Soccer Saturday.

There were a bunch of great soccer matches slated for later today. But first things first, this morning we had to do some yard work. We trimmed the bushes, pulled some weeds and mowed the grass in our little front yard…

We worked on our backyard a bit too. Before last night, before mowing today, and finally the beautiful after shot…

And we wrapped up just in time to watch the Champions League final. The result was kind of disappointing with Real Madrid beating Juventus 4-1. I thought it would have been a much more competitive match. But the lone Juventus goal was one for the ages. But 4-1 is still a little bit sad trombone.

Afterward, we walked down to Second Place to watch our FC Cincinnati play away to Rochester Rhinos

FC Cincy rested most of their starters, opting to go with mainly a second squad and as a result had a really hard time generating any sort of real offense and lost 1-0. The loss snaps FC|C’s four-match winning streak. They play another three home matches in the next seven days starting this Saturday when they welcome the Charlotte Indepence to Nippert Stadium. That match is then followed by the big #MLS2Cincy US Open Cup Hell Is Real Ohio derby match against Columbus Crew on Wednesday and then another home USL match this time against the first-placed Charleston Battery two weeks from today.

Soon after the FC Cincinnati match, the USMNT played a friendly against Venzelua. We made it home just after the kick-off. And that match ended 1-1. But the USMNT pride jerseys were pretty awesome. I might just have to look into ordering one of those for myself. They were some of the sharpest uniforms the USMNT has worn in quite a while. In fact, they’re my US favorite jerseys dating back to the old “sash” jerseys from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. And I’m probably well overdue for a new USMNT jersey. ⚽️🏳️‍🌈

And even though not one team I was cheering for managed to win today, it was still a great afternoon and evening of soccer. 😀 ⚽️ ❤️

Happy National Doughnut Day!

Today was National Doughnut Day! And miraculously, two big boxes of delicious Holtman’s Donuts showed up in our office this morning!

And there was also a sizeable assortment of doughnuts from Marcella’s

Why can’t every day be National Doughnut Day? 😁 🍩 😍 ❤️

Luke Bryan with Brett Eldredge.

Genifer went to see Luke Bryan with Brett Eldredge tonight at Riverbend

It was a girl’s night out for Cathy’s birthday…

It sounded like they had a pretty good time. While she was doing that, I was watching…

unnamed-1 2

Until I went to pick her up but by that point, the game was pretty much over. 🙂 🏀

USOC17: FC Cincinnati versus Louisville City FC.

IT’S MATCH DAY! And it’s the Dirty River Derby US Open Cup edition. Our beloved FC Cincinnati were taking on heated rival Louisville City FC at Nippert in the third round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup 2017. And if just knocking Louisville out of the Cup wasn’t motivation enough, the winner of this match gets to host Columbus Crew in the fourth round of the USOC…

Kind of a sparse crowd in attendance tonight for such a big match…

Digging the guy in the full FC Cincinnati goalkeeper kit…

The last time these two teams met at Nippert, Djiby got red carded and then suspended for an additional five matches for supposedly biting as Louisville player…

So you know he has some revenge on his mind.

O say can you see…

HERE WE GO! Cmon boys!

A nice handful of LCFC fans made the drive up from Louisville for the match…

And at halftime, the match was still knotted at 0-0…

SPRINKLES!!!

Here we go! The second half is underway…

GOAL! DJIBY! 1-0 FC CINCINNATI!

I think this was the smallest crowd ever at Nippert for an FC Cincinnati match…

For comparison, Louisville City FC averaged 7,218 at their home matches in 2016.

AND THERE’S THE FULL-TIME WHISTLE! 1-0 FC Cincinnati

Next match for FC Cincinnati at Nippert will be on June 10th…

When they host Charlotte Indepence…

And…

ON JUNE 14th at 7pm…

#MLS2Cincy…

It’s so exciting! The inaugural HELL IS REAL derby! What a great night! Both on and off the pitch…

SEE YOU ON THE 10th AND THE 14TH! And yes, we already have our tickets for this…

😀 ⚽️ ❤️

Good morning from Northside.

Good morning from Northside. Taken with Instagram. 🙂

Slow down and grill.

