USOC17: FC Cincinnati versus New York Red Bulls.

IT’S MATCH DAY! THE MATCH DAY! US Open Cup semi-finals between New York Red Bulls of MLS and our FC Cincinnati. Live from Nippert Stadium…

It was a match surrounded with such eager anticipation that my parents drove all the way down from Michigan for it. FC|C head coach Alan Koch said before the match that his upstart FC Cincinnati US Open Cup Cinderellas should be known as FC Disneyland.’ Speaking of Disneylands, Nippert was buzzing childlike excitement and wonder…

They’re in the process of installing a brand new huge video scoreboard at Nippert. It’s going to be the same size as the scoreboard out in left field at Great American Ballpark…

At the other end of Nippert was a little make-shift video screen…

At the New York Red Bulls end of Nippert, the US Open Cup semifinal banner down in the corner was pretty incredible…

There’s Red Bulls and sometimes USMNT star, Sacha Kljestan

And 99 is former Southampton and England striker, Bradley Wright-Phillips

Here come the supporters groups on their way to The Bailey…

O say can you see…

The Bailey’s tifo was pretty awesome…

Some of the other banners were pretty good too…

HERE WE GO…

GOAL! 1-0 FC CINCINNATI! Corben Bone fired FC|C to an early lead

And there’s the whistle for halftime with the score still 1-0 to FC Cincinnati!

SPRINKLES!

And here we go. The second half is underway…

2-0 FC CINCINNATI! AUSTIN BERRY!

A sell-out crowd in the neighborhood of 36,000 was expected for tonight’s semifinal. Any number over 35,613 would have broken the current attendance record set in the 2011 US Open Cup final between the Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire. But we fell just short of that mark tonight, there were 33,250 at tonight’s match which is a new US Open Cup non-final attendance record. And I just missed getting a photo of the attendance when it was announced because they put it on the runner board, not the little video board…

Red Bulls pulled one back to make it 2-1…

And then they tied the game…

At the full-time whistle, it was still 2-2. This one’s going into extra time…

Red Bulls took the lead 3-2…

The final 15-minute extra time half…

There’s the final whistle and FC Cincinnati’s magical Cinderella story US Open Cup run has come to the end of its road. Red Bulls were just too much tonight and won 3-2

FC Cincinnati head coach, Alan Kock praised his team after the game

FC Cincinnati’s Jeff King said it best

Regardless of a score 2nite, remember this passion. Remember ur pride. Remember this amazing run. Remember this movement you helped build.

And what an amazing run it was! It’s one that will be long remembered and reminisced about for ages. 😀⚽️🏆❤️

Another lazy Sunday.

We had another pretty lazy Sunday. We did a little bit of yard work. But mostly we just laid around and watched a whole bunch movies. And we ordered another amazing NYPD cheese pizza…

You can’t forget about the delicious NYPD cheese pizza. Lazy Sundays are always the best Sundays. 😀🌞🎬🍕❤️

FC Cincinnati x Higher Gravity.

We walked down to Higher Gravity this evening to watch FC Cincinnati play away to rival, Louisville City FC. And where the beers were great, the match was not…

FC Cincinnati lost 5-0 to Louisville City FC. I’d like to think that FC|C was caught looking ahead to Tuesday’s HUGE US Open Cup semi-final match against New York Red Bulls at Nippert Stadium, and just took their eye off the ball during this match. Hopefully, the USOC match on Tuesday will be much, much more competitive. 😬⚽️❤️

Northside nubs.

There’s another new business set to open sometime this fall in Northside, The Park Diner. It’s going into the space that was once occupied by Park Chili at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Lingo Street…

It’s always exciting to have something new pop up just down the street from you. 😀❤️

Corners of our home.

This afternoon we ran around and picked up some bedding for our new queen-sized bed in our front guest bedroom…

You can check more Corners of our home on our Tumblr. 😀🏡❤️

Summer Hours: Streetside Brewery.

It very rare that we find ourselves over on the east side of town. But after chasing around after FC Cincinnati rally towels, that’s exactly where we found ourselves.
We decided to finally check out Streetside Brewery on Eastern Avenue over in the
East End/Columbia-Tusculum part of town for the first time. We’d tried a couple of their beers at Higher Gravity in Northside, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good they were. We were really excited to see what else Streetside had in store…

We arrived at Streetside just ahead of one of those beer tours…

Genifer has a Tea Bags and I had a Little Balls of Blue mixed with the Goseface Killah while we watched Arsenal take on Leicester City in the kick-off of the new EPL season…

Streetside offers a range of steamed sammiches as well…

In hindsight, I wish I would have tried a sammich. Genifer wishes she got a steamed soft pretzel. Oh well. Next time. Eventually, the beer tour moved on to their next location…

Awesome place. Great beers. Next time we find ourselves on the east side of town, we’re definitely stopping back into Streetside for a beer and a steamed sammich. 😀🍺🍻❤️

FC Cincinnati x Cincy Shirts.

I’ll be the first to admit it. I love rally towels. Like, really love rally towels. I don’t know how or where it all started, probably with the Reds NLDS game 3 back in 2010 and then it got cemented with the Reds NLDS game 3 in 2012. I started carrying one of those Reds rally towels with me everywhere I went. And now I just really love rally towels. I seek them out. And track them down. No matter where I go, I always seem to have at least one, stuffed in a pocket. More than likely, there’s another one stuffed in my bag. I have at least one for almost every major sports team I support. But I didn’t have an FC Cincinnati rally towel. So imagine how excited I was to see this post from Cincy Shirts this morning…

Thankfully, I had Summer Hours this afternoon. When Genifer picked me up from work, we beat feet up Main Street into Over-the-Rhine to Cincy Shirts OtR location…

But it turns out somehow the FC|C rally towels were only at the Cincy Shirts Hyde Park location. So much to Genifer’s chagrin, we were back in the car heading to Hyde Park. Long story very short, we both got a new FC Cincinnati t-shirt from Cincy Shirts

And now we finally have FC|C rally towels…

Once again, all is good in the world. 😀⚽️❤️

Good morning.

Good morning from Northside. 😀☁️⛅️❤️

Good evening.

We walked Oscar a little later than usual and it was really pretty outside this evening…

😀

It’s what’s for dinner.

As I mentioned earlier, Genifer’s been trying out all the new line Kroger Prep+Pared meals where all the ingredients you need are included right in the box. Tonight, she prepared the Vietnamese-Inspired spicy lemongrass pork with coconut rice & cabbage salad

Is it just me or do these meals keep sounding better and better?

And it was delicious…

It might be my favorite one yet! Every one of these meals that we’ve tried has been excellent. And they’re still cheap than going out to dinner. YUM! 😀🐷❤️
