Just up the road?!

It was another rainy, grey, overcast morning in Northside…

Good morning from Northside…

We ordered Penn Station for lunch today online…

And we ran up Hamilton Avenue into College Hill to pick it up…

Ohmigosh. It smelled so good on the way home. Genifer ordered her favorite chicken teriyaki…

And my favorite is the cheesesteak…

Penn Station is so good. And they have the best fries. When we lived downtown, there was a Penn Station just around the corner from us. We’d get it quite a bit. It was always delicious. Since we moved to Northside, the closest one to us is over on the campus of University of Cincinnati. But getting to it is a pain and the parking is next to impossible. We had no idea this other Penn Station was so close. Now we know this one is literally just up the road from us, we can start getting Penn Station more often again.

And good evening from Northside…

Tonight, we finished season three of Marcella on Netflix. And tomorrow, we have to find another movie or series to start watching. Finding a new series that we can get into is always the most difficult part. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸ₯ͺπŸŸπŸ“Ίβ€οΈ

Deep dish Sunday.

Today was our last day of the our long holiday break…

And it was another grey and rainy day.

Good morning from Northside…

This morning we ran over to the grocery store to get stuff for the upcoming week…

According to the balloons at Kroger, I guess the next major holiday is the Superb Owl…

We made BLTs for lunch with turkey bacon. I really like turkey bacon a lot. I made my BLTs on little Hawaiian rolls with two slices of cheese. They were delicious…

We watched football until it was time to take the dogs on their walk.

And then it was good evening from Northside…

For dinner tonight, we enjoyed out second Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza that JJVE sent us for Christmas. The deep dish cheese pizza was really good and we were really excited to try the pepperoni one…

It looked and smelled so good…

It was delicious! Thanks so much for the delicious pizzas, JJVE! We really enjoyed them.

For dessert, Genifer made gooey deep dish cookies with chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. And we paired the cookies with little ice cream party cups…

They were delicious as well. Genifer always finds the best recipes to make.

This evening we finished the second season of Marcella on Netflix. It’s a good show.

We had a wonderful long holiday break. NO matter how long it is, it never feels long enough. I think I always have delusions of grandeur that I’m going to get more done or get more accomplished. This time I didn’t really accomplish a whole lot. But at least, we got to hang out and spend lots of time together and watch a bunch of movies and have a great holiday. And it was very relaxing. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„β˜οΈπŸŽˆπŸ₯ͺπŸ•πŸͺπŸ“Ί

Who knows. Not me.

I love this part of time off from work when you wake up in the morning and you’re not entirely certain exactly what day it is…

The clouds were so pretty this morning…

Good morning from Northside…

I ordered this adorable westie pendant for Genifer for Christmas…

I purchased it on December 12th. It didn’t ship until December 18th. It shipped USPS so it’s journey took almost forever. It arrived today. And this is what was in the box…

Delightful. Now I get to track down what I actually ordered.

Genifer ordered us Chipotle for lunch again

It started raining this afternoon and just kept raining…

I accidentally took this photo but I kind of like it…

And a very rainy good evening from Northside…

But our basement is still completely bone dry…

Thursdays are trash and recycling days…

We had leftover lasagna for dinner with garlic bread…

I love meals with garlic bread. Genifer made deep dish cookies for dessert…

We started to watch Equinox on Netflix tonight. It seems pretty good so far.

In my Timehop from two years ago, my photos on Google Maps had just gone over 3.5 million views…

Fast forward to today and my photos have 63 million views

And that’s pretty cool, if you ask me. Also four years ago, it snowed…

We don’t snow very often. But we do get a lot of great days, just like this one.

Merry Christmas Eve!

It was a grey and rainy Christmas Eve morning in Northside…

Good morning from Northside…

We ran over to the grocery to pick up a few little things for Christmas dinner…

My go-to game for time wasting is We Bare Bears: Match3 Repairs. In the foyer of Kroger is one of those infuriating claw games…

And inside the infuriating claw machine was Ice Bear from We Bare Bears…

We got our Christmas items and headed over to Biggby for coffee...

When we got home, it was time for the very last day of my Lego City Advent Calendar…

And there you have it. The Lego City Advent Calendar was so much fun. I’m really going to miss putting together a little Lego set every morning…

I hope they do a new one next year. Or I’m going to have to track the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar.

And Mack was on his new dog bed the entire time I was in our studio office…

This happened rather unexpectedly…

We took the dogs out for their evening walk around the block…

Good evening from Northside…

Genifer made a bunch of delicious Christmas cookies…

We wrapped our Christmas presents. Mack watched to make sure I was doing it right…

And we put all of our presents under our tree…

Tonight, we watched The Midnight Sky on Netflix. A movie about outer space with George Clooney. I thought it was good. Genifer didn’t really care for it.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Merry Christmas Eve. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸŒ§οΈπŸ›οΈβ˜•οΈπŸŽπŸŽ„β€οΈ

Special deliveries!

When we woke up this morning, we found Northside got a dusting of snow…

But there wasn’t much snow on the hill at the end of our street…

Time for Lego City Advent Calendar day 15…

Genifer ordered Chipotle delivery for lunch….

Chipotle was delicious. I hadn’t had Chipotle in forever.

Both Arsenal and Leicester played at the same time this afternoon. I kept an eye on both of the matches while I was working…

And both of my teams lost. Arsenal is really in a death spiral right now.

