Northside Saturday.

After the fog this morning lifted, it turned out to be a pretty nice day. It wasn’t all that particularly warm but the sun was out and that made for a nice change of pace. We walked over to Boswell’s

We had a hankering for cheeseburgers and Bos bites…

Afterwards, we stopped into Urban Artifact for a beer…

My sister, Shannon sent us a $25 Giftly gift card to use at Urban Artifact. We definitely put it to good use and ordered a couple of UA’s special tap, Blueberry Parfait

Urban Artifact had a mailbox and postcards on their bar celebrating their new tart IPA called Postcard

Keep your eye on your mailbox for a postcard from us thanks to Urban Artifact. It was another really fun day just hanging out in our neighborhood. It’s so nice to be able to walk places again! 😀🍔🐔🍻❤️

Two vastly different Saturday nights.

They wore me down. I tried my best to resist. But this evening, I gave in to temptation. I  got Taco Bell in Northside for the second time. I finally tried those Nacho Cheese Fries that seemed to be in every other commercial during the basketball tournament…

The fries were a bit disappointing. They weren’t bad. But they also weren’t anything all that special. Just some average fries with nacho cheese for dipping. I wasn’t expecting much from anything that only costs a dollar at Taco Bell. But the chalupas were every bit as good as I remembered them…

After inhaling a couple of chalupas and finishing my nacho fries, I hung out with the pups and just watched basketball for the rest of the evening…

Meanwhile, Genifer had a girl’s night. And went out for drinks with our friend, Tayler

They went to The Hamilton, Bistro Grace and finished up at Higher Gravity…

Michigan advanced to the Final Four after surviving their Elite Eight matchup against Florida State, 58-54. We both had very different but very fun evenings. 😀🌮🐶🏀🍸❤️

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY! We walked across Northside to Boswell’s late this afternoon…

We met up our friends Chris and Tayler at Boswell’s. Genifer and I shared some delicious Bos Bites smothered in Bos sauce…

Genifer had a Super Grill and I had a Reuben. Both were delicious. Genifer’s green was her Golden Girls Sophia pin…

From Boswell’s, we walked over to Higher Gravity…

And there were some Irish Car Bombs…

We watched our FC Cincinnati win their first game of the 2018 season 1-0 away to Charleston Battery. We ended up hanging out at Higher Gravity to watch Michigan’s miraculous madness last-second 64-63 win over Houston to advance Michigan to the Sweet Sixteen. After the game, Michigan head coach John Beilein’s locker antics were pretty awesome. It was an amazing ending to a great day…

Yep. It was a pretty great St. Patrick’s Day! 😀🍀🍻❤️

A Friday night treat.

This evening Genifer brought us home a pre-St. Patrick’s Day treat… A growler of the Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout that tasted just like a Girl Scouts Thin Mint cookie from The Woodburn Brewery Taproom in East Walnut Hills…

That is one really delicious beer! 😀🍻🍀❤️

Post Office Place.

This afternoon we met our friends Scott and Kathy and their kiddos Grace and Sam at Post Office Place  (POP for short) in Columbia Tusculum for lunch…

And that’s the last photo I took. 😕 We got to chit-chatting and eating and I completely forgot to snap any more photos. We shared POP’s Garlic Herb Bruschetta Goat Cheese Dip with pita bread which was awesome. We also tried some of their Buffalo POP Wings and we shared an East End Classic pizza with pepperoni, onions, green and red peppers, mushrooms and black olives on a classic red sauce. And those were really good too! Afterward, we stopped at Streetside for a beer. The next photo I took was of the Girl Scout cookies Grace delivered to us…

It was a fun afternoon. Sorry I completely blanked on taking photos of POP. It’s a really fun place with great food. If you next yourself in Columbia Tusculum, be sure to give them a try! 😀🍕🐔🍺🍪❤️

Physical therapy x Higher Gravity.

