Brink Brewing’s 2nd anniversary.

This afternoon we hopped on the Metro 17 bus to head up into College Hill…

It was Brink Brewing‘s 2nd-anniversary party

It was pretty busy. A lot of people must like Brink as much as we do…

They had a lot of great beers on tap for their birthday party. We had Mint Oreo Moozie Milk Stout and Business Meeting Oatmeal Stout with raspberry and vanilla…

And we had some lunch from Stellar Street Eats

And there was even some birthday cake!

Happy birthday, Brink! Thanks for 2 great years and here’s to many more to come!
😀🍺🎂❤️

The most epic Saturday.

This afternoon we bus the Cincinnati Metro 17 bus downtown to celebrate my birthday. First stop on our adventure was one of most favorite bars from when we used to live downtown, Igby’s

From Igby’s, we walked down to The Banks

We were planning to eat at Moerlein Lager House

But even after being open all this time, it was still packed on a Saturday night…

So instead, we walked back up to the new Galla Park where the old Crave used to be…

I’ve been on a White Russian kick since we went to Northside Distilling

As is our new custom, we shared Galla Park’s giant soft pretzel…

It was pretty terrific. Their mustard was outstanding. And we also shared Galla Park’s Cuban sammich…

It was very good as well. It’s good to see that something new is now in the space the Crave used to occupy. We have a lot of fun memories in that space. From Galla Park, we headed down the block to US Bank Arena

Ealier, we bought tickets to tonight’s Cyclones hockey game against Tulsa Oilers…

In the new ECHL app, you can purchase Cyclones tickets through your phone…

And that means, we don’t have to wait in line to buy Cyclones tickets anymore…

It was a pretty full house tonight at US Bank Arena…

Cheers! It’s good to be back ‘Clones!

The Cyclones were already up 2-0 by the time we were in our seats…

And it was pink the rink night tonight…

At the end of the second period, it was 6-1…

And then there was chuck-a-puck…

CYCLONES WIN!

The Cyclones thumped the Oilers 7-1! Seven Cyclones goals and four fights makes for one heck of a hockey game. It was great to finally be back at US Bank Arena watching our Cyclones play hockey again. And soon we’ll be back at GABP too!

From US Bank Arena, we walked over to catch the Streetcar Cincinnati Connector

We rode it up into Over-the-Rhine and got off at Twelfth and Vine Streets…

We walked back down Twelfth Street to Main to the new Platform Beer taproom that just opened for the very first time tonight…

We found this little private room where we could hang out and drink our beers…

I don’t normally dig wallpaper in bathrooms but this wallpaper is just wow…

Platform’s taprom is such a fun place and an incredible additon to Main Street…

From Platform, we walked up Main Street to The Pony for a nightcap…

And from The Pony we hopped in an Uber and headed home. And it brought to an end a pretty epic Saturday. 😀🥃🏒🍺❤️

Out in Pleasant Ridge.

Tonight, we meet our friends Chris and Tayler in Pleasant Ridge to celebrate. They just closed on their house earlier in the day. Our first stop was back at Nine Giant

After yesterday’s pretzel awesomeness, Genifer and I decided that whenever there is a giant soft pretzel on the menu we have to order it…

Nine Giant has a pretty solid pretzel. Their cheese was really good.

Nine Giant is a really fun little place. Really good beers. I really like their Conjure Me Sweet Milk Stout a lot.

And then we walked next door The Shining inspired Overlook Lodge

Genifer ordered the Writer’s Block made with bourbon, apple-berry sweet tea, and elderflower liqueur…

And I got the Apollo 11 made with vodka, espresso syrup, cold hot cocoa, almond milk and topped with a toasted marshmallow…

Genifer also tried The Calumet with bourbon, peach-pecan whiskey, ginger liqueur, allspice dram, lemon, carrot juice, black walnut bitters…

It tasted like Thanksgiving all in our glass. Our friend Megan took this photo…

She must have the first camera phone ever made ever. Anyway, it was a really fun evening out in Pleasant Ridge. 😀🥃❤️

Congratulations Chris and Tayler on your new house!

Sam Adams Taproom.

This evening we also stopped by to check out the relatively new Sam Adams Taproom on Central Parkway right around the corner from Findlay Market. We drive right by it every day on the way to and from work. This evening we got to see what it’s all about…

It’s a pretty nice place. I could definitely see hanging out here on a regular basis…

We ordered a couple their giant pretzels…

That pretzel was amazing. It might have been one of the best pretzels I’ve ever eaten.

We hung out for a little bit and managed to come in third in a spelling contest they were having that night…

I’ve heard of weeknight trivia contests. But I’ve never heard of spelling bees. It was different. Anyway, we walked away with a $10 gift card. It’s such a fun place…

And their patio is going to be amazing in the summer…

Sam Adams new taproom. Come for the beer. Stay for the pretzels. 😀🍺🥨❤️

Another Northside Saturday.

