FC Cincinnati versus Orlando City B.

IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY FOUR! Within the area code of 513, May 13 is a day to celebrate all things Cincinnati. What better way to celebrate 513 Day than watching our beloved FC Cincinnati?!

BECAUSE IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY! FC|C was taking on Orlando City B

We rode our Metro 17 bus over to Clifton early so we could go to Mac’s Pizza Pub before the game to get a bite to eat…

Great stuff!

Apparently, we didn’t get over to Mac’s early enough. We were walking into Nippert just as the teams were making their way out onto the pitch…

HERE WE GO!

When FC Cincinnati received their first yellow card in the 15th minute, we knew it was going to be a long match…

At halftime the score was still all deadlocked at 0-0. The first half was one of the worst officiated halves of soccer I’ve ever seen in my life at any level…

And we’re back underway…

In the 74th minute, the referee awarded Orlando City B a really questionable penalty kick which they converted to make the score 1-0…

There were 5 additional minutes added to the end of this debacle…

OCB added a second goal in 90th+2 minute that looked pretty offside to me…

And FC Cincinnati ended up losing to OCB 2-0. Without a doubt in my mind, it was the worst officiated game ever. It was as if it was the referee’s first match or like he didn’t completely read all the rules, just skimmed them. It was beyond ridiculous.

Hopefully, FC|C will be able to bounce back this Wednesday when they welcome NPSL 2016 National Champion’s AFC Cleveland to Nippert Stadium for a second round match up in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. See you there! 🙂

Grilling with Clifton Market.

On my way home, I stopped in Clifton to pick up some stuff to grill for dinner …

I picked up some regular burger patties and and some cheddar bacon stuffed burger patties from the meat counter at the new Clifton Market…

I grabbed my groceries and headed to get back on the bus…

Check out these odd little creatures in one of the shop windows along Ludlow Avenue…

When I got home, we fired up the grill…

We threw a few hot dogs on the grill as well…

And Genifer made a bunch of oven fries…

And it was another awesome dinner off the grill…

Those cheddar and bacon stuffed burgers were just outstanding. We’re definitely have to get some more very soon. And we’re definitely loving our new grill. I think we could grill every night and never get tired of it. 🙂

FC Cincinnati versus Tampa Bay.

IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY TWO! Tonight was FC Cincinnati’s second home match of the season. They were taking on the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Nippert Stadium…

The supporters groups started marching in to fill up The Bailey…

HERE WE GO…

Tampa Bay Rowdies scored first on this rocket from about thirty-five yards

FC|C answered back when Harrison Delbridge headed the ball in from a corner

Oh, and it was University of Cincinnati night at tonight’s match…

There were two minutes of time added on…

At the half, the match was all knotted at one…

There were some great banners in The Bailey tonight…

Two of my favorites were Fiona the baby hippo and the three-way right next to it…

SPRINKLES!

Both teams had some good chances but neither team could manage to find the back of the net in the second half. And the match of ended in a 1-1 draw.

I missed the snapping the photo but tonight’s match was played in front of a crowd of 15,227 – the 12th-largest crowd in FC Cincinnati history. On a Wednesday. And that’s still 3,000+ people more than Columbus Crew drew last weekend. On a Saturday.

FC Cincinnati’s next match is at home on Saturday, April 22nd against Louisville City FC. We’ll see you there! 🙂

Habañero Burrito Monday!

On my way home, I stopped at Habañero in Clifton to pick up some burritos for dinner because it was another Habañero $5 Burrito Monday

It had been a minute since we last had $5 Habañero Burrito Monday. It sure is good stuff. Taken with Instagram. 🥙 🙂

FC Cincinnati’s 2017 Home Opener.

