FC Cincinnati versus FC Montreal.

Tonight, FC Cincinnati was playing host to one-win FC Montreal. FC Cincy was looking to continue on their SEVEN match undefeated run in the USL. When we got out of our Uber, Rhinegeist and The Pride were having a pregame party along South Market Street…

But we always stop into The St. Clair before every match. They have an amazing happy hour before every home FC|C match…

And then we head over to Nippert Stadium…

SPRINKLES!

O Canada…

SPRINKLES!

Here we go…

The game paused for a hydration break…

The USMNT took a 1-0 lead over Paraguay…

And FC Cincinnati was awarded a penalty!

GOOOOOAL! FC Cincinnati! Sean Okoli converted the spot kick for FC|C!

And at halftime, it was 1-0 to FC|C…

SPRINKLES!

And the second half is underway…

GOOOOOAL!! FC CINCINNATI! 2-0! Okoli again!

There were six minutes of time to be added on…

The USMNT won…

And there’s the whistle for full-time! 2-1 to FC|C!

FC Cincinnati runs their undefeated streak in the USL out to EIGHT matches! And Sean Okoli was named to the USL Team of the Week. FC Cincinnati will be back at home this Saturday, June 18th as they welcome some more of those Canadians into Nippert Stadium. Struggling Toronto FC II will be in town. I hope The Bailey can find a clever way to poke fun at the team from “We The North” and that there aren’t any Drake sightings at Nippert. 🙂

This just happened.

This just in… Our loan has been approved! This is actually happening…

We’ll close sometime the beginning of next week! This is so exciting! It’s still hard to believe that very soon we’ll be living in this amazing house. Northside, here we come!
😀

First Watch.

We had breakfast at First Watch on Seventh Street this morning. Little-by-little over the last few weeks, they’ve been doing some redecorating of their interior. It’s a very welcome update. It looks very rustic and farm-fresh now…

Brand new look inside, same great breakfasts…

And The Elevated Eggwich was one of the best breakfast sammiches I’ve ever had…

Even after all this time, First Watch is still one of the best options for breakfast in all of Central Business District. 🙂

Summer Hours.

Deskey lets us work just a half-day every other Friday throughout the summer. They call it Summer Hours. And it’s pretty flippin’ awesome. Today was my first Summer Hours Friday, and it looked like this outside as I was leaving work…

So we went out to Eastgate to look at Best Buy for washers and dryers. And by the time we got over there, wouldn’t you know it? The sun was back out, and it was gorgeous outside. Along the way, we stopped at Five Guys for lunch…

I’ve only eaten at Five Guys one other time. It’s really not a bad burger, at all. And then we went to Jungle Jim’s to look for Jamaican Jerk spices and rubs…

We’re going to figure this Jerk Chicken out one way or another…

After Jungle Jim’s, we stopped by Mount Carmel Brewing for a beer…

When got home, we took Oscar out for a walk…

It turned out to be a really beautiful evening…

We were going to walk over to Fountain Square to listen to the Indie Summer bands but I nodded off watching the Reds and the Copa America Centenario soccer tournament. All in all, it was a pretty good first Summer Hours Friday. 🙂

It’s what’s for dinner.

Today was just a normal Thursday. Nothing really noteworthy happened all day. The highlight of our evening was ordering LaRosa’s calzones and salads for dinner…

YUM! Taken with Instagram. 🙂

Reggae Wednesdays.

Tonight, we went over to Fountain Square to check out our first Reggae Wednesday of the PNC Summer Music SeriesMy favorite Reggae band, The Ark Band made a surprise appearance…

They were the playing with Yabba Griffiths, who was all the way from Jamaica…

Just Jerks: Ena’s Jerkmania food truck was on the Square serving up delicious Jamaican Jerk Chicken dishes…

We shared the Spicy Jerk Chicken and rice box with fried plantains and maniac sauce…

Holy geez was it ever delicious and spicy! I’ll never get tired of looking at Carew Tower…

Great night. 🙂

Reds baseball game #9.

Tonight, we walked down to GABP to watch our Reds take on those whiny bird Cardinals from St. Louis…

Because one our favorite ex-Reds pitchers was on the hill tonight, Mike Leake!

BARGE!

These guy were either giving the $1 hot dog stand a work-out, or doing the All-You-Can-Eat-Seats the right way…

Adam Duvall hit a dinger for the Reds…

The Cardinals tied the game at 6 in the top of the ninth…

In the bottom of ninth, Joey Votto hit a walk-off home run for the Reds win! Walk-off, Mr. Votto! Walk-off!

The Reds game are always fun, especially when they win! 🙂

The Rook Board Game Parlor.

This evening we walked up Vine Street into Over-the-Rhine to check out the brand new board game parlor called The Rook

The Rook is Cincinnati’s first Board Game Parlor, and features nearly 1000 board games along with a full service bar and restaurant serving game night classics!

Growing up, we used to play Rack-O a lot…

I remember playing Hi-Ho Cherry-O…

And classics like Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land…

They had all sorts of drinks with nostalgic touchs like adding a candy necklace garnish, or a pop rock or pixie stick cover rim…

Genifer started with a Tequila Sunny D Rise…

We ordered everything from the “Straight from the Game Table” section of the menu. We tried the traditional classic rolls, bacon & sharp cheddar dogs and the cheesy buffalo chicken tots…

Everything was really good. But hands down the winner was the traditional classic rolls…

Then we got into some games. We started Chutes & Ladders and Candy Land…

And then we dove into some Sorry!

Genifer also tried the Capri Against Humanity drink…

How fun is that? We also played a few rounds of Exploding Kittens and multiple hands of Uno! It was a really fun trip down memory lane. And definitely one that we look forward to taking again very soon! Such a few evening! 🙂

Downtown details.

Lytle Park. One of my favorite places in all of downtown Cincinnati. 🙂

FC Cincinnati versus Richmond Kickers.

This evening we hopped an Uber up to UC’s Nippert Stadium to watch our FC Cincinnati take on the Richmond Kickers…

Just before the match, the skies started to look pretty ominous…

It started pouring as the teams came out onto the pitch…

A little disappointing… no tifo from The Bailey for tonight’s match.

Oops. Richmond kick-off guys…

And 30 seconds into the match, it was delayed for lightning…

There was a rainbow over Nippert…

Finally, the teams made their way back to the pitch to warm up for the restart…

And after about an hour, we were back underway…

GOOOOOAL! FC Cincinnati!

My man, Sprinkles was waiting in the wings for halftime…

And at halftime, it was still 1-0 to FC Cincinnati…

SPRINKLES!

The second half gets underway…

We must have missed the attendance when it was announced at the match. But tonight’s titanic struggle was played before a crowd of 11,278! Another really great crowd!

The Kickers keeper came up for the last minute corner in the dying moments of regulation…

And Mitch said no! Amazing save by Mitch Hildebrandt! There were three minutes of time to be added on…

And wouldn’t you know it in the fourth minute of three minutes of time added on, the Kickers netted the equalizer. :/ And that was the ballgame. It ended 1-1. FC|C snatched a draw out of the jaws of victory…

FC Cincy is still on a SEVEN match undefeated run in USL competition. And the boys will be back at home next weekend as they host FC Montreal at Nippert Stadium. 🙂
