Hello, CB Connector.

Cincinnati finally got to ride all over downtown and Over-the-Rhine on it’s brand new streetcar CB Connector all weekend long. Social media was chuck full of photos and videos of people’s experiences on the Connector. Today, it was my turn. I got to ride it for myself for the first time this afternoon. I hopped on the Connector at Main and Eighth Streets just outside of Deskey…

By the time it got to Twelfth Street, I had the COnnector pretty much to myself…

I took this little video clip with my Instagram

I got off the Connector at the Findlay Market stop on Elm Street…

I just wanted to get a Bahn Mi sammich from Pho Lang Thang

With sammich in hand, I walked over to wait for the Connector at the Findlay Market stop on Race Street…

And like clockwork, there was the Connector…

I rode the Connector down Race Street passed Washington Park…

I decided to ride the Connector all the way back around to where I first got on at Main and Eighth Streets. At Fountain Square, I started taking this video with my Polaroid CUBE…

Apparently, you can only take a five minute long video. And that’s fine because it’s not all that interesting. At all. Here’s another much shorter video of the Connector rolling passed Great American Ball Park…

And I’m back where I started at Main and Eighth…

I think I was going for about 45 minutes or so, give or take. Next time, I’ll pay more attention to what time it is when I leave. And here’s my Korean BBQ Bahn Mi sammich from Pho Lang Thang…

I have to admit. It was pretty cool to be able to hop on the Connector to ride up to Findlay Market to get a delicious sammich. Even when we lived downtown, we never really got up to Findlay Market all that much. Now I can see myself taking the Connector up to Findlay Market to grab a sammich, a gelato or pick up something to bring home for our dinner. Coworkers are already talking about taking the Connector to Taft’s Ale House for lunch or Rhinegeist for drinks after work. It’s cool how it makes downtown seem even easier to navigate than it already was.  The Cincinnati Bell Connector is pretty A-okay with me. 🙂

Taken with Instagram.

We had delusions of grandeur that we were going to get up this morning and make it to one of the many, many amazing brunch options in Northside. But we started puttering and then football came on, and we decided just to grill up some burgers instead…

Later, we watched FC Cincinnati pick up a very important three points in their match away to Wilmington Hammerheads. But apparently, Orlando City B came away with the 2-0 win…

It was a great day of football, all of our teams won (except for the Cowboys) and I’m leading in five of my six fantasy football leagues. Taken with Instagram. 🙂

In remembrance.

In remembrance of those lost but never forgotten.

Northside Second Saturdays.

We ventured out this afternoon to check out Northside Second Saturdays. On the Second Saturday of each month, you can snack your way through the Northside business district and see the latest art exhibits, have a meal, listen to live music and top it off with drinks. We were eager to check it out for the first time…

Our Second Saturday started on a very somber note. Sarah Cole, owner of Tickle Pickle, was hit and killed by a car crossing Hamilton Avenue on Thursday. There was a makeshift memorial outside of Tickle Pickle that gave us both chills and brought tears to our eyes…

It’s terribly sad beyond words. After paying our respects and drying our eyes, we continued down Hamilton Avenue to Market Side Mercantile

There’s some really great stuff in there. It’s a like a mini City Flea right in our backyard. There are definitely some very reasonably priced pieces that we could easily find a place for in our house. We’ll be back for those very soon…

We made the decision to come back to a handful of little shops and galleries to get lunch first…

We ordered chips and salsa, couple of tacos and the jerk chicken quesadilla at Django Western Taco

And the Michigan game was on TV! As we were eating some pretty ominous storm clouds started to appear on the horizon…

And it started pouring…

And it was really coming down out there. So we drank margaritas at Django while we waited out the storm. Did you know Django has a great little back patio?

Eventually, the rain stopped. On the way home, we ducked our heads into Northside Tavern

Northside Tavern was hosting a performance by the School of Rock Mason celebrating Nirvana’s Nevermind…

It was REALLY very impressive. We listened to those kids belt out a few Nirvana songs, and we decided to head for home…

On the way home, the sky was just amazing…

It was a really fun Saturday even despite all the rain. We had planned on swing ing back through some more little shops, maybe hitting Urban Artifact or The Littefield and maybe Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition. Hopefully, it will be a little bit drier for Second Saturday in October. 🙂

Happy Streetcar Day!

Cincinnati finally got to ride on it’s streetcar CB Connector for the first time today!

I also took a longer video with my Polaroid CUBE of the Connector from the corner of Main and Eighth Streets. I can’t wait to use my commemorative streetcar token to ride it for the first time next week. 🙂

Pause for paws.

Northside Farmers Market and Pickle Gose.

After work this evening, I met Genifer at Hoffner Park for this week’s Northside Farmer’s Market

We picked up a few vegetables and some odds and ends, then headed over to Urban Artifact to try their newly tapped Pickle Gose…

We weren’t really sure what to expect. But it was surprisingly good. I don’t know that would want to drink a couple three of them in a row but it was pretty good for the first pickle beer I’ve ever had.

There’s always something interesting going on at Urban Artifact. I can’t wait to see what they come up with for next week’s #TapTuesday 🙂

Good morning & good evening from Northside.

It was a Tuesday after a long holiday weekend. Needless to say, we didn’t do much this evening. At all.

We ordered pizza, got sucked into a silly a movie on TV and took Oscar for a couple of walks around the block…

But it sure was a pretty morning and beautiful evening. 🙂

FC Cincinnati versus St. Louis FC.

FC Cincinnati defeated St. Louis FC 2-1 in front of 17,415 at Nippert Stadium. Ugo Okoli netted both FC Cincy goals – one in the 84th minute and another on a penalty kick in second-half stoppage time. FC|C had the better run of play through the entire match and really deserved this win. It was a great game and terrific way to wind down a wonderful Labor Day weekend. 🙂

Sunday Funday.

Happy Labor Day weekend! This afternoon we rode our bikes across Northside for the very first time…

And we rode them over to Urban Artifact

It was a really easy, little ride…

We had a couple of beers and brought home a growler of Keypunch. On the ride home, we stumbled upon this little, fun-looking waterpark and community pool…

We saw this garage labelled garage…

We came home and grilled up a whole bunch kabobs and steaks…

Oscar kept creeping closer and closer…

Delicious stuff. It turned out to be a really beautiful day and a gorgeous evening…

Especially after Notre Dame lost, that was the cherry on the Sunday. 🙂
