It’s Skyline time!

It was Skyline time for lunch today…

I tried one of their new limited time andouille sausage coneys…

It was pretty good but I’ll just stick with my normal cheese coneys with extra mustard and no onions. 😀🧀🌭❤️

A foggy morning.

It was very foggy this morning in downtown Cincinnati…

😀🌁❤️

Deskey details.

I helped put up this wheat paste mural on the side of our building this afternoon…

It was promoting a Deskey/Bluearth sponsored documentary called LOOK & SEE: A Portrait of Wendall Berry

LOOK & SEE revolves around the divergent stories of several residents of Henry County, Kentucky who each face difficult choices that will dramatically reshape their relationship with the land and their community.

In 1965, Wendell Berry returned home to Henry County, where he bought a small farm house and began a life of farming, writing and teaching. This lifelong relationship with the land and community would come to form the core of his prolific writings. A half century later Henry County, like many rural communities across America, has become a place of quiet ideological struggle. In the span of a generation, the agrarian virtues of simplicity, land stewardship, sustainable farming, local economies and rootedness to place have been replaced by a capital-intensive model of industrial agriculture characterized by machine labor, chemical fertilizers, soil erosion and debt – all of which have frayed the fabric of rural communities. Writing from a long wooden desk beneath a forty-paned window, Berry has watched this struggle unfold, becoming one of its most passionate and eloquent voices in defense of agrarian life.

Filmed across four seasons in the farming cycle, LOOK & SEE blends observational scenes of farming life, interviews with farmers and community members with evocative, carefully framed shots of the surrounding landscape. Thus, in the spirit of Berry’s agrarian philosophy, Henry County itself will emerge as a character in the film – a place and a landscape that is deeply interdependent with the people that inhabit it.

Pretty neat stuff. 😀❤️

It’s what’s for dinner.

We had spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread for dinner tonight…

I love spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread! Taken with Instagram. 😀🍝❤️

Pause for paws.

I read a heartbreaking story about a border terrier named Rocco. He lost his life after his collar got caught on a kitchen door handle while his owner was at work.

Tonight, we have taken Oscar’s collar off in memory of Rocco…

We’re going start leaving his collar off while he’s at home. Love and thoughts are with Rocco’s family. RIP Rocco. #CollarsOffForRocco 🐾💔 Taken with Instagram.

It’s just embarrassing.

We went to Second Place to watch the USMNT take on Trinidad & Tobago in the final qualifying match for next summer’s World Cup in Russia…

Our USMNT needed a win against a Trinidad & Tobago squad that had only won one match in qualifying. They had one win, eight losses, and no draws. Handing T&T one more loss would guarantee the USA a spot in Russia but a tie would more than likely put them into the World Cup finals as well. And the USMNT played really well against in their 4-0 rout of Panama on Friday

And the USMNT lost 2-1. They finished fifth behind Mexico and Costa Rica and Panama and Honduras. Fifth out six teams in the hexagonal table. Next summer’s World Cup finals will be the first without American involvement since 1986. Disappointing doesn’t really cover it. It’s just really dang embarrassing. But I haven’t been this disappointed and embarrassed in the United States since Trump was put in the White House.

But hey, at least it was a pretty evening before the match…

What the heck is happening to our once-great country? 😀🇺🇸⚽️😬😥🚫🏆😭

Taco Tuesday.

It was Taco Tuesday again at Silverglades Deli on Eighth…

YUM!  😀🌮❤️

You hold the key.

You Hold the Key is a community awareness and engagement campaign aimed to promote dialogue and inspire empathy around the issue of homelessness in Greater Cincinnati through public art.

Today, I saw some of the You Hold the Key artworks along Eighth Street on my way to pick up something for lunch…

Fantasy football update.

36496598773_1944734904_o

We just wrapped up Week 5 of the 2017 fantasy football season and my seven teams are a combined 29-6! At 4-1, I’m in first place in my money league at work. Rounding out the rest of my teams, I have another team at 4-1, two teams at 3-2, and I have three teams that are still undefeated at 5-0! 😀🏈👍❤️

No more leaks!

The sink in our second-floor bathroom is now fixed!

HOORAY! No more leaks! Taken with Instagram. 🛠️🚫💧
