Sam Adams Taproom.

It was gorgeous this evening. We wanted to go sit out on a patio and have a beer.  So on the way home, we stopped at Sam Adams Taproom on Central Parkway…

We shared one of Sam Adams delicious giant pretzels…

Big Dogg’s BBQ was parked out on Sam Adams patio…

We also shared one of Big Dogg’s Pulled Pork Parfaits…

Awesome. What an incredible way to enjoy this beautiful evening. 😀🍺🥨❤️

Our Opening Day in OtR.

After work, we stopped by Platform Brewing’s Locoba at Twelfth and Main Streets to watch the Reds Opening Day baseball game against the Pirates…

We had a couple of Platform’s beer while we watched the game…

Both of the beers were very tasty…

And the Reds won their Opening Day game 5-3 after a four-run seventh inning, capped off by a three-run pinch-hit home run from Derek Dietrich…

And then we walked down Main Street to The Pony…

Where we found that The Pony had Bell’s Habanero Mango Oberon on tap…

And they were giving away Bell’s Oberon chapsticks…

It was a pretty great Opening Day! It’s great to have baseball back! 😀⚾️❤️

Woodburn + Che empanadas.

This evening I rode the Metro 11 bus from downtown to East Walnut Hills…

I met Genifer at Woodburn Brewery for a beer and some Che empanadas

I really like Woodburn’s beers and Che’s empanadas. I like them a lot. 😀🚌🍺🥟❤️

BDubs & Brink Brewing.

After dropping off our taxes, we stopped at BDubs on The Westside for lunch…

I think their mini corn dogs are one of the best things around…

Genifer ordered garlic parmesan boneless wings…

And a side of fries…

I had the buffalo chicken sammich…

After we were done with lunch, we stopped at Brink Brewing in College Hill…

Brink always has some pretty awesome beers…

Great lunch and great beers make for a great Saturday. 😀🐔🍺❤️

FC Cincinnati: Meet the Team.

After work tonight, we went to a special FC Cincinnati Season Ticket holder Meet the Team event at Taft’s Brewpourium. And it was awesome. Doors opened at 5:00pm. I think we got to the Brewpourium at 5:02…

We got a selfie with FC|C President Jeff Berding…

There was some sharp looking merch…

New got new FC Cincinnati MLS scarves. But I didn’t think to take a photo of them. There were a bunch of different tables set-up for autographs…

And there was this impressive sculpture work-in-progress of the Cincinnati boxing legend, the Cincinnati Cobra Ezzard Charles, When it’s completed, this larger than life statue will live outside of FC Cincinnati’s new soccer-specific stadium in Cincinnati’s West End on the street named after the boxer…

I couldn’t help but notice there are a fair number of players from Michigan on FC|C’s MLS squad including Eric Alexander, who is from Portage right next to Kalamazoo…

And there are a bunch of new guys who are not from anywhere near Michigan…

We saw FC|C’s very first MLS designated player, Fanendo Adi…

There are a bunch of new faces to learn…

And there was one of my favorite FC|C players ex-Arsenal defender Justin Hoyte…

And contrary to #HoyteIsOpen from last season, he wasn’t open for very long tonight…

He was definitely one of the more popular players at this event.

And then it was about time for the main event…

After Jeff Berding’s opening comments, every player came up on stage to be introduced and say a few words to all of us fans. There were a lot of new faces to learn…

And Manu Ledesma…

And Polish goalkeeper Przemysław “Titi” Tytoń…

That’s Eric Alexander from Portage, Michigan. He went to Portage Central High School…

Emery Welshman was one of my favorite players from last season…

After this event was over, he got sent out on loan to Canadian Premier League side, Forge FC for the season. Also, there’s a Canadian Premier League? Asking for a friend. Next was one of our favorites, the aforementioned Fanendo Adi…

And Corben Bone who lives in Northside and who we met at Higher Gravity…

And Justin Hoyte, who was still not open despite his hashtag claiming otherwise…

After USMNT midfielder Kenny Saief who just joined FC|C in the last couple of days from Belgian giants Anderlecht…

And there was defender Forest Lasso…

And there were a bunch of other guys but the above photos were the best photos. A lot of them were kind of fuzzy or blurry. I probably should have used a camera other than my Samsung Galaxy Note9 with my Moment 60mm lens…

But oh well. Then the entire team came back up on stage for a group photo…

Can you hear me in the back?

It was a pretty neat event. It was much more intimate than I thought it was going to be…

And there was a roundtable discussion with Jeff Berding, Coach Koch and the guy in charge of international recruiting…

There were autograph sessions and then all the players got pizza slices…

It was a pretty awesome night with FC Cincinnati. Click to see all the photos I took at the FC Cincinnati Meet the Team season ticket holder event. 😀⚽️❤️

Happy hour in Pendleton.

Just to the north of Jack Casino and just to the east of Over-the-Rhine lies the Pendleton neighborhood of downtown Cincinnati. Genifer noticed on Instagram that the relatively new 3-Point Brewery in Pendleton was having a Pop-Up Happy Hour Wednesday with $2 beers from 5-7pm. So after work this evening, we stopped in Pendleton to finally check out a couple places that were new to us.

We haven’t been to Pendleton since we moved to Northside. Back then all that was there was Nation. Now there are all sorts of new places like Luquis Q barbeque

Across the street is Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey

And next door to Boomtown is CHX

And next to CHX is 3-Points Urban Brewery…

3-Points is absolutely beautiful inside…

I started with a Sinking Orca Oatmeal Stout

And Genifer tried their Shoal Cincy Stout

Both beers were really good. That little CHX guy kept staring at us…

He reminded us of Oscar with his beady little eyes.

