Northside Saturday.

Early this afternoon, we walked down to Blue Jay for lunch…

We both had grilled cheeses and fries. My grilled cheeses had so much turkey on it…

After lunch, we walked over to Urban Artifact…

UA was hosting the Holiday Ohio Explored Ohio Maker Mart. We didn’t know there were going to be food trucks at Urban Artifact this afternoon. I don’t know that we would have skipped Blue Jay though. Those grilled cheeses really hit the spot…

There was even more stuff downstairs in UA’s taproom…

It was really fun to wander around and look at all the crafts. If you were looking for a new hand-knit winter hat, this was the place for you. Genifer got two new winter hats. And I got a really shiny ring with beautiful inlays. After the Maker Mart, we walked down to Second Place for a drink. They replaced all their beer tap handles with the tops of trophies. I wonder how long they’ve been like that and I never noticed…

It was another really fun Saturday in Northside. We love our neighborhood. 😀🛍️❤️

Chocolate mint stout and empanadas.

After work this evening, I hopped the Cincinnati Metro 11 bus…

I rode the eleven up to East Walnut Hills…

I met her just around the corner from her work at Woodburn Brewery. Because we saw that Woodburn had their Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout back on tap. It’s the beer that tastes just like a Girl Scouts Thin Mint cookie…

There were also empanadas from Che. I really love empanadas…

We got the trio of empanadas. We tried the beef, Cuban and pepperoni empanadas…

All of them were very good but the traditional beef empanada is always my favorite.

I was a fun Friday evening with great empanadas and a pretty outstanding beer. We’ll have to do this again soon. 😀🍺❤️

Our 2018 Higher Gravity Beervent Calendar.

This evening we stopped at Higher Gravity for a beer. We wanted to try Platform Beer Company’s Fostered Bananas Sour Berliner Weisse and Brink Brewing’s Armored Heart Coffee & Vanilla Stout…

And we had to pick up our 2018 Higher Gravity Beervent Calendar…

It’s like any other Advent calendars used to countdown the days of Advent in eager anticipation of Christmas. Except with this calendar, there’s a different beer behind every door. We can’t wait to see what beers are waiting for us every day as we inch closer to Christmas…

Parfaits & calzones as big as your head.

This afternoon we walked over to our favorite brewery, Urban Artifact…

Not too long ago at Urban Artifact, we finally got to try Wildfire Pizza Kitchen’s pizza. And their pizzas were outstanding. Today, we wanted to share one of their calzones and some cheese bread for lunch. Their calzones are huuuuge…

They’re so tasty! Ours was stuffed with pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. And you can’t beat their cheese bread. It’s one of the best things around. To wash down all that deliciousness, Genifer had an Operation Plowshare and I had a Strawberry Parfait…

They also had actual strawberry parfaits…

I was going to have one for dessert after we finished our calzone and cheese bread but we missed our window and they had it all cleaned up and put away by the time we finished. Next time, I’ll have to eat my lunch faster so I can have some dessert. What a delicious Saturday afternoon! And when we heading out, we saw this classic beauty…

And now our day is complete. 😀🍕🍓❤️

Thursday evening at Listermann.

After work this evening, we stopped at Listermann Brewing Company’s taproom across the street from Xavier’s campus…

We’ve been to Listermann before. We pre-gamed there before one of the very first FC|C preseason matches against Xavier, and we loved going to their Volksfest. Earlier in the week, we saw on their Instagram that they had a Mexican Chocolate Chickow on tap that sounded very intriguing. And then we saw that they also had a Mexican Chocolate Stout on tap as well called Pastel Con Amigos. But when we got to the taproom, they were both already gone. But there were a lot of other interesting sounding beers on tap…

We decided to start with a flight…

Father Kyle’s Cinnamon Stout was really good. As was Satisfied? Their Cookie Wizard had glitter in it. You can sort of see it here…

In my opinion, Nutcase is one of Listermann’s best beers. Sooo peanut buttery! Seen and noted that Thursday night is also Wing Night in the taproom…

We didn’t partake but we ordered some other stuff from Renegade Grille…

We ordered some deep fried mac ‘n cheese balls, loaded cheese fries and a fried bologna sammich to share…

The fried bologna sammich and loaded fries were out of this world…

It was a fun Thursday evening. We can’t wait to come back for another fried bologna sammich and some more incredible beers. 😀🍺❤️

What the heck?! Part three OR Roll for Ohio Skee-Ball Championship.

