Westside Saturday.

Good morning from Northside…

We went out to The Westside to sign our tax documents to be sent off to the tax people…

We’re getting a little money back from federal and state and broke even with Cincinnati.

While we were over there, we stopped at the grocery for some dog food…

And then we stopped at Jersey Mike’s Subs to get lunch to take home with us…

I had only ever eaten at Jersey Mike’s one other time a long time ago. I don’t even remember what I ordered. This time I got the #56 Big Kahuna and it was really good.

Other than that, we were pretty lazy. We’ve been watching Shadow and Bone on Netflix. It’s pretty good.

There were a couple of good photos in my Timehop today. First was Oscar riding around in the back of our Jetta…

And there was this photo proving that once there was indeed grass in our backyard…

And this photo of Mack all crashed out…

😀🌄📰🥪🐾❤️

It’s a sign.

Not surprisingly, Western Bowl is closed. Because everything is closed…

We ran out to the Westside to pick up our taxes this morning. We’re getting money back from both state and federal. 😀💰🎳❤️

Panda Express.

So believe it or not, we’ve never eaten at a Panda Express. This afternoon we found ourselves out on the Westside at Western Hills Plaza, and we decided to try Panda Express for the very first time…

It was odd trying a place for the first time during a pandemic. There were blue tape lines on the floor so everyone knew how far to stay apart…

It was our turn to order. And there were so many delicious looking options…

We learned that at Panda Express you choose your meal size: a bowl (1 entree & 1 side), plate (2 entrees & 1 side) OR bigger plate (3 entrees & 1 side). And then you choose your entree and side. Panda Express has a bunch of different entree choices…

Genifer ordered a bowl of the Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice. I ordered a plate with Orange Chicken and Mushroom Chicken with fried rice…

Panda Express was really, really good stuff. I think we just found a new place to stop for lunch whenever we find ourselves over on the Westside. 😀🐼🥡❤️

There still aren’t any paper products.

We stopped at Target out on the Westside this morning and there were still no paper products like toilet paper, paper towels or even napkins. Just empty shelves…

We didn’t need any. Thankfully, we had a good supply built up well before there was ever the thought of a pandemic. It’s just crazy to me just how little is available now. People are pretty ridiculous with their hoarding. 😠🧻❤️

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We exchanged our Christmas presents this morning…

Santa was very good to us. We went over to Genifer’s brother’s house for a little bit before heading out to her mom’s in the afternoon for Christmas dinner and more gifts…

When we got home, we set everything on our dining room table so the dogs wouldn’t get into things they shouldn’t be getting into and it looked like Christmas exploded all over our dining room. What a terrific holiday mess…

We had a really wonderful Christmas in Cincinnati. And we hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! 😀🎄🎅🎁❤️

Champions!

This afternoon we drove over to the Westside to find Elder High School…

Our nephew, Liam’s St. Antoninus Jaguars were playing in the GCYL Division I Reserve Football League championship at Elder High School’s “The Pit” Elder Stadium…

Liam’s St. Antoninus team won 28-6, the same score they won by in the semi-final.  They won the championship and went undefeated on the season!

Congrats, Liam! 😀🏈❤️

On our way out of “The Pit,” we saw this terrific Lego replica of the stadium…

Pretty neat.

A Westside Saturday.

We were over on the Westside of Cincinnati this afternoon. And we stopped at Cancun Mexican Grill for lunch. Genifer had been wanting a quesadilla for a while now. We’ve eaten at the Cancun at Western Bowl. But we’ve never eaten at this Cancun location at Glenway Crossings before…

It’s surprisingly big on the inside…

Genifer ordered her quesadilla…

I got a ground beef Chimichanga. It’s hidden under all that sour cream…

See? There it is…

At the end of the day, it didn’t really hit the spot. Genifer didn’t really care for her quesadilla and my Chimi just tasted like sour cream. Bummer. On our way back home, we decided to stop and finally check out West Side Brewing

It was a surprisingly big place as well…

We stopped to try their Pumpkin Spice Infusion

It was their amber ale run through a contraption to infuse the beer with vanilla and some sort of “pumpkin spice mix.” It was pretty good.

All and all, everything was just okay. But that’s why you try new things. Sometimes they’re awesome and sometimes they’re just okay. That’s how you know. 😐🇲🇽🌮🎃🍺❤️

A Roost + Putz’s + ceiling fans.

This afternoon we ran over to Lowe’s on the Westside to get a ceiling fan for our front bedroom on the second floor of our house. On our way back home, we stopped at Ron’s Roost for lunch…

Ron’s Roost has some amazing chicken. And then we stopped at Putz’s Creamy Whip for malts. We’ve lived in Northside all this time and never stopped at Putz’s…

Ohmigosh. I love Butterscotch malts so much. They’re my favorite. When we got home, we installed our brand new ceiling fan…

And then we watched a movie upstairs with the dogs who were waiting for us…

We had a good weekend. 😀🐔🍦🐶❤️

Saturday morning errands.

This morning we got up and moving and headed over to Trader Joe’s in Kenwood…

We love Trader Joe’s. We’ve become kind of obsessed with their stuff especially their Mandarin Orange Chicken. It’s better almost every takeout Chinese food that we’ve had. And it’s only $4.99. It’s so dang good.

Then we stopped by the new At Home store in Norwood…

I felt like I was in that last scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark

From there, we headed out to The West Side to collect our taxes. We got money back on the federal but we owed the state and city. But we came out ahead. After we got our taxes, we stopped into Meiner’s Fine Meats…

I wanted to try their World Famous Chicken Salad

We a little container of the chicken salad (it was awesome), a little bit of their pasta salad and a couple of these awesome buffalo chicken egg rolls…

Meiner’s has really great stuff. And their meats looked out of this world. We’ll have to go back when it’s a little bit warmer outside when we can grill a bunch of stuff. After we were done at Meiner’s, we stopped a BDubs to share some boneless wings for lunch…

Oh, and mini corn dogs. I love their mini corn dogs…

On the way home from The West Side, we saw this sign for Chester’s Chicken at a Shell gas station on Boudinot…

That chicken is so darn cute. I wonder how the chicken is? It was a really good Saturday morning. We got a lot accomplished and we were still home by one o’clock. 😀🗺️❤️

BDubs & Brink Brewing.

After dropping off our taxes, we stopped at BDubs on The Westside for lunch…

I think their mini corn dogs are one of the best things around…

Genifer ordered garlic parmesan boneless wings…

And a side of fries…

I had the buffalo chicken sammich…

After we were done with lunch, we stopped at Brink Brewing in College Hill…

Brink always has some pretty awesome beers…

Great lunch and great beers make for a great Saturday. 😀🐔🍺❤️
