We love steakburgers & spicy beers.

This afternoon we went back to Freddy’s to have steakburgers for lunch…

And afterwards, we stopped Brink Brewing Company to try their Kickin’ Wing – Mango Habanero IPA

I got my beer in a collector local artist glass that we got to take home with us and we also ordered a little tin of bourbon BBQ peanuts…

The Kickin’ Wing – Mango Habanero IPA was outstanding. It had just the right amount of heat and the sweetness of the mango perfectly offset the bitterness of the hops. It was right up there as one of the best beers I think I’ve had. 😀🍔🍺❤️

We’re ready for some football.

We have some beers in our fridge for the start of football season. 😀🍺❤️

Urban Artifact Smoothie Bar.

This evening at Higher Gravity, they had an Urban Artifact Smoothie Bar…

You choose your Urban Artifact beer and then you choose from a variety of fruit juices to add to your beer to create your smoothie. We tried a Berry Banana Blast Smoothie…

And my favorite was the Strawberry Banana Smoothie…

Higher Gravity is always doing something different and fun. 😀🍺❤️

A flight at Brink.

After lunch at Freddy’s, we stopped at Brink Brewing in College Hill for a flight…

Brink has some really good beers. And Brink had a food truck out in their parking lot, Taco Oso. They had some really interesting sounding tacos. The one that stood out to me was a Mexican BLT taco…

But we were so full from lunch that we couldn’t even think about eating anything else. We’ll have to keep an eye out for Taco Oso in the future. 😀🍺🐻❤️

UPDATE: When we got home, there was a Zipcar parked right in front of our house…

JJVE used one when we were up in Michigan. They said Zipcar is really big out in Boston. I guess Zipcar is much more popular in places other than Cincinnati. Because we haven’t seen a Zipcar around Cincinnati in forever.

A stop at Streetside.

Being right in the neighborhood after lunch at Taglio, we stopped for a little sampler at Streetside Brewery. We love Streetside…

#15 was outstanding! Trouble in Paradise Millkshake Blonde with mango, passion fruit and guava. It was more like drinking juice and less like drinking a beer…

And we brought home a couple more crowlers with us to bring up to Michigan…

😀🍺❤️

Sunday Funday.

Yesterday morning, we took Mack to the vet for his ears. He’s fine but we have to take him back next Thursday to his ears flushed. Poor guy. He’ll be okay. But he’s an absolute wreck in the car. He just stands in the back seat and drools everywhere. It’s pretty gross. But after his vet appointment, we ventured into an area we’ve never been to before looking for a Dunkin Donuts for coffee. What we ending up stumbling upon was an area called Finneytown that neither of us had been to before. This afternoon we went back over to Finneytown to have lunch at a Buffalo Wings & Rings we found…

It was really good. Their wings were outstanding and their onion rings were pretty okay. But my favorite part of lunch was starting with an order of mini corn dogs. They were so good. After lunch, we stopped in College Hill to have a beer at Brink Brewing

We had a couple of beers while watched Colombia knock Poland out of the World Cup and played a best out of five in Sorry! Genifer then sank my Battleship and we played a bunch of Uno. It was a really fun Sunday Funday. 😀🐔🍺❤️

A Saturday afternoon in OtR.

This afternoon we caught an Uber down into Over-the-Rhine. Our friend Chris just had a birthday and his wife, Tayler was throwing him a bar-hopping surprise party that started at Rhinegeist

Decisions, decisions…

We got down to Rehinegeist a little bit early so we could finally check out their rooftop…

The Rhinegeist rooftop patio…

It’s super nice up there. But we went back downstairs to get some food. Rhinegiest’s taproom is on something like the third or fourth floor of the building. On the first floor is Sartre, the hottest restaurant & bar according to Zagat. Two things on a side note, the hottest restaurant and bar just sounds really uncomfortable and sweaty. And Zagat also said Steak ‘n Shake had the #1 rated milkshake. Steak ‘n Shake. So I think you should really take their recommendations with a grain of salt. But I digress, Sartre. In addition to having a restaurant and bar on the first floor, Sartre also has a kiosk in Rhinegeist’s taproom that I should have taken a photo of but didn’t. They take your order at the kiosk and Sartre sends your food up to the taproom in oversized banking tubes, and they call it tube food. That’s awesome! And I’m so mad that I didn’t take any photos of the kiosk or the tubes. But Genifer ordered a pretzel and I got a burger. And here it is…

And that was one really terrific burger…

So, sooo good. Rhinegeist really fills up on a Saturday afternoon…

On May 15th, National Dinosaur Day was Jurassic Geist at the Rhinegiest Taproom…

According to a tweet I saw in celebration of World Dinosaur Day, Cincy Museum Center teamed with Rhinegeist to display their 50-foot Galeamopus dinosaur in public for the first time! This YouTube video shows the process of putting together a 150-million-year-old dinosaur! We’ll definitely have to get back down to Rhinegeist to see the dinosaur and get some photos of tube food…

From Rhinegeist, we walked over to Taft’s Ale House

Then we swung through Sundry and Vice before heading to Mecca OtR

Chunkers!

