GABP welcomed Bronson Arroyo back to the mound for the first time since 2014 after he had Tommy John surgery. And it was Bronson’s first start for the Reds after he elected to test the free agency market and left for the D-Backs back in 2013…
Despite the Reds being in first place, there weren’t many people at tonight’s game…
Unfortunately, the Reds lost 1-5 to the Brewers.
It was just a beautiful night for a baseball game. And win or lose, the Reds games are always so much fun. It’s just amazing to be back at the ballpark. It’s my happy place. š
Today is National Walking Day! Even though the forecast called for lotsa rain, I really couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate than taking a walk down to Great American Ball Park for Reds Opening Night 2017! We parked by Lytle Park and walked down to the game…
I’ve been to every single Opening Night since 2010, and Genifer and I have been to every Opening Night together since 2012…
One of GABP’s new fatures this year is the Teppanyaki Grill featuring a $15 Bahn Mi sammich and a $20 Lobster Tail. Lobster Tail is baseball food right?
Also new is a Cheetos Popcorn stand. You can have Cheetos right in your popcorn…
The Fox Sports Ohio condominium was packed…
Another new food offering is Keystone mac & cheese…
A rainbow started to appear on the other side of the river…
What an incredible Reds Opening Night! The Reds won, Brandon Finnegan tossed seven fierce innings giving up just 1 hit with 9 Ks, Votto went yard, we get free Larosas pizza from the Reds 13 Ks, we got a free Reds 2017-18 calendar, the rain stayed away from the most part and we saw a rainbow! That’s what I call a great Opening Night!

I designed this Opening Day graphic to hang in our front windows at work…
And I had my #CapsOn for Opening Day…
I wore one of my favorite Reds ballcaps for #CapsOn Opening Day. I won this hat in a giveaway from Skyline. It’s one of my favorite caps because it has two of my favorite Cincinnati things embroidered on it, Reds and Skyline…
Baseball is back! We can’t wait for Opening Night! ā¤ā¾ā¤
It was fan appreciation weekend and that meant there was a really big crowd on hand for today’s game, almost 8,600. Even the upper bowl of US Bank Arena was open…
LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!
At the end of the first period, the Cyclones were leading 2-0 over the Toledo Walleye…
ā¤ā¤ā¤During today’s hockey game, we were on Kiss Cam at US Bank Arena!ā¤ā¤ā¤
And the end of the second period, the game was all knotted at two…
In between the second and third periods, there wasĀ Full Throttle go-kart racing on the ice of US Bank Arena…
The Cyclones jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the third period…
Make that 5-2!
Now they just had to hang in there for a little over three minutes…
Because with the win, theirĀ five goals tonight would mean free pizza for everybody!
The Cyclones still have a pretty good chance of making the ECHL playoffs. Who knows? Maybe we’ll get to see our Cyclones a couple more times yet this season. But if not, it was another great season of Cyclones hockey, and we definitely look forward to seeing them play again in October.
Back when we were in the Dominican Republic, we had tickets to a Cyclones hockey game that we obviously couldn’t use. We swapped those tickets for tonight’s Cyclones regular season home finale. We decided to make an afternoon of it and rode our beloved 17 bus into downtown to have a little fun before the hockey game…
We walked down to The Banks to check out some of the new places that have opened…
We went to check out latest new downtown burger joint calledĀ Burgerfi…
We streamed the FC Cincinnati match away to Pittsburgh while we were waiting for our order to be ready. We each ordered aĀ BurgerfiĀ Cheeseburger and shared a Cry+Fry…
Look at the size of those gorgeous onion rings…
They’re practically the same size as the burgers…
Those are some pretty awesome burgers!
Burgerfi really kinda reminded me a lot ofĀ In-N-Out Burger with their really, REALLY awesome burgers. I can see taking many walks down to The Banks for aĀ burger forĀ lunch during the work week. Really great stuff! After we were all done with our burgers, we went two doors down to check out the latest bar from 4EG called The Stretch…
The Stretch has cocktails on tap…
But they hadĀ Urban Artifact‘sĀ SlideruleĀ on tap. So we had a couple while we watched the first half of the South Carolina-Gonzaga game. And we streamed the second half of the FC Cincy match. They notched their first win of the season 1-0 over Pittsburgh.Ā Ā Hopefully, the Reds can get their first win in a couple days as well…
These are a couple of really fun new places in The Banks. We wished we could have paid a visit to the new Pies & Pints in The Banks as well. Next time. It was a really fun pregame afternoon that we look forward to repeating next hockey season. š
We have tickets to this Saturday’s final home Cyclones game of the regular season. Hopefully, the ‘Clones can end the home regular season on a high note. š
