Happy birthday, FC Cincinnati!

Three years ago today, it was announced that FC Cincinnati was getting a USL soccer team. I remember being stunned and then incredibly excited by the news that there was going to be professional soccer in Cincinnati. And that it was going to be played right in our backyard at Nippert Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati…

We were so excited! We went to Rhinehaus in OtR to meet one soccer idols, John Harkes who was named head coach of the Queen City’s fledgling soccer team…

Happy birthday, FC Cincinnati! It’s been an amazing three years of USL soccer! 😀⚽️❤️

A Saturday afternoon in OtR.

This afternoon we caught an Uber down into Over-the-Rhine. Our friend Chris just had a birthday and his wife, Tayler was throwing him a bar-hopping surprise party that started at Rhinegeist

Decisions, decisions…

We got down to Rehinegeist a little bit early so we could finally check out their rooftop…

The Rhinegeist rooftop patio…

It’s super nice up there. But we went back downstairs to get some food. Rhinegiest’s taproom is on something like the third or fourth floor of the building. On the first floor is Sartre, the hottest restaurant & bar according to Zagat. Two things on a side note, the hottest restaurant and bar just sounds really uncomfortable and sweaty. And Zagat also said Steak ‘n Shake had the #1 rated milkshake. Steak ‘n Shake. So I think you should really take their recommendations with a grain of salt. But I digress, Sartre. In addition to having a restaurant and bar on the first floor, Sartre also has a kiosk in Rhinegeist’s taproom that I should have taken a photo of but didn’t. They take your order at the kiosk and Sartre sends your food up to the taproom in oversized banking tubes, and they call it tube food. That’s awesome! And I’m so mad that I didn’t take any photos of the kiosk or the tubes. But Genifer ordered a pretzel and I got a burger. And here it is…

And that was one really terrific burger…

So, sooo good. Rhinegeist really fills up on a Saturday afternoon…

On May 15th, National Dinosaur Day was Jurassic Geist at the Rhinegiest Taproom…

According to a tweet I saw in celebration of World Dinosaur Day, Cincy Museum Center teamed with Rhinegeist to display their 50-foot Galeamopus dinosaur in public for the first time! This YouTube video shows the process of putting together a 150-million-year-old dinosaur! We’ll definitely have to get back down to Rhinegeist to see the dinosaur and get some photos of tube food…

From Rhinegeist, we walked over to Taft’s Ale House

Then we swung through Sundry and Vice before heading to Mecca OtR

Chunkers!

From there, we made our way to 16-bit

And they had Slush Puppie drinks…

And then we stopped into Longfellow

And then it was onto Rhinehaus to watch the end of FC Cincinnati’s 4-1 loss away to Charlotte Independence. Everyone headed to 4EG’s newest bar, Rosedale. Rosedale was stupid packed. And somewhere between point A and point B, we got separated from our group. We tried to track them down but to no avail. So we hopped in an Uber and headed back to Northside where we stopped at Higher Gravity for a nightcap. It was a really fun afternoon and evening of bar hopping in Over-the-Rhine. 😀🍺🍻🥃🍸🍹❤️

Seen and noted.

I’ve never noticed this warehouse behind the Cincinnati Ballet at the corner of Liberty and Central Parkway before this morning…

Now when we drive into downtown in the mornings, I can’t stop looking at it. And every day I wonder how people got all the way to the roof to tag up there. 😀🌆❤️

Good evening.

I got a couple of photos of tonight’s sunset with my Polaroid CUBE on the bus ride home as the Metro 17 bus started it’s climb up the hill on West Clifton Avenue…

It was a really pretty one. 😀🌇❤️

Rhinegeist Charitable Suds.

Genifer picked me up from work this evening and we went up to Rhinegeist in Over-the-Rhine for Charitable Suds…

Every Wednesday for 5-8pm, Rhinegeist donates $1 from every draft beer sold in their taproom to a different charitable organization. And they call it Charitable Suds. This week’s organization was Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services were Genifer works in Human Resources…

So we thought we would do our part and have a beer… you know, for charity…

Every time I’ve been in Rhinegeist, I’m always so impressed by the space…

Genifer’s co-workers are really nice,and it was a really good time. 😀🍺🍻❤️

FC Cincinnati x Cincy Shirts.

I’ll be the first to admit it. I love rally towels. Like, really love rally towels. I don’t know how or where it all started, probably with the Reds NLDS game 3 back in 2010 and then it got cemented with the Reds NLDS game 3 in 2012. I started carrying one of those Reds rally towels with me everywhere I went. And now I just really love rally towels. I seek them out. And track them down. No matter where I go, I always seem to have at least one, stuffed in a pocket. More than likely, there’s another one stuffed in my bag. I have at least one for almost every major sports team I support. But I didn’t have an FC Cincinnati rally towel. So imagine how excited I was to see this post from Cincy Shirts this morning…

Thankfully, I had Summer Hours this afternoon. When Genifer picked me up from work, we beat feet up Main Street into Over-the-Rhine to Cincy Shirts OtR location…

But it turns out somehow the FC|C rally towels were only at the Cincy Shirts Hyde Park location. So much to Genifer’s chagrin, we were back in the car heading to Hyde Park. Long story very short, we both got a new FC Cincinnati t-shirt from Cincy Shirts

And now we finally have FC|C rally towels…

Once again, all is good in the world. 😀⚽️❤️

The City Flea: July edition.

Today was July edition of The City Flea at Washington Park. It’s been a while since we’ve been to our last edition of The City Flea. With FC Cincinnati playing away to those stinkers down in Louisville, we didn’t have very much to do today. At all. So we drove down into Over-the-Rhine and parked the Jetta in the Town Center Garage behind Music Hall on Central Parkway for just $3…

By the way, the surface lot just on the other side of Central Parkway next to Music Hall was charging a whopping $10 to park. So if you think about it, we kinda started our Flea seven dollars ahead!  And speaking of Music Hall, it looked like they’ve been making a lot of progress on Music Hall’s rather extensive and elaborate renovations…

Someday I’m actually going to actually get one of these Ebbet’s Field ball caps

Afterwards, we stopped into Sundry and Vice for a drink…

It was a great to wander around The City Flea again. And the drinks were delicious! 😀

Deskey+Elementz.

We are working on a visual identity for a client that is all about the community of Cincinnati. We are partnering with Elementz, Cincinnati’s Hip Hop youth center. It’s essentially an urban arts center where inner city kids can gather and create anything from hip-hop to street dance, spoken word poetry to street art, photography and visual arts. We’re teaming up with four Elementz students for inspirational design to ensure our identity is representative of the community. The students were asked to use their creative platform of choice to develop a concept that represents their community.

This afternoon we got to meet with the students and tour Elementz…

Those are some very super talented kids. And Elementz space is pretty amazing. It’ll be great to work with this group and see what we can come up with together. 😀

Queen City Radio.

After work this evening, I walked up to 12th and Central Parkway to meet Genifer and our realtor, JJ for a drink at the relatively new, Queen City Radio

Another new really fun place! I love how more and more of the bars and restaurants that are opening here and there are including large outdoor patio spaces. 🙂

Mecca OtR.

After Ciderfest, we walked over to 15th and Walnut Streets to check out a pretty new artsy bar callled Mecca OtR. Mecca is owned by the same people that Cheapside

Mecca has great murals for days. And every restroom has custom artwork…

And I completely forgot to take a photo of Mecca’s incredible outdoor patio…

Mecca has these great, inventive drinks called Chuggers with one of those little airline liquor bottles inverted in a can of San Pellegrino…

Such a great idea…

Great place. I’m glad we finally got to check out Mecca. 🙂
