Operation Plowshare.

We stopped at Urban Artifact this evening after picking up more pecan rolls from Shadeau Breads at the Northside Farmers Market to try their latest creation, Operation Plowshare. It’s a Black Raspberry Jelly Doughnut Ale made in partnership with Holtman Donuts and Yelp Cincinnati to Celebrate National Donut Month and Yelp’s Baked & Brewed! And Plowshare was delightful. It tasted just like biting into the center of jelly-filled donut…

We got one with sprinkles and one without…

Great stuff. I only wish we would have remembered to grab one of our growlers. 🙂

Weston Art Gallery.

I stopped by the Weston Art Gallery to check out the new exhibition, Mario Pascual • Three Works

Three Works is an selection of photographic manipulations that combines photography and everyday objects…

Interesting. Downstairs was a selection of photographs entitled After Industry, a selection of American and German photographers who examined post-industrial landscapes. Again, it was interesting. But nowhere near as interesting as the last exhibition, which I completely forgot to do a post about. The last exhibition, Another World featured paintings by the late Dennison Griffith, the former president of the Columbus College of Art and Design where I went to school. His paintings were a “surreal landscapes populated by a cast of colorful and biomorphic characters often tenuously tethered or supported by crutches or ladders.” And in the downstairs galleries was one of the coolest exhibitions that I’ve seen. It was called Lost in the Makinga series of intricately constructed miniature worlds by Christian Schmit. “His intimate and intricately constructed sculptures alluded to the secret and obsessive activities of unseen characters.” And it was one of the most amazing exhibitions I’ve ever seen. I could have stared at those little scenes for hours. The Weston Art Gallery always has something pretty neat. 🙂

Habañero Burrito Monday.

On the way home, I stopped at Habañero in Clifton to get us some delicious burritos for dinner again

I love burrito Mondays. 🙂

A wonderful weekend visit.

We had a great time this weekend hanging out with my parents. Friday night, we had Geri, Cathy and Shelly over as well for some delicious Pizza King pizza goodness that my parents brought down with them. They also brought down a growler of a really amazing jalapeno beer called Xalapa from One Well Brewery for us us to try. It had all of the jalapeno flavor without any of the heat. Really good stuff. On Saturday, we went to walked around the little shops of Northside for Second Saturday. Then we stopped at Boswell’s for lunch and sampled the beers and cheers at Urban Artifact, including Milkman, maple breakfast stout, before returning home to watch the Michigan thump Rutgers and the Cubs beat the Giants. It was a pretty great weekend…

It was great to get see my parents, and we’re so happy they got to see our house. 🙂

Huit Craft BBQ.

All that talk about Huit yesterday got me thinking that it’s been a minute since I’ve eaten there. So today, I walked up to Court Street to get lunch from Huit Craft BBQ

I got curry empanadas, which were delicious…

And I got Huit’s sweet and sour chicken. I’ve been on a real Asian food kick…

What a very tasty lunch. 🙂

neuf.

I was walking to get lunch today and I when noticed some new signs in the window of what used to be Dynasty Chinese Restaurant on Main Street. It looks like Huit up on Court Street is opening a sister restaurant called neuf asian eatery …

It’s always nice when a new restaurant opens up right around the corner from work. I can’t wait to give it a try once it opens. And if it’s anything like Huit, you just know it’s going to be great. 🙂

Pause for paws.

Oscar got his hair cut today at Wags-N-Whiskers in Newport…

Now he looks all so handsome again. 🙂

Good evening.

Good evening from Urban Artifact in Northside…

And later, there was just a little sliver of moon peeking out from behind the trees in our backyard. I love sitting in our backyard. It’s one of my favorite places in the world…

🙂

Northside Farmers Market.

As promised, here’s a photo of the amazing pecan rolls from Shadeau Breads at the weekly Northside Farmers Market at Hoffner Park…

They are so delicious. I’ve been looking froward to them all week. 🙂

Happy National Taco Day!

Today was National Taco Day, and it fell on Taco Tuesday. So this evening, Genifer and I walked down to Django Western Taco to celebrate!

We started with some guacamole Django style…

Genifer got a carnitas taco…

And I had two of Django’s amazing fried chicken tacos…

I couldn’t imagine a more delicious way to celebrate National Taco Day. 🙂
