Cheeseburgers & thunderstorms.

Good morning from Northside…

We went to get Biggby Coffee…

Biggby Coffee is so good. We like it a lot.

We had to run some errands up north today, and afterward, we found ourselves out in Lebanon. We stopped to fill up our gas tank at this Marathon station…

It was just across the street from this train…

And we were presented with an unusual fuel option…

We decided to just go with the plus. On our back home, we stopped at Quatman Cafe in Mason for lunch. We’ve been to the Quatman in Norwood a couple of times but we’ve never been to the one in Mason before…

Quatman always has a daily special. Today’s special was a cheeseburger, fries or onion rings and a drink for $8. Two, please…

Those onion rings look delicious…

And those burgers were as delicious as they were big. And they were huge! I don’t know why we don’t do to Quatman in Norwood more. Their burgers are terrific and it’s really inexpensive to eat there. We really need to change that and eat more Quatmans.

Quatman was sooo good. When we got home, we took the dogs on a walk around the block. There were some ominous looking storm clouds that had just passed us…

But as soon as we got around the block and up to the top of the hill at the end of our street, it started raining…

And when we got home and looked out in the backyard, it was pouring…

It seemed fitting that it would rain on the end of our weekend. It was a great Monday. It was a really great long weekend. And now we only have to work four days this week to get to our next weekend!

The laziest Sunday.

We didn’t do a dang thing today. But we did go get to-go Burger King in Finneytown…

We placed our order through the Burger King app. And it turns out there are a bunch of really good deals and coupons on the BK app. We got two Original Chicken Sammiches with two small fries for just $4.99. I mean, we got a bunch of other stuff too. The only bummer part was that you could only use one deal per order. But there were a lot of deals to choose from…

I love BK. It’s probably my favorite fast food. Burger King and Freddy’s. But we never really eat fast food unless we are on road trips. We need to go on more road trips. Because our BK was so good.

We were in the backyard with the dogs, When we went to go inside, Genifer picked up her sweater off the chair and this weird little caterpillar was on it…

Good evening from Northside…

And that was pretty much our Sunday. 😀🍔🐛❤️

The first day of Summer.

Today was the first day of Summer! And it’s Saturday. Good morning from Northside…

For breakfast, I tried one of these Kodiak Cake Blueberry & Maple Flapjack Cups…

It was pretty darn good for just a little microwave pancake cup. Later, we walked down to Blue Jay to get some lunch…

Genifer ordered a huge Greek salad with a side of french fries and I ordered two cheese coneys with a side of french fries as well…

Look at the size of this pepperoncini that came with Genifer’s salad…

It was almost as big as my cheese coney. I ate it. It was really spicy. I probably wouldn’t do that again. It made my eyes water. Other than that mistake, lunch at Blue Jay was great as always.

When we were walking home, we couldn’t help but notice that the front of the Jackson Hewitt tax office was all smashed in…

Apparently last night, someone ran the red light at the corner of Chase and Hamilton and lost control of their vehicle and smashed into the front of this office, which is right on the street corner. People running red lights has become a real problem in Cincinnati. At least one or two cars go through every traffic light after the light turns red.

On our way home, we also stopped to get more milkshakes from Tickle Pickle…

Their Flan Halen strawberry milkshake is my favorite.

And then we were pretty lazy again. At least, Premier League soccer is back on TV…

I woke up super early and caught the end of the Doosan Bears Korean baseball game, The Bears won 8-2. Leicester City drew 1-1 against Watford. And my Arsenal lost 2-1 to Brighton Hove & Albion. It’s really nice to have some sports back in my life. It makes things almost feel sort of normal again. Even though life is still not normal at all.

But it was a very pretty first day of Summer…

And a very good evening from Northside…

We’re having a pretty low-key start of Summer weekend. 😀🗓️❤️

Northside Saturday.

Good morning from Northside…

We walked down to Blue Jay for lunch this afternoon…

Genifer ordered a grilled cheese with tomatoes…

I ordered Blue Jay’s chicken tender sammich…

We walked all the way down to Second Place to have a bourbon slush but come to find out that 2P doesn’t open until 3pm right now. They should really post their hours on their social media or something. So we just walked back to Higher Gravity for a beer…

I wish I could find this beer…

HG had some interesting looking beers in their cooler…

I tried one of these coffee vanilla cream ales from Columbus and it was delicious…

It was really nice to get out and get out to some places. We walked home and hung out in our backyard…

And good evening from Northside…

It was a low-key but still really good Northside Saturday. 😀🗓️❤️

Genifer made crescent roll vegetable pizza for lunch this afternoon…

I love crescent roll vegetable pizza. It’s one of those things I never get very often for whatever reason. Crescent rolls with cream cheese and vegetables, what’s not to like? And there was extra broccoli. Broccoli is one of my very favorite vegetables…

For dinner, we fired up the grill again…

YUM! Everything always tastes better on the grill. 😀🥦🐮🐔🍔🌭❤️

Smile for burgers!

I had an early afternoon meeting. When my meeting was over, Genifer got home from work super early. And we got to have lunch together. We had leftover cheeseburgers from the grill from a couple days ago…

My cheeseburger had a smile one it…

And we had some curly fries with burgers…

YUM! What a great lunch. Especially since I got to eat cheeseburgers and french fries with my baby. For lunch. 😀🍔🍟❤️

Afternoon in our backyard.

It was so gorgeous outside this afternoon. The weather tablet in our office said it was an unseasonably warm 87º outside…

Oscar’s groomer was deemed non-essential when the closed all the Ohio businesses. He’s gotten so shaggy over the six weeks. And you could tell lately he’s just been really warm and uncomfortable…

So this afternoon we tried to give Oscar a haircut…

I’ve cut my hair twice so far during the stay home. It’s turned out pretty nice both times.
I thought, “How hard could it be to cut Oscar’s hair?”

It turns out that cutting Oscar’s hair is a lot harder…

I didn’t do a very good job. At all…

Dang. Sorry, buddy. I have a new respect for the amazing job Lauren at VCA College Hill does with Oscar.

Later, we fired up the grill again…

Those burgers were just out of this world. 😀🐾🍔🌭❤️

UPDATE: Oscar’s groomer has started to take appointments again starting May 13th and he has an appointment for Friday, May 15th. So he won’t have to be uncomfortable for much longer and maybe she can even out the mess I made of his coat.

Today was a good day.

We got coffee from Sidewinder this morning and they spelled my name with two D’s…

Grey gave us the afternoon off for Easter weekend. Thanks, Grey!

This afternoon, we ran over to Genifer’s office to pickup a laptop. And on the way home, we stopped to get Skyline carry-out for lunch…

Hello, delicious cheese coneys…

Ohmigosh. We haven’t had Skyline in forever! It was sooo good. And later this evening, we ran down the street to Northside Yacht Club…

We picked up some Miller High Life’s and some of NSYC’s famous peanut tequila…

Cheers to the weekend! We wished we would have had the peanut butter tequila for last weekend’s Front Porch Pours. We just hung out, had some drinks and listened to music tonight. It was a good day. 😀☕️🧀🌭🍻🎶🤗❤️

We survived another week of shelter-in-place. Four weeks down.
