We had a couple of their Key Punch key lime gose sours. They were pretty amazing…
When we got home, we thought about going over to nada for their Cinco de nada celebration. But it started to sprinkle. So we just called it a night. We had been to nada’s Cinco de nada celebration in 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011ย andย 2010. So we felt pretty okay missing this year’s festivities. Taken with Instagram. ๐
Last night, FC Cincinnati played away at Orlando City B. The match was supposed to start at 7:30pm. But kickoff was delayed by weather four times. We weren’t terribly upset by the weather delays because it gave up time to run to Dairy Queen in Northern Kentucky to grab some Blizzards before the match started. Finally, the match actually started at 9:45pm. And as loyal supporters of our home town team, we stayed up late and watched the entire match, and we were rewarded with a 3-1 FC|C win! But this morning, we’re feeling a bit like Oscar…
The last time we saw Johnny Cueto pitch at Great American Ball Park was the day we got engaged all the way back last summer in July. He got traded to the Kansas City Royals, got his ring and then was traded to the San Francisco Giants. The Giants were in town for three games and guess who was pitching the first game of the series… our boy Johnny Beisbol.
And Cueto got was better than Votto in the first. Cueto versus BP?
After Cueto go through the first, we headed up to Cincinnati Bell’s The Fioptics District…
We moved down to the terrace to watch some more of the game…
The Giants jumped out to a 3-0 lead in second… BARGE!
Cueto versus Votto round two…
And Votto took Cueto yard!
The storm clouds were looking pretty ominous. But the rain stayed away. For once.
The Reds roughed up Cueto for six runs in the third…
Back up to The Fioptics District Rooftop…
Genifer got a hot dog, and I got some chicken fingers. I offered to share my chicky fingers with her but she wasn’t impressed. She was pretty adamant that chicken fingers aren’t baseball food. Baseball food or not, they were pretty delicious…
The Reds bullpen imploded. Again. And gave up five runs in the top of the seventh…
And theย Reds ended up losing 9-6. It’s going to be a long season. But The Fioptics District is a really fun area to hang out in. It offers a really different perspective of the game. Good stuff. ๐
Five years ago today, we went to a Reds game on our first. Tonight, we celebrated the five-year anniversary of our first date by going to watch FC Cincinnati’s third home match of the season at Nippert Stadium. It was a English evening for football, all grey and rainy…
FC Cincy was playing host to Wilmington Hammerheads FC…
Here we go…
Wilmington was awarded a penalty after an ill-advised sliding tackle right on the endline but still very much in the box…
And with that, it was 1-0 Hammerheads…
We moved to the landing just above our section so we could stand and try to pace off some our nervous energy…
At the end of the first half, it was still 1-0…
At halftime, kids got to take penalties on a sprinkled donut…
And the second half was underway…
FC Cincinnati pulled level! 1-1!
Game on!
It started pouring. We moved over under an overhang to escape the driving rain…
FC Cincinnati had a lot of great chances especially toward the end of the second half but couldn’t capitalize on any of their opportunities, and the match ended in a 1-1 drawย in front of a crowd of 11,300…
FC Cincinnati hasย two matches coming up this week. They play away at Orlando City on Wednesday, and then away at Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday. Both matches will be available to stream live through YouTube. ๐