So recently, I’ve been tinkering with the notion of buying a new camera. Most likely a new point&shoot but maybe a 4/3 mirrorless camera. I’d start looking at cameras and I always stop because the camera on my new Samsung Galaxy Note9 is sooo good. It’s really become my go-to camera. It’s always right there in my pocket. And the quality is probably just as good as one of my dSLRs. So I’ve really hesitated to pull the trigger on a new camera. Then I stumbled across Moment. They are very stylish cases for your mobile device that have different attachable camera lenses. It’s a pretty genius idea.

Recently, I ordered a Moment case for my Note9. I also ordered Moment’s Superfish lens. But for whatever reason, they sent me their 58mm Tele lens instead. After playing with it for a bit. I decided to keep the Tele lens. The lens gives your photos this awesome vignette in the corners. It’s a look I’ve always loved. And then I thought somewhere down the line, try again to get the Superfish.

Genifer gave me one of my birthday presents early today. And it was the Superfish lens!

I grabbed my brand new lens and we headed out a really late lunch at Blue Jay

The super fish lens is super neat. It gives you a 170-degree field of view, and it really expands the capabilities of your mobile camera. I really like it a lot. I also really like this chicken tender sammich I ordered at Blue Jay…

Genifer ordered a grilled cheese with tomatoes…

We love Blue Jay. Their food isn’t anything fancy. It’s just really solid and delicious and ridiculously inexpensive. After we were done with lunch, we walked down to Higher Gravity for a flight…

While we were at HG, we met up with our friends Chris and Tayler…

There’s a brand new brewery that’s been in the works in Northside for a while now called Humble Monk Brewing Co. It’s just kitty-corner to Urban Artifact. And we heard that they were opening just for this weekend for people to try their first beers while they raise more funds as they can continue the renovations upgrades to their brewery.

So we had to walk over to check it out…

Their beers were pretty good. Nothing too out of the ordinary. They had four beers on tap at the start of the day. But had already run out of one of them. We tried their Saison/Farmhouse Ale and their Imperial Stout. I thought the stout was really good. A little on the boozy side but still pretty good. We hung out for a beer. Their space is pretty great if they could get more beers together. Here are a few photos of industrial Northside when I was playing with my Superfish lens…

And from there, we headed around the corner to The Hamilton

I think The Hamilton has some of the best charcuterie boards around…

I love their charcuterie. After we finished our delicious meats and cheese, we headed for home. We walked the dogs around the block…

And called it a night on another wonderful Saturday in Northside. 😀⬆️❤️

Chickowsvidanya.

We stopped into Higher Gravity to try Listermann Brewing’s Chickowsvidanya

It’s a bourbon barrel aged imperial dark ale collaboration with Destihl Brewery. It was really good. And we also tried Listermann’s Chickowsvidanya: Coffee, Cinnamon, and Vanilla. It’s also a bourbon barrel aged imperial dark ale but with coffee, cinnamon, and vanilla added…

And that one was outstanding. It might have been one of the best beers I’ve ever had. It wasn’t too boozy but it had just the perfect amount of coffee, cinnamon, and vanilla flavor, all working exquisitely together. It’s a real shame it was $12 a bottle or I would have started stockpiling them. But we’re very happy that we got to try both of them before they disappeared. We love Listermann’s beers. 😀🍺❤️

Woodburn + Che Empanadas.

After work this evening, I hopped on the Metro 11 bus…

I rode it up into East Walnut Hills to meet Genifer again at Woodburn Brewery

Their chocolate mint imperial stout is just out of this world…

And then the Che empanada truck pulled up right outside Woodburn’s front door…

We got three delicious Che empanadas and chips&salsa which turned out to be much more like nachos than chips&salsa…

And Cincinnati was bracing a big snopocolypse…

So we finished our empanadas and beers and headed for home before the white death began. 😀🍺❤️

Saturday fun.

This afternoon we walked over to Urban Artifact to go try their brand new Pink Guava Parfait Beer on draft in their taproom…

And it was delicious! While we were at Urban Artifact, we also had another delicious Wildfire Pizza Kitchen pizza for lunch. We shared a small Margherita pizza and some of their amazing cheese bread…

Wildfire’s pizza is so dang good. Later, we tagged along with our friends Chris and Tayler who were going over to their soon-to-be new neighborhood, Pleasant Ridge to check out Nine Giant Brewery & Kitchen

Nine Giant had some really good beers. I liked their Conjure Me Coffee Milk Stout

I was diggin’ this Nine Giant trucker cap…

And they have some really neat artwork on their walls. I like all the monsters…

It was another really fun Saturday. 😀🍕🍺❤️

Taft’s Brewpourium.

This evening we stopped at Taft’s Brewpourium for a flight

And one of their delicious new haven style apizzas and some loaded tots…

We love Taft’s Brewpourium. It’s always delicious. 😀🍕🍻❤️

Urban Artifact’s Ram Press.

On the way home from work this evening, we stopped at Urban Artifact

They were tapping a limited batch of their new Ram Press Spiced Apple Tart Ale

We thought it was really pretty amazing. It tasted just like a delicious cross between applesauce and an apple strudel especially with the sugar on the rim of the glass. We also tried a taster of their Wine Poached Pear. It was very good as well. They create such incredible tasting beers at Urban Artifact. Completely different than anything else around. No wonder they’re one of our favorite breweries. 😀🍏🍺❤️