After work this evening, we had to stop at the auto parts store to get some tail light bulbs for the Jetta. On our way to the auto parts store, we saw this cargo container truck that must have taken the corner too fast to first on Spring Grove Avenue from Mitchell…

That’s the third flipped over vehicle we’ve seen this year. After we got our new bulbs, the traffic was ridiculous what with the flipped over truck and all. So we decided to stop at Taft’s Brewpourium for a beer and a little bite to eat while we waited for the traffic to die down. Unbeknownst to us, Taft’s Brewpourium was hosting The Roll for Ohio Skee-Ball Championship tonight presented by Ohio Lottery. The event pitted Cleveland versus Columbus versus Cincinnati in a battle of skee-ball supremacy. It was all linked via a live televised feed between the three cities. The city with the highest total points from two hours of skee-ball would be declared the skee ball champion of Ohio…

Taft’s was really crowded for a Thursday night. We weren’t sure if it was for this event or if it was because of the traffic or if it’s just always best after work on Thursdays…

The Ohio Lottery was handing out Ohio Lottery skee-ball coasters and skee-ball scratcher lottery tickets. Genifer won $30 with her lottery ticket. I didn’t win anything with mine…

We got an order of loaded tots and their knots…

Their stuff is so good.

We rolled some skee-ball. I had a couple of really good games with three or four 50 point rolls in a row…

It was a very fun event to just sort of stumble into this evening. Later, we saw Cleveland ended up winning The Roll for Ohio Skee-Ball Championship. 😀🏆❤️

Urban Artifact & Wildfire Pizza.

Oscar was watching us leave from our front window this afternoon…

“Hey, hey. Where are you going?” Sorry, buddy. We were heading out to walk over to have a beer at one of our favorite spots, Urban Artifact…

And we wanted to finally check out their new wood-fired pizza kitchen located just across the courtyard called Wildfire Pizza Kitchen…

We’ve been drooling over their photos on Instagram for a while now. We were really excited to try it. We each ordered a personal-sized pizza and cheese bread…

Their pizza is outstanding! We’re always happy to have another great pizza place in the neighborhood. Northside is quickly becoming the best pizza neighborhood in Cincinnati. And we love it! 😀🍺🍕❤️

Happy National Sausage Pizza Day!

Today was National Sausage Pizza Day. And I love sausage pizza. It’s my all-time very favorite pizza topping. On our way home, we stopped at Taft’s Brewpourium…

They had their delicious Gourd to Death Brown Ale on tap…

It’s sooo good. And speaking of good, the Brewpourium was running a special today. You could get a 16” sausage pizza AND a six pack available for just $16 to celebrate National Sausage Pizza Day! We ran into our friends Chris and Tayler. And played a few rounds of Last Call Trivia with them. Our team led after the first round and then it all kind of went downhill from there. We brought home our pizza and six pack…

Their pizza is so delicious! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate! 😀🍕❤️

Das boot night.

Tonight just happened to be Das Boot night at Higher Gravity with hefeweizen from Weihenstephan, the world’s oldest brewery…

It was a pretty good hefe. And we got to take home our boots! We also got to try the new Braxton & Graeters Pumpkin Pie collaboration…

It was really good. Very pumpkiny. But it’s still just a little bit too early for me to be drinking pumpkin beers. As soon as it starts to feel more like fall outside, it’s on. I also saw this beer from Streetside that sounded interesting but we didn’t try it…

Maybe next time. However, we did bring this guy home this guy…

Northside Saturday.

We walked down to Melt for lunch again this afternoon…

Genifer had the Rachel. Again. In our opinion, it’s one of the best sammiches in all of Cincinnati, if not the whole world. I always get the Rachel as well. Sometimes I’ll get a Hoffner. But today, I finally broke down and tried the Pad Thai Wrap that I’ve been eyeballing for quite some time now…

It was really good. Melt makes incredible sammiches and mac & cheese too…

After lunch, we shared a whiskey sour made with egg whites. Delicious.

Then we stopped in Higher Gravity for a beer. Today, we tried Streetside’s OhEmG!…

And oh my gosh, was that beer good. It was like a mouthful of raspberries without all the annoying little seeds. We also tried Streetside’s collaboration with Platform called Be A Lot Cooler If You Did too…