IT’S FC CINCINNATI MATCH DAY ONE! Today was the home opener of FC Cincinnati’s 2017 USL season

FC Cincinnati started their season with three matches on the road. Out of those three matches, they picked up three points for a win but unfortunately picked up two losses. This evening FC|C looked to right the ship as they played host to first-place St. Louis FC. St. Louis had given up five goals in their first four matches of the season. On paper, it looked like a very tough matchup. But first things first, check out this sweet FC Cincy MG we saw on our way into Nippert…

Okay, onto Nippert…

The Bailey started to unfurl their tifo for today’s match…

We couldn’t quite make out what the bottom part said…

But the power stack was smoking and that was a really nice touch…

HERE WE GO…

In the 35th minute, Djiby Fall scored the first goal of the year at Nippert Stadium

Two minutes of time added on…

Just seconds before halftime, Djiby netted his second in the 45th+2 minute…

And at halftime, it was 2-0 FC Cincinnati…

SPRINKLES!

And in the 47th minute, Djiby completed his hat-trick…

St. Louis FC’s coach was all bent out of shape and all riled up about something and had to be restrained by the fourth official…

FC Cincy’s coach, Alan Kock didn’t take kindly to whatever was said and had to be held back as well…

Djiby, the man of the hour…

He wasn’t done, as he netted his fourth! DJIBY! Have yourself a game, young man!

23, 144! Not only was today’s attendance a new USL home opener record, it was also the 10 largest North American soccer attendance of the weekend

And it was over 10,000 more people than the Columbus Crew drew for their Saturday MLS match against Toronto FC up the road at Mapfre Stadium up in Columbus.

All eye were on the man in the middle for the full-time whistle…

AND THERE IT IS, FULL-TIME! 4-0 FC CINCINNATI

WOW! Now that’s how you do a home opener. What an incredible match! Just a little bit of perspective… last season, Sean Okoli was only FC Cincy player with multiple goal games. He scored a brace (2), three times. Djiby Fall had 4 this evening! And he’s now reigning USL player of the week and the leading scorer in all of USL. FC Cincy’s next match is this Wednesday, April 19th as they welcome the Tampa Bay Rowdies to Nippert Stadium. See you there! 🙂

Habañero Burrito Monday.

Tonight was another $5 burrito Monday at Habañero

And it was delicious! Taken with Instagram. 🙂

Taken with Instagram.

It was a really chilly but very pretty morning in Northside…

Dodge. Ram…

And I stopped in Clifton and picked us up some China Kitchen for dinner…

Taken with Instagram. 🙂

China Kitchen.

I stopped at Clifton Market on my way home this evening to look for the hard-to-find Braxton x Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout collaboration…

But sadly, they were already all sold out. The stop wasn’t a complete loss though. I ducked into China Kitchen for the first time and brought us home some carry-out…

We got Szechuan Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken and some fried wontons. I think we just found our new go-to Chinese restaurant. It was really delicious stuff. And so much of it for a very reasonable price. I love my Metro 17 bus. It makes life ridiculously easy. 🙂

Clifton Market.

This afternoon we rode our beloved Metro 17 bus over to Clifton’s Gaslight District…

We wanted to check out the long awaited new co-op grocery store, Clifton Market

It’s been three years in the making since planning began…

From to Clifton Market’s website:

The co-op business model is the best way to serve the community.  Grocery co-ops source more local food, pay better wages, and put more money back into the local economy.  Profits from the co-op are returned to owners in the community in the form of patronage dividends.  This encourages owner loyalty because the more you shop, the more you get back.

We’re most excited about it because it’s right on the 17 bus line home from downtown. So if there’s ever a need to stop and pick something up for dinner, or if we’re missing a key ingredient, I can stop on my way home from work without having to get in the car and run back out to our local Kroger. Plus with it being a co-op, I feel better about my money going back into the community. Annnnd, I want to see Clifton Market do well because the new Northside co-op grocery store, Apple Street Market is based off the same premise. I would love to have option of going to Clifton Market right on the bus line or stopping at Apple Street Market just a few blocks from our house. 🙂

Dinner from UberEats.

We had dinner from Cactus Pear in Clifton delivered by UberEats. So much good stuff. Genifer had cheese enchiladas. I had chicken quesadillas. And we shared Flameado, a casserole of baked cheese, chorizo, caramelized onions and poblano peppers served with flour tortillas. It was so good and so easy but we ordered way too much food. UberEats makes it so easy to have great food delivered right to your dining room table. We’ll definitely be ordering from Cactus Pear again very soon 🙂