We ordered a small original breaded banty with fries from the bar and just a little while later, we received a text that our banty was ready to be picked up…

And there’s our order…

Our CHX was so good! There were so many fries in that bag. It was like a neverending bag of fries. They just kept regenerating themselves no matter how many we ate. And their dipping sauces were legit too. But the star of the show for me was the hushpuppies. Then again, I love hushpuppies. I also tried their Magic Wand Kettle Sour

And Genifer tried one of their spicy margarita draft cocktails…

Both 3-Point and CHX were awesome. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary

We can’t wait to come back to 3-Point and CHX. And we also can’t wait to check out Lucius Q and Boomtown. And eat at Nation again. It’s been way too long. Geez… Pendleton is really on the serious upswing! 😀🍺🐔🤫🐶❤️

Brink Brewing’s 2nd anniversary.

This afternoon we hopped on the Metro 17 bus to head up into College Hill…

It was Brink Brewing‘s 2nd-anniversary party

It was pretty busy. A lot of people must like Brink as much as we do…

They had a lot of great beers on tap for their birthday party. We had Mint Oreo Moozie Milk Stout and Business Meeting Oatmeal Stout with raspberry and vanilla…

And we had some lunch from Stellar Street Eats

And there was even some birthday cake!

Happy birthday, Brink! Thanks for 2 great years and here’s to many more to come!
😀🍺🎂❤️

The most epic Saturday.

This afternoon we bus the Cincinnati Metro 17 bus downtown to celebrate my birthday. First stop on our adventure was one of most favorite bars from when we used to live downtown, Igby’s

From Igby’s, we walked down to The Banks

We were planning to eat at Moerlein Lager House

But even after being open all this time, it was still packed on a Saturday night…

So instead, we walked back up to the new Galla Park where the old Crave used to be…

I’ve been on a White Russian kick since we went to Northside Distilling

As is our new custom, we shared Galla Park’s giant soft pretzel…

It was pretty terrific. Their mustard was outstanding. And we also shared Galla Park’s Cuban sammich…

It was very good as well. It’s good to see that something new is now in the space the Crave used to occupy. We have a lot of fun memories in that space. From Galla Park, we headed down the block to US Bank Arena

Ealier, we bought tickets to tonight’s Cyclones hockey game against Tulsa Oilers…

In the new ECHL app, you can purchase Cyclones tickets through your phone…

And that means, we don’t have to wait in line to buy Cyclones tickets anymore…

It was a pretty full house tonight at US Bank Arena…

Cheers! It’s good to be back ‘Clones!

The Cyclones were already up 2-0 by the time we were in our seats…

And it was pink the rink night tonight…

At the end of the second period, it was 6-1…

And then there was chuck-a-puck…

CYCLONES WIN!

The Cyclones thumped the Oilers 7-1! Seven Cyclones goals and four fights makes for one heck of a hockey game. It was great to finally be back at US Bank Arena watching our Cyclones play hockey again. And soon we’ll be back at GABP too!

From US Bank Arena, we walked over to catch the Streetcar Cincinnati Connector

We rode it up into Over-the-Rhine and got off at Twelfth and Vine Streets…

We walked back down Twelfth Street to Main to the new Platform Beer taproom that just opened for the very first time tonight…

We found this little private room where we could hang out and drink our beers…

I don’t normally dig wallpaper in bathrooms but this wallpaper is just wow…

Platform’s taprom is such a fun place and an incredible additon to Main Street…

From Platform, we walked up Main Street to The Pony for a nightcap…

And from The Pony we hopped in an Uber and headed home. And it brought to an end a pretty epic Saturday. 😀🥃🏒🍺❤️

Out in Pleasant Ridge.

Tonight, we meet our friends Chris and Tayler in Pleasant Ridge to celebrate. They just closed on their house earlier in the day. Our first stop was back at Nine Giant

After yesterday’s pretzel awesomeness, Genifer and I decided that whenever there is a giant soft pretzel on the menu we have to order it…

Nine Giant has a pretty solid pretzel. Their cheese was really good.

Nine Giant is a really fun little place. Really good beers. I really like their Conjure Me Sweet Milk Stout a lot.

And then we walked next door The Shining inspired Overlook Lodge

Genifer ordered the Writer’s Block made with bourbon, apple-berry sweet tea, and elderflower liqueur…

And I got the Apollo 11 made with vodka, espresso syrup, cold hot cocoa, almond milk and topped with a toasted marshmallow…

Genifer also tried The Calumet with bourbon, peach-pecan whiskey, ginger liqueur, allspice dram, lemon, carrot juice, black walnut bitters…

It tasted like Thanksgiving all in our glass. Our friend Megan took this photo…

She must have the first camera phone ever made ever. Anyway, it was a really fun evening out in Pleasant Ridge. 😀🥃❤️

Congratulations Chris and Tayler on your new house!

Sam Adams Taproom.

This evening we also stopped by to check out the relatively new Sam Adams Taproom on Central Parkway right around the corner from Findlay Market. We drive right by it every day on the way to and from work. This evening we got to see what it’s all about…

It’s a pretty nice place. I could definitely see hanging out here on a regular basis…

We ordered a couple their giant pretzels…

That pretzel was amazing. It might have been one of the best pretzels I’ve ever eaten.

We hung out for a little bit and managed to come in third in a spelling contest they were having that night…

I’ve heard of weeknight trivia contests. But I’ve never heard of spelling bees. It was different. Anyway, we walked away with a $10 gift card. It’s such a fun place…

And their patio is going to be amazing in the summer…

Sam Adams new taproom. Come for the beer. Stay for the pretzels. 😀🍺🥨❤️
