Mr. Fix-It.

The lock on our back door broke this evening. I went to let the dogs out the back door into the yard and the little knob came right off in my hand…

We had to use needle-nosed pliers to get the back door open. Thankfully, we could also use the needle-nosed pliers to get the door to latch again after they came back inside.

UPDATE: I managed to find the exact same lock at Wood’s Hardware downtown and replace the lock and add a deadbolt to our back door. It was surprisingly not that difficult at all. This is now the third lock I’ve replaced in our house. A while back the deadbolt on our front door broke after unlocking it to get into our house when we were coming home one evening. And I replaced that lock with little difficulty as well. I’m becoming quite the master locksmith. Haha. 😀🔐❤️

Bird Scooters?

I’ve been seeing these electric Bird Scooters all over around downtown…

Just one day, they just appeared out of the blue, and in a matter of a couple of days, they were literally everywhere downtown. I didn’t know very much about them at all. And I really didn’t give them much of a second thought. Having just had both hips of my replaced, the last thing I need to be doing is hopping on an electric scooter and zipping around downtown. But after seeing Casey Neistat talk about them on one of his vlogs, I became more curious and downloaded the app to learn more about them.

After you download the app, agree to the terms and conditions and enter billing information, it would appear that you’re good to go. Now from what I understand, you use the app to locate a scooter near you (and looking at the map, they’re everywhere downtown.) Once you find a scooter, you use the app again to unlock the scooter by scanning the barcode on the handlebars. You put the kickstand up, kick-start the scooter three times, then use the throttle button on the handlebar. You ride with both feet on the footboard, use the handbrake to slow down and obey the traffic laws. You end your ride by tapping the END button in the app. Apparently, the scooters cost $1 to unlock with an additional 15¢ a minute until you end your ride and relock your scooter whenever you get to wherever you’re going.

Initially, I’m very skeptical about these scooters. But I was also very skeptical initially about Uber and now we use Uber all the dang time. So someday when I’m feeling particularly brave, I’ll have to take one of these scooters for a ride and check it out.

Hello praying mantis.

When we were sitting out on our back patio, a praying mantis appeared out of nowhere and started climbing up the side of my water bottle…

It was kinda crazy to have a praying mantis just wander by and say hello. 😀🦗❤️

A stop at Streetside.

Being right in the neighborhood after lunch at Taglio, we stopped for a little sampler at Streetside Brewery. We love Streetside…

#15 was outstanding! Trouble in Paradise Millkshake Blonde with mango, passion fruit and guava. It was more like drinking juice and less like drinking a beer…

And we brought home a couple more crowlers with us to bring up to Michigan…

😀🍺❤️

Urbana Cafe.

On the way to my physical therapy, we stopped in East Walnut Hills at Urbana Cafe for a coffee. Urbana Cafe just recently opened down the street from where Genifer works and she thought the place was so cute that I had to see it…

Such a cute little cafe. And the coffee was really good too. I want to open a super cute little coffee shop just to decorate it and then post photos to its Instagram. 😀☕️❤️

You saw it here first.

It’s August 1st. And the CVS downtown has Halloween Candy out on the shelves…

August 1st. Please stop rushing my summer. Thank you. 😀🎃❤️

This is what I’ve waiting for.

This morning was my very first physical therapy with two new hips. I’ve been waiting so long for this moment. I’m very excited to start working on making both legs stronger…

I look forward to the day when I can walk again without any pain or discomfort. And hopefully, that day is quickly approaching very soon. Taken with Instagram. 😀🏥❤️

Checking in on the OscarCams.

Every time we check one of the OscarCams, it records a photo to the device you’re checking the camera from. Our third-floor street view OscarCam probably gets checked the most often so we can see what the parking situation is like on our street. Today, we could have parked wherever we would have liked on our street…

You can’t beat the OscarCams. 😀🎦❤️

It was the oddest thing.

The oddest thing that happened to me today. An entire set of pins we made for our wedding guests in Jamaica showed up my mailbox at the office…

Kinda odd, right? Taken with Instagram. #gtfjamaica2016

We saw it again.

We drove past that odd little building next to the train tracks that run alongside I-75…

It’s such an odd little building. 😀💀❤️