I don’t know if you noticed but we hadn’t grilled yet this week. So I stopped into Avril Bleh Meat Market downtown on Court Street looking to pick up some burger patties to throw on the grill tonight…

I got two aged steak burger patties. The butcher said they were made with the leftover meat after they were done cutting the steaks. When there wasn’t enough meat left to cut another steak, they took what was left and ground into patties…

And we threw a bunch of hot dogs on the grill for lunches…

I should have cleaned off the top of the grill before it got super hot. Stupid mulberries.

After the burgers and dogs were done, we threw some chicken strips on the grill that Genifer had marinated half in BBQ sauce and half in jerk seasoning…

She also made some spicy baked mac & cheese topped Ritz crackers…

A delicious meal! Those burgers were outstanding, and the mac & cheese was great!

YUM! We love our grill! 😀 🍔 🌭 ❤️

Pause for paws.

Oscar was so excited to get to ride in the car with us this morning…

That excitement was gone by the time I got dropped off at work…

He probably figured out somewhere between point A and point B that he was going to get his haircut. But now he looks so handsome again with his new Superman bandana!

He’s a funny, funny little guy. 🙂

Taco Tuesday.

It was Taco Tuesday again at Silverglades Deli on Eighth Street…

I love tacos. I’ve really been digging on the hard-shell tacos lately. 😀 🌮 🌮 🌮 ❤️

Taste of Cincinnati 2017.

This afternoon we went drove downtown to check out Taste of Cincinnati 2017…

unnamed

We got to park for free in Deskey’s parking lot on Eighth Street and just walk a couple blocks down to Fifth Street so that made things extraordinarily easy. Not as easy as when we used to live downtown, but still pretty dang easy. To accommodate that silly Streetcar Cincinnati Bell Connector, this year’s Taste of Cincinnati started at Main Street and continued east down Fifth Street to Sentinel Street ending with Taste of Findlay Market and Fodd Truck Alley. Let’s get to Tasting…

We almost started our Taste with Northside’s Tickle Pickle but they’re right around the corner from our house. We just vowed to get their delicious burgers next week…

We tried the Taste of Cincinnati signature cocktail in a souvenir glass…

Tasty and refreshing. Southwest now flies to CVG! Southwest had a booth at Taste and had people silk-screening bags on demand. We had to get a Taste of Cincinnati bag…

And they were giving away packets of airline peanuts and pretzels. Nice touch! 🙂

Genifer’s all set now with her signature cocktail and her Official Taste of Cincinnati bag…

Across the way, LL Bean had this bootmobile…

More than 550,000 people visited this year’s Taste of Cincinnati over the 3-day festival. Gorgeous weather all weekend undoubtedly played a part bringing people out…

Nathan’s had their famous mustard belt on hand…

We had some amazing jerk chicken and rice from Island Frydays…

Stella Artois had a cool retro airstream at Taste…

We had an incredible empanada in the Taste of Findlay Market. But it was so delicious, I forgot to take a photo of it…

It’s 5 am somewhere…

These little stacking stools by Gateway Fountain would be awesome on our patio…

Food Truck Alley was without a doubt the busiest area at Taste while we were there…

We got a delicious Bee Sting from C’est Cheese…

And we got to see our friend Emily!

We could have spent the rest of the afternoon just eating our way through Food Truck Alley with Red Sesame, Just Jerks, Alabama Fish Bar and Texas Joe just to name a few. But it was so crowded in Food Truck Alley that it was hard to move. So we made our way out and got some Thai Taste Crab Rangoons because I love Crab Rangoons…

This kid’s contraption was genius…

The Bud Bar was back at Taste…

We climbed up top to take in the view from the roof…

In this photo, there are not one but TWO monkey-leash-backpacks…

One of the best parts of our Taste were the VIP passes from CincinnatiUSA.com which gave us access to the VIP area. It was a lifesaver for a place to sit in the shade, catch your breath and enjoy a complimentary bottle of ice cold water…

It was another amazing Taste of Cincinnati. The only problem is you get full way too fast. We can’t wait to see you again next year Taste of Cincinnati.  🙂

Oh! And I almost forgot… We got these amazing refrigerator magnets from Cincy Shirts booth at Taste as well: #TeamFiona and a Cincinnati 3-Way

Celebrate the 513! 🙂

Happy Memorial Day!

Thank you to all the brave men & women who protect and serve our great country.
