Mardi Gras at Overlook Lodge.

After brunch at Revolution Rotisserie, we walked over to Overlook Lodge

Overlook was hosting a Madri Gras party this afternoon…

We met our friends Chris and Tayler at Overlook for the festivities…

Overlook was mixing up some hurricanes…

Out on their back patio, they were having a big crawfish boil

I tried my best to eat as many crawfish as I could. They’re tricky little buggers. And there was also a giant king cake which was much easier to eat…

Somehow, the baby from the king cake was already in the pine tree on our table when we got to Overlook. It took us a while to notice him but there he was, just hanging out…

It was such a fun afternoon celebrating Madri Gras at Overlook in Pleasant Ridge!

Such peanut butter.

We finally got around to trying a couple of the Belching Beaver Brewery Peanut Butter Milk Stoutsย thatย JJVE sent us a little while back, and it was outstanding…

So peanut buttery! So delicious! Thanks again, JJVE! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿบ๐Ÿปโค๏ธ

Meet the Brewery: Jackie O.

We stopped at Higher Gravity for another one of their Meet the Brewery nights. Tonight’s brewery was Jackie O’s Brewery from Athens, Ohio. HG had Jackie O’s Les Deux Silos on draft…

And they were pouring samples of several of Jackie O’s mixed fermentation bottles…

All of the beers were very good. The Les Deux Silos was outstanding. It was almost more of a wine than a beer. The Meet the Brewery events at Higher Gravity are always tasty and fun.ย ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿบ๐Ÿปโค

Happy hour in Pendleton.

Just to the north of Jack Casino and just to the east of Over-the-Rhine lies the Pendleton neighborhood of downtown Cincinnati. Genifer noticed on Instagram that the relatively new 3-Point Brewery in Pendleton was having a Pop-Up Happy Hour Wednesday with $2 beers from 5-7pm. So after work this evening, we stopped in Pendleton to finally check out a couple places that were new to us.

We haven’t been to Pendleton since we moved to Northside. Back then all that was there was Nation. Now there are all sorts of new places like Luquis Q barbeque

Across the street is Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey

And next door to Boomtown is CHX

And next to CHX is 3-Points Urban Brewery…

3-Points is absolutely beautiful inside…

I started with a Sinking Orca Oatmeal Stout

And Genifer tried their Shoal Cincy Stout

Both beers were really good. That little CHX guy kept staring at us…

He reminded us of Oscar with his beady little eyes.

We ordered a small original breaded banty with fries from the bar and just a little while later, we received a text that our banty was ready to be picked up…

And there’s our order…

Our CHX was so good! There were so many fries in that bag. It was like a neverending bag of fries. They just kept regenerating themselves no matter how many we ate. And their dipping sauces were legit too. But the star of the show for me was the hushpuppies. Then again, I love hushpuppies. I also tried their Magic Wand Kettle Sour

And Genifer tried one of their spicy margarita draft cocktails…

Both 3-Point and CHX were awesome. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary

We can’t wait to come back to 3-Point and CHX. And we also can’t wait to check out Lucius Q and Boomtown. And eat at Nation again. It’s been way too long. Geez… Pendleton is really on the serious upswing! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ

Delirium Night at HG.

Tonight at Higher Gravity, it was Delirium Night featuring both Delirium Tremens and Delerium Red.ย Delerium isย that beer with the pink elephant that is really good. In fact,ย Delirium Tremens is one of the best beers I’ve ever had in my life. So we were pretty excited to also get to try Red as well…

Tremens was every bit as good as we remember it. Red would have been really good but it paled in comparison next to Tremens. (Ha. Because it’s also lighter than Tremens๐Ÿคช). But Tremens is just plain amazing. It’s ridiculous just how good it is. Oh, and we got the keep these cool Delerium glasses…

After trying both beers, we stopped at Chameleon for a slice of pizza. It was a pretty fun Thursday. We haven’t been to HG in a quick second. It was great to hang out for a bit. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ˜โค๏ธ

The Comet.

On our way home from Brink’s 2nd-anniversary party, we finally stopped at The Comet in Northside. The Comet is a Northside institution that’s been around since 1995. It’s known for live music, Sunday brunch, and amazing burritos. It’s just 3/4 of a mile from our house but somehow, we’ve never made it up to check it out. To be fair, it’s in the exact outside direction of almost everything else in Northside that we walk to. And we’d have to walk uphill all the way up Hamilton Avenue to get to The Comet…

We had a beer at the bar…

The Comet is a great place. And it smelled so good in there. We’ll definitely have to stop back very soon to actually eat one of their famous burritos and maybe a quesadilla too!

The walk home all downhill and wasn’t bad at all…

It was another fun Saturday in Northside.ย ๐Ÿ˜€โ˜„๏ธ๐Ÿบโค๏ธ

Brink Brewing’s 2nd anniversary.

This afternoon we hopped on the Metro 17 bus to head up into College Hill…

It was Brink Brewing‘s 2nd-anniversary party

It was pretty busy. A lot of people must like Brink as much as we do…

They had a lot of great beers on tap for their birthday party. We had Mint Oreo Moozie Milk Stout and Business Meeting Oatmeal Stout with raspberry and vanilla…

And we had some lunch from Stellar Street Eats

And there was even some birthday cake!

Happy birthday, Brink! Thanks for 2 great years and here’s to many more to come!

Special delivery.

We got a big package box in the mail from JJVE today…

Inside were two six packs…

We’ve had the 10 Barrel Brewing Cucumber Crush Sour before and it is delicious…

But we’ve never even heard of Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout before…

We’re really excited to try it. Thanks, JJVE! That’s pretty darn awesome of you! Cheers!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This evening we went out to celebrate Valentine’s Day! We talked about grandiose plans and expensive dinners. But instead, we just stopped at new favorite placeย Northside Distilling to try one of their special Valentine’s Day cocktails

Genifer ordered The Bless Your Heart…

And I ordered The Dudette. Don’t judge me. It was delicious…

Then we headed back to Northside and stopped at Chameleon for a couple of cheese pizza slices and BBQ chicken wings. We’re not fancy…

Chameleon’s pizza and wings are both out of this world! Sometimes the best Valentine’s Day plans are the simplest. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿ•โค๏ธ

Thirsty Thursday: QCE, NSD & NYPD.

After work, we stopped back at Queen City Exchange for a beer…

It’s such a fun place with so many great beers. Then we walked across the street to have a drink at our other new favorite place, Northside Distilling

I love their cocktail called The Dude. It’s their take on a White Russian…

It’s delicious. And speakingof delicious, on the way home we stopped at NYPD to pick up one of their delicious cheese pizzas for dinner…

I really love Thursdays. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿบ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿ•โค๏ธ