I had my first session of physical therapy for my hip this evening…

It went pretty good. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. But then again, nothing about this entire hip replacement process has been as bad as I thought it would be. Not even close. At all. I thought every step of this process was going to be far more grueling and painful than it’s actually turned out to be. So in my mind, I either really overexaggerated how horrible an experience I thought this would be and braced for the worst possible scenario at each and every step of this process, or this has been a study in the best possible case scenario for a complete hip replacement. At the end of June, I’ll be having my left hip replaced. It’ll be interesting to see how that experience compares to this experience. I hope it’s very much the same, an identical experience or an even better experience than what I am working through right now. Because this really hasn’t been that bad at all.

Anyway. After my first physical therapy session, we stopped at Higher Gravity for a beer. We hadn’t been to HG for almost three weeks. The last time we were there was to watch Xavier knock off Georgetown in OT back at the beginning of February…

We stopped in tonight because we wanted to try #11, the Hawaiian Speedway Stout

And it was awesome! It was also awesome to be able to get out of the house and do something again…

Only 10 more physical therapies to go! 😀🍻❤️

An evening out in East Walnut Hills.

This evening we ventured off across town to another up-and-coming neighborhood in Cincinnati, East Walnut Hills

Genifer works right around the corner. She was excited to check out some of the places she sees every day but hasn’t had the chance to visit yet. Our first stop was at Woodburn Brewery and Tap Room

We’ve tried a couple of Woodburn’s beers on tap at Higher Gravity and they were really good so we were excited to see what else they had…

We got a flight. We tried the Breakfast Porter, American Brown and Imperial Stout…

Did I mention it was a Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout that tasted just like a Girl Scouts Thin Mint cookie? It was one of the best beers I’ve tasted in a quick minute…

Woodburn Brewery also had some small bites by Mazunte…

We got the guacamole and chips and the nachos…

The nachos were really good but they were just too much food. I’m still really kicking myself for not just getting the beer cheese. When in doubt, always go with the beer cheese. Especially when you’re at a brewery.

We did another flight with two barrel-aged beers and another taster the Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout. It was such an amazing beer. There’s already been talk of Genifer taking one or two of our growlers with her to fill up with the Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout some day after work. It was a really great place. And we can’t wait to come back soon. Then we went across the street to meet friends at Myrtle’s Punch House

As you could expect from the name, Myrtle’s specialty is serving punch…

Our punches are handcrafted and can be ordered by the glass, in a flight, if you want to try a bit of each, or in a bowl to share with your friends! There are always four options on tap to choose from, and we feature punches with recipes dating back to the 1700’s, as well as new and innovative approaches to this classic cocktail.

We shared a punch bowl of the Mark Twain punch made with Bourbon, Pimms, lemon, black tea, apple cider and honey…

How adorable is that punch bowl? And the punch was very tasty…

But at $24, the punch bowl seemed a bit on the pricey side to me. Like any punch, it was mostly juices and mixers with a splash of the good stuff. Don’t get me wrong, Myrtle’s is a pretty fun place too. I just think presented with the choice, we’d always lean towards beers over cocktails.

It was a pretty fun night out in East Walnut Hills. And we got to check out a couple of new places. It’s a nice place to visit but I’m really happy we live in Northside. 😀🍺🍹❤️

Wild Card weekend.

We went down to Higher Gravity to watch the Titans versus Chiefs Wild Card football game with our friends Chris and Tayler. They are big Chiefs fans. It was a pretty good game but unfortunately, the Chiefs managed to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. While we were watching the game, we shared this ridiculously huge 22-inch pepperoni pizza from Chameleon

It was a really, really good pie. After the game, Wild Card weekend started to get a bit wild. There were some consolation shots…

And after that, there was a contest between shotgunning versus chugging a beer

We always have a really good time at Higher Gravity. And Northside has some of the best pizza around. 🏈🍕🍻❤️

NYE at Higher Gravity.

We went to one of our favorite Northside watering holes, Higher Gravity to celebrate New Year’s Eve…

We met up with our friends Chris and Tayler and moved into this little alcove…

We brought a bunch of little poppers with us…

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It was a really great New Year’s Eve! 😀🥂🍾❤️

Taft’s Brewpourium.

Tonight, we met our friends and their kids at Taft’s Brewpourium. It’s been a minute since we were last at the Brewpourium

It was a really fun evening. And it was great to see everyone. 😀🍺❤️
