Reds Opening Night 2017.

Today is National Walking Day! Even though the forecast called for lotsa rain, I really couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate than taking a walk down to Great American Ball Park for Reds Opening Night 2017! We parked by Lytle Park and walked down to the game…

I’ve been to every single Opening Night since 2010, and Genifer and I have been to every Opening Night together since 2012…

One of GABP’s new fatures this year is the Teppanyaki Grill featuring a $15 Bahn Mi sammich and a $20 Lobster Tail. Lobster Tail is baseball food right?

Also new is a Cheetos Popcorn stand. You can have Cheetos right in your popcorn…

The Fox Sports Ohio condominium was packed…

Another new food offering is Keystone mac & cheese…

A rainbow started to appear on the other side of the river…

Votto went yard to give the Reds a 1-0 lead…

Then Adam Duvall doubled. And Zack Cozart singled in DuvAll-Star to give the Reds a 2-0 lead. The Reds Brandon Finnegan tossed 7 innings of 1 hit ball with 9 Ks

Michael Lorenzen came into the game to get us strikeout number 10…

And NUMBER 11!

AND THAT MEANS…

Raisel Iglesias came in to pitch the ninth and try to seal the deal for the Reds…

And this one belongs to the…

The final out of the game was a Philly getting caught stealing at second. But then the play was reviewed and the runner was called safe at second…

But it just gave Rasiel Igelsias the chance to notch another strikeout instead. BOOM!
AND THIS ONE BELONGS TO THE REDS!

What an incredible Reds Opening Night! The Reds won, Brandon Finnegan tossed seven fierce innings giving up just 1 hit with 9 Ks, Votto went yard, we get free Larosas pizza from the Reds 13 Ks, we got a free Reds 2017-18 calendar, the rain stayed away from the most part and we saw a rainbow! That’s what I call a great Opening Night!
⛈⚾❤🍕🍕🌧🌈👍💯 🙂

HAPPY OPENING DAY!

I designed this Opening Day graphic to hang in our front windows at work…

And I had my #CapsOn for Opening Day…

I wore one of my favorite Reds ballcaps for #CapsOn Opening Day. I won this hat in a giveaway from Skyline. It’s one of my favorite caps because it has two of my favorite Cincinnati things embroidered on it, Reds and Skyline…

Baseball is back! We can’t wait for Opening Night! ❤⚾❤

Cyclones hockey game #11.

No foolin’ around. Today was our 11th Cyclones hockey game of the season. And it was also the final home game for the Cyclones 2016-17 regular season…

It was fan appreciation weekend and that meant there was a really big crowd on hand for today’s game, almost 8,600. Even the upper bowl of US Bank Arena was open…

LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!

At the end of the first period, the Cyclones were leading 2-0 over the Toledo Walleye…

❤❤❤During today’s hockey game, we were on Kiss Cam at US Bank Arena!❤❤❤

And the end of the second period, the game was all knotted at two…

In between the second and third periods, there was Full Throttle go-kart racing on the ice of US Bank Arena…

The Cyclones jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the third period…

Make that 5-2!

Now they just had to hang in there for a little over three minutes…

Because with the win, their five goals tonight would mean free pizza for everybody!

AND THE CYCLONES WON 5-3!!! FREE PIZZA!!!

We stuck around for a post-game warmup jersey auction but the prices were insane…

What a great note to end the Cyclones regular season on at US Bank Arena; getting the big 5-3 win, and getting everyone free pizza to boot. It was our second game of the season where the Cyclones were able to get us free pizzas. And that’s two more free pizzas than we got from the 15 Reds games we went to all of last baseball season.

The Cyclones still have a pretty good chance of making the ECHL playoffs. Who knows? Maybe we’ll get to see our Cyclones a couple more times yet this season. But if not, it was another great season of Cyclones hockey, and we definitely look forward to seeing them play again in October.

GO CYCLONES! 🙂

An afternoon in The Banks.

Back when we were in the Dominican Republic, we had tickets to a Cyclones hockey game that we obviously couldn’t use. We swapped those tickets for tonight’s Cyclones regular season home finale. We decided to make an afternoon of it and rode our beloved 17 bus into downtown to have a little fun before the hockey game…

We walked down to The Banks to check out some of the new places that have opened…

We went to check out latest new downtown burger joint called Burgerfi

We streamed the FC Cincinnati match away to Pittsburgh while we were waiting for our order to be ready. We each ordered a Burgerfi Cheeseburger and shared a Cry+Fry…

Look at the size of those gorgeous onion rings…

They’re practically the same size as the burgers…

Those are some pretty awesome burgers!

Burgerfi really kinda reminded me a lot of In-N-Out Burger with their really, REALLY awesome burgers. I can see taking many walks down to The Banks for a burger for lunch during the work week. Really great stuff! After we were all done with our burgers, we went two doors down to check out the latest bar from 4EG called The Stretch

The Stretch has cocktails on tap…

But they had Urban Artifact‘s Sliderule on tap. So we had a couple while we watched the first half of the South Carolina-Gonzaga game. And we streamed the second half of the FC Cincy match. They notched their first win of the season 1-0 over Pittsburgh.  Hopefully, the Reds can get their first win in a couple days as well…

These are a couple of really fun new places in The Banks. We wished we could have paid a visit to the new Pies & Pints in The Banks as well. Next time. It was a really fun pregame afternoon that we look forward to repeating next hockey season. 🙂

Cyclones hockey game #10.

Tonight, we went to our 10th Cyclones hockey game of the season. It seemed like it had been forever since we’d been to a hockey game

They were giving away Cyclones socks tonight…

LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!

The Cyclones were taking on the Brampton Beast from Ontario. And the Beast opened the scoring just 50 seconds into the game…

And they added another one just over a minute later…

Oops… Make that 3-0…

The Best jumped out to a 4-0 lead near the end of the first period…

GOAL! Cyclones finally got on the board…

4-2!

And at the end of the second period, it was still 4-2…

And the Beast ended up winning 5-2

We have tickets to this Saturday’s final home Cyclones game of the regular season. Hopefully, the ‘Clones can end the home regular season on a high note. 🙂

(de)Constructing Cincinnati.

It’s been really sad watching the historic Dennison Hotel come down brick by brick…

😦

Taco Tuesday.

And today was Silverglades Taco Tuesday…

YUM! Taken with Instagram. 🙂

Fusian.

I went back to Fusian for lunch today. I love all the drawlings and murals covering the walls inside of Fusian

Especially the drawling of Cincinnati Music Hall…

I ordered a spicy salmon roll and a seaweed salad to eat back to work…

And it was delicious! Fusian sushi makes for an incredible lunch! 🙂

This makes me sad.

I was really saddened to return to work this morning only to find out that I have a front row seat to the demolition of the historic Dennison Hotel from my window at work…

It makes me really sad that another piece of downtown Cincinnati’s past is being torn down just to make way for another surface parking lot. 😦

Mian Street is losing an icon.

It’s hard to imagine what Main Street would look like without the Dennison Hotel. 😦
