreens to pick up a prescription where we saw this…

And on the way home, we stopped at Skyline to bring home lunch…

Genifer had a giant burrito…

I got three cheese coneys with extra mustard and no onions and a chilito…

And we shared a slice of red velvet cheesecake…

Later, we took the dogs on another long walk…

And had some snacks before The Big Game™…

Then we watched the Superb Owl. It was a pretty good game and a pretty auper Sunday. 😀🌄🐾🏈❤️

Happy Superb Owl Sunday.

HAPPY SUPERB OWL SUNDAY! We don’t have a goat in the fight this year. But we do have something to watch for during this year’s Big Game. The agency I work for has a long history of creating memorable commercials for the Superb Owl. But usually, they are produced by Grey’s office in New York City.

But this year, our Grey Midwest office produced the first Superb Owl commercial to ever come from an ad agency in Cincinnati. It’s been a huge secret from months, but now the big news can finally be shared. And where I didn’t get to work on the Superb Owl ad directly, I think it’s pretty cool to be able to say that I work at an agency that created an ad for the world’s largest stage.

What the team at Grey Midwest made was a first of its kind interactive choose-your-own-adventure commercial where America will choose the final cut.

Visit WhenWeComeTogether.com to begin the adventure.

Make sure you create your favorite version of the commercial and keep an eye out for the final version during the fourth quarter of The Big Game this evening!

Pretty dang cool. 😀🦉🏈🏆📺❤️

And check out some of the best Super Bowl commercials of all time.

Happy Palindrome Day!

Happy Palindrome Day! A palindrome is when you read today’s date the same forward and backwards. Today is 02.02.2020. And no matter how you write today’s date, it’s going to be a palindrome…

For the first time in over 900 years, we have a very rare eight digit palindrome day! The last time this happened was 11.11.1111. An eight-digit ubiquitous palindrome date will happen only 11 times in the years between 1000 and 9999: (01.01.1010 – 1010 years ago, 11.11.11 – 909 years ago, 02.02.2020 – well, today, and 12.12.2121 – in 101 years.)

Whoa! It’s crazy that this is the first global palindrome day in 909 years, and that the next one won’t happen for another 101 years.

If that wasn’t enough for us nerds, it’s also the 33rd day of 2020 with 333 days to go.
😀🗓️❤️

Happy Groundhog Day!

Happy Groundhog Day! This morning thousands of people gathered at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to watch the famous groundhog deliver his highly anticipated forecast. Superstition states a sunny sky on February 2 would mean a cold and stormy remainder of winter, while a cloudy sky means a quicker warm-up. Phil emerged from his burrow around 7:25am and did not see his shadow, signaling an early spring for us all…

CNN had a great article on the history of Groundhog Day. And how the groundhog’s predictions are usually wrong…

In the past decade, Phil has predicted a longer winter seven times and an early spring three times. He was right about 40% of the time, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which says the groundhog shows no predictive skill. “You’re better off trying to decide what the rest of February and March will look like by flipping a coin,” said CNN meteorologist Judson Jones. But the people who know Phil best don’t exactly see it that way. A.J. Dereume, one of the groundhog’s handlers, insists Phil’s predictions have a 100% accuracy rate — they just get lost in translation.

According to lore, the president of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club is the only person who can interpret Phil’s message. Every year, the groundhog sits on his tree stump and conveys his prediction to the club president, who then directs the vice president to read from a scroll that corresponds with the year’s forecast. “Phil is the one deciding whether or not he’s seen the shadow,” Dereume says. “It’s not up to us. All we do is deliver his message.” Either way, human forecasters don’t mind having the alternate prediction out there in case their own projections go askew. “People like to have something to blame for the weather, and the groundhog is the perfect thing to blame,” Jones said. “It’s better than blaming your meteorologist.”

I didn’t realize so many people turned out to see the groundhog. And when did the groundhog day tradition turn to the groundhog picking a scroll? I thought it all was determined by his shadow. It’s such a funny tradition. 😀🦔❤️

Also funny, was the Jeep Groundhog Day commercial starring Bill Murray during the Superb Owl? It was in one of my top three commercials from this year’s Big Game.

Our Saturday.

This morning we got up early and went to Trader Joe’s and then to Kroger for groceries. Afterward, we stopped at Biggby Coffee for our weekend morning drinks…

It was kind of a sports Saturday. We watched Leicester draw with Chelsea, Xavier beat #10 Seton Hall, the second half of Wolves super boring draw with United, Michigan beat #25 Rutgers. And later, #23 Wichita State lost to Tulsa. The two underdogs we were cheering for won but the favorited Shockers lost and both of our soccer teams drew.

We finished watching 11.22.63 on Hulu. It was really good. We wished it would have kept going for more episodes. We started watching a new series on Netflix. This one is  called The Stranger. It seems like another pretty good one. 😀☕️⚽️🏀📺❤️

The internet is pretty funny.

Ha. The internet can be a pretty funny place. 😂🤣❤️
