Oscar got his hair cut today at Wags-N-Whiskers in Newport…

Now he looks all so handsome again. 🙂

Good evening from Urban Artifact in Northside…

And later, there was just a little sliver of moon peeking out from behind the trees in our backyard. I love sitting in our backyard. It’s one of my favorite places in the world…

As promised, here’s a photo of the amazing pecan rolls from Shadeau Breads at the weekly Northside Farmers Market at Hoffner Park…
They are so delicious. I’ve been looking froward to them all week. 🙂

Today was National Taco Day, and it fell on Taco Tuesday. So this evening, Genifer and I walked down to Django Western Taco to celebrate!
We started with some guacamole Django style…
Genifer got a carnitas taco…
And I had two of Django’s amazing fried chicken tacos…

I couldn’t imagine a more delicious way to celebrate National Taco Day. 🙂

The last weekend of the Reds baseball season. We wanted to get in one more ballgame to make it 15 trips to Great American Ball Park for us this season. We were hanging out at Washington Park for the Pokopolis Pig & Whiskey festival before the game…
Then we walked across Race Street so Genifer could ride the streetcar CB Connector for the first time…
Here it comes…
Apparently, everyone downtown had the exact same idea as us. The Connector was stupid packed…
But we eventually made it to The Banks. We’re pretty sure we could have walked there quicker.
The Reds were playing the Cubs for this final series of the regular season. It was cool to get to see the Cubbies before they embark on their postseason run…
John Lester was on the hill for the Cubs…
Joey Votto’s had an extraordinary second half of the season…
It’s ridiculous how good he’s been this year after a slow start. Bases were full of Reds…
Plenty of seats were still available…
So not surprisingly, we were able to find that Chick-fil-a cow…
And Rosie Red…
Last ball park snacks of the season…
Now the bases were chuck full of Cubbies…
BARGE!
The Cubs brought in Aroldis Chapman to pitch the eighth inning…
With two outs in the eighth, it was Aroldis Chapman versus Joey Votto…
Raisel Iglesias came in to try to shut the door on the Cubs…
And this one belongs to the Reds!
It was a long, tough season for the Reds. But the second half showed a lot of promise and potential for what could be next season. I just know now that for the next couple of weeks I’ll look at the clock see that it’s around 7pm, go to turn on the Reds game and have to remind myself that the season’s over. There isn’t any more Reds baseball until next Spring. And for me, that’s always the hardest part. It’s not the fact that they didn’t do well this year. It’s the fact that their season is over, and I have to wait all winter until I can get to watch my Reds play baseball again. 🙂

It was hard to believe that today was already the first day of October…
We rode the 17 bus downtown to the Porkopolis Pig & Whiskey Festival. Last year, it took place on Horseshoe Casino’s event lawn, and was really a lot of fun. This year’s 2nd annual Pig & Whiskey Festival took place at Washington Park. And I have to say when we walked up, we were a little underwhelmed…
The sizeable event lawn at Washington Park kind of swallowed the event whole…
But we had some time to kill before the start of the Reds game, so we got some tickets and soldiered on for some BBQ and whiskey…
First, we tried whiskey infused with sake. A bold new liquor experience bringing the best of East meets West from Karate Cowboy…
They were offering a couple of different cocktails. A pineapple mule…
And a honey cran apple cider…
So we tried one of each. Both were absolutley delightful…
We also tried a root beer flavored bourbon from Rebel Yell…
For food, we started with The Pockey from Huit…
Asian style ground pork with Chihuahua Cheese rolled in a flour torilla, deep fried and sauced with Huit’s house made sweet sambai…
Delicious and surprisingly filling. And we shared some really incredible St. Louis style ribs from Just Q’in…
Amazing ribs. The meat fell right off the bone. I was also going to get some burnt ends from Velvet Smoke BBQ but we couldn’t find the room to put them away…
So we got a Jack Tennessee Fire and Canadian Dry instead, which is a delicious cocktail…
And the Met Life Blimp was hovering over Washington Park the whole time…
Pig & Whiskey was definitely more fun last year. But we got to sample some alcohols we wouldn’t have normally got to try. We definitely want to add both Karate Cowboy flavors, and the Rebel Yell root beer bourbon to our home bar reserves. And whenever you get to hang out at Washington Park and gaze at Music Hall, it’s never a bad afternoon…

We saw the Met Life blimp from the Metro 17 bus on our way downtown…

I have a thing for blimps. I just think it’s really neat to see them floating over the city. Taken with Instagram. 🙂

We watched a whole bunch of football this weekend. On Saturday, we watched Arsenal destroy Chelsea 3-0. Then Cleve and Alyssa came over in the afternoon to watch the Michigan thump Penn State 49-10. And later, FC Cincinnati won their final match of the regular season 1-0 over the Pittsburgh Riverhoundz. On Sunday, we went back over to Boswell’s Alley to watch those Bengals lose to the Broncos but the wings and quesadilla were great…

And when we came home, we got to watch the Cowboys roll over the Bears on Sunday night football. It was a pretty great weekend of football. 🙂
