After dinner at Bistro Grace, we stopped by Higher Gravity for another edition of Meet the Brewery. This week’s brewery was BrewDog USA from over by Columbus by way of Scotland. There were also cheese pairings for each beer supplied by Morsel & Nosh, a new cheese shop/delicatessen coming soon to Northside. Per Morsel & Nosh…
We have chosen a classic Muenster to pair with BrewDog’s 5am Saint Red Ale; the subtle flavor of this mild cheese goes well with the caramel notes of the red ale.
We’ve chosen a Northern France Triple Cream Brie to go with the Jet Black Heart Milk Stout; the rich cream goes well with the cacao and coffee notes of the stout.
The pairing we were the most surprised was the combination of a spicy Wildfire Blue cheese with the Elvis Juice IPA. When tasted alone the Elvis Juice has a forward hoppy/floral note and with the Wildfire Blue cheese the citrus notes really pop.
We’ve never been to a beer and cheese pairing before. It was interesting to taste the beer, taste the cheese and then the beer with the cheese and taste how the flavors of the cheeses accentuated the flavors of the beers. And we found it all very interesting and very tasty. 😀🍺🍻🧀❤️

Last week, we checked out Tickle Pickle’s Taco Tuesday. Tonight, we checked out Tickle Pickle’s Wing Wednesday…
The wings came six to an order with your choice of BBQ, Buffalo or Mango Habanero…
We got an order of the BBQ wings and an order of the Mango Habanero wings…
The BBQ wings were really good. They were really big wings too…
And Mango Habanero were really spicy but delicious as well…
Who knew that Tickle Pickle was more than just really delicious burgers? Now, we have a bunch of different delicious reasons to stop into Tickle Pickle. 😀🐔❤️

We saw on Instagram that every Monday in December Northside Yacht Club was going to serving scratch-made ramen noodles by Chef Hideki Harada, former owner and chef of Kaze in OtR! Hideki and his wife Yuko are opening Kiki, a Japanese restaurant in College Hill in late spring until then they’ll be serving their Pop-Up Ramen at NSYC! It sounded really interesting so we thought we’d go check it out…
I didn’t take a photo of it, but NYSC was packed tonight. Thankfully after waiting for a little bit, we were finally able to belly up to the bar for big bowls of ramen…
Genifer ordered the mushroom ramen…
And I ordered “Tonkotsu” pork ramen with extra eggs…
The ramen was delicious! And the eggs soaking up the broth were outstanding. They were my favorite part. As we were finishing our bowls, NYSC ran out of ramen. They started serving ramen around 4pm and by 7:30pm, they had gone through all 150 servings of noodles. I have next Monday off so hopefully we can sneak into Yacht Club early and get some more delicious, delicious ramen. And we can’t wait to check out Kiki just up the street from us in College Hill when it opens late this spring. 😀🍜❤️