From there, we made our way to 16-bit

And they had Slush Puppie drinks…

And then we stopped into Longfellow

And then it was onto Rhinehaus to watch the end of FC Cincinnati’s 4-1 loss away to Charlotte Independence. Everyone headed to 4EG’s newest bar, Rosedale. Rosedale was stupid packed. And somewhere between point A and point B, we got separated from our group. We tried to track them down but to no avail. So we hopped in an Uber and headed back to Northside where we stopped at Higher Gravity for a nightcap. It was a really fun afternoon and evening of bar hopping in Over-the-Rhine. 😀🍺🍻🥃🍸🍹❤️

Northside Saturday.

After the fog this morning lifted, it turned out to be a pretty nice day. It wasn’t all that particularly warm but the sun was out and that made for a nice change of pace. We walked over to Boswell’s

We had a hankering for cheeseburgers and Bos bites…

Afterwards, we stopped into Urban Artifact for a beer…

My sister, Shannon sent us a $25 Giftly gift card to use at Urban Artifact. We definitely put it to good use and ordered a couple of UA’s special tap, Blueberry Parfait

Urban Artifact had a mailbox and postcards on their bar celebrating their new tart IPA called Postcard

Keep your eye on your mailbox for a postcard from us thanks to Urban Artifact. It was another really fun day just hanging out in our neighborhood. It’s so nice to be able to walk places again! 😀🍔🐔🍻❤️

A Friday night treat.

This evening Genifer brought us home a pre-St. Patrick’s Day treat… A growler of the Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout that tasted just like a Girl Scouts Thin Mint cookie from The Woodburn Brewery Taproom in East Walnut Hills…

That is one really delicious beer! 😀🍻🍀❤️

An evening out in East Walnut Hills.

This evening we ventured off across town to another up-and-coming neighborhood in Cincinnati, East Walnut Hills

Genifer works right around the corner. She was excited to check out some of the places she sees every day but hasn’t had the chance to visit yet. Our first stop was at Woodburn Brewery and Tap Room

We’ve tried a couple of Woodburn’s beers on tap at Higher Gravity and they were really good so we were excited to see what else they had…

We got a flight. We tried the Breakfast Porter, American Brown and Imperial Stout…

Did I mention it was a Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout that tasted just like a Girl Scouts Thin Mint cookie? It was one of the best beers I’ve tasted in a quick minute…

Woodburn Brewery also had some small bites by Mazunte…

We got the guacamole and chips and the nachos…

The nachos were really good but they were just too much food. I’m still really kicking myself for not just getting the beer cheese. When in doubt, always go with the beer cheese. Especially when you’re at a brewery.

We did another flight with two barrel-aged beers and another taster the Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout. It was such an amazing beer. There’s already been talk of Genifer taking one or two of our growlers with her to fill up with the Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout some day after work. It was a really great place. And we can’t wait to come back soon. Then we went across the street to meet friends at Myrtle’s Punch House

As you could expect from the name, Myrtle’s specialty is serving punch…

Our punches are handcrafted and can be ordered by the glass, in a flight, if you want to try a bit of each, or in a bowl to share with your friends! There are always four options on tap to choose from, and we feature punches with recipes dating back to the 1700’s, as well as new and innovative approaches to this classic cocktail.

We shared a punch bowl of the Mark Twain punch made with Bourbon, Pimms, lemon, black tea, apple cider and honey…

How adorable is that punch bowl? And the punch was very tasty…

But at $24, the punch bowl seemed a bit on the pricey side to me. Like any punch, it was mostly juices and mixers with a splash of the good stuff. Don’t get me wrong, Myrtle’s is a pretty fun place too. I just think presented with the choice, we’d always lean towards beers over cocktails.

It was a pretty fun night out in East Walnut Hills. And we got to check out a couple of new places. It’s a nice place to visit but I’m really happy we live in Northside. 😀🍺🍹❤️