We got a couple of special deliveries today. The first package was from my parents…

And there was a wonderful box of Christmas cookies in their package…

There were so many delicious cookies in that box. We cant wait to try them all. And now we also have presents under our tree…

Thanks, mom & dad! Our second package was from TastesOfChicago.com

And inside were two Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas…

And two huuuuge chocolate chip cookies…

Thanks, JJVE! We can’t wait to try our pizzas and those cookies look terrific!

Later, we took the dogs around the block. It was kind of misty outside this evening…

We couldn’t even see the hill across the way on the other side of the highway…

The hill was just barely visible…

Good evening from Northside…

Today is my Timehop was this photo…

It’s interesting that when I saw this photo my mind went to a completely different place when I saw animal mask than when I saw this originally. And there was this one too…

That would have been the best white elephant gift ever. To this day, I still kick myself for not buying it.

Hi Oscar. He’s so fuzzy!

We had a great Wednesday. Thank you again for the wonderful Christmas gifts.

Pizza with friends.

It was so nice this morning. The temperature was supposed to be in the low 60s today…

Good morning from Northside…

Day twelve of my Lego City Advent Calendar…

Early this afternoon it started pouring down rain though it was hard to tell from our third-floor WyzeCam

It rained for about an hour. And then it stopped just before we went to meet our friends Mehwish and Ben at the only place we really go to anymore because of the pandemic… Taft’s Brewpourium. We met them over there to hang out, catch up,
and of course, have a beer and eat some pizza…

I forgot to take a photo of all of us. I’m so bad at remembering to take a photo when we’re hanging out with people. Or maybe just self-conscious or something. But I did remember to take a photo of our pizzas…

This was Taft’s new pizza, The Fiamma…

It’s their mozzarella with tomato sauce base topped with hot soppressata and hot honey drizzle. And it was a really delicious pizza. It turns out soppressata was less like salami and more like pepperoni. The honey on the pizza was really good. And it was hot warm, not hot spicy. It was a really terrific pie.

TRAIN!

And we saw a beautiful sunset from Taft’s…

We had so much fun hanging out with Mehwish and Ben. It was great to see them, hang out and catch up. It’s been a minute since we’ve hung out with other people.

It ended up being a pretty evening in Northside…

Good evening from Northside…

The NBA preseason started this evening with both my Mavs and Grizzlies playing their first games of the new season. We didn’t get to watch either of their games. We don’t get many of the Mavs or Grizz games on TV. But it’s terrific to know that NBA Basketball is back!

We had a pretty fun Saturday. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸŒ§οΈπŸ•πŸš‚πŸ€β€οΈ

The first snow.

It was another Monday. And Mondays usually mean that it’s going to be another grey and rainy morning in Northside…

And it was cold outside too.

You can’t really tell from these photos but this morning it was raining hard enough that the dogs didn’t even want to go outside on their walk. We had to pretty much drag them out of the house and down to the end of the street so they would potty.

Mondays are tough. I feel like they are the busiest days of the week. When I look back at my photos to do a blog post for almost any Monday, there are never any photos from during the day. There are photos from our morning dog walk and then it jumps straight to photos from the evening dog walk.

And today was no different. This afternoon it started snowing. Our very first snow of the season. The snow was starting to accumulate on top of the cars on our street…

It started really snowing on our walk…

Good evening from Northside…

There was more snow on the Jetta when we got back from going around the block…

But the snow wasn’t starting to accumulate on the grass yet…

For dinner tonight, Genifer made turkey meatloaf…

She also made instant mashed potatoes and I finished the last of the Thanksgiving mac&cheese…

And it was delicious. We ate the entire meatloaf. It’s kind of a bummer because I was looking forward to a meatloaf sammich for lunch tomorrow.

When we got upstairs, I was trying to work on our blog but Flickr was having a case of the Mondays as well…

8 Tonight, we watched Xavier squeak out a win against Eastern Kentucky. Then we fell asleep. We always end up falling asleep pretty early on Mondays. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸŒ§οΈβ„οΈπŸ€β€οΈ

Our new sofa arrived. Finally.

It was a very rainy morning…

In fact, it was raining so much that the dogs didn’t even want to go on a walk. We basically dragged them down to the end of the street to potty.

This morning our new sofa was finally supposed to be delivered. I think we ordered it all the way back at the beginning of August. So long ago in fact, that I couldn’t remember what it was supposed to look like or even what color we ended up choosing. We had the space in our living room all ready…

And then it was here…

And our new sofa is just perfectly splendid…

It’s so nice and stylish and very, very comfortable to sit on. Maybe we’ll actually start watching TV is our living room instead of always retreating upstairs to our bedroom. We’ll see. But we’re very happy with our new sofa.

Today was the start of the college basketball season. I watched Xavier just destroy Oakland. And Michigan hold off a very good Bowling Green team. It’s terrific to have college basketball back in our quarantine lives.

I finished up my projects for the week. And it was time for the long four-day holiday weekend. It was also time to take the dogs on the evening walk around the block…

We clouds didn’t even look real this evening. They looked like a painting…

Good evening from Northside…

Genifer ordered holiday sweaters for Oscar and Mack…

They’re a little snug. But still very festive. Mack didn’t seem to mind his. But you could tell Oscar was mad while he had his sweater on.

We had a few drinks this evening to celebrate our new sofa and because it was the biggest going out night of the year.

But we were still in bed before eleven o’clock. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸŒ§οΈπŸ‘πŸŒ»πŸΎπŸ»β€οΈ

And this photo of Mack showed up in my Timehop today…

And it was a rainy Sunday too.

Bleh. Good morning from Northside…

When I was putting this blog post together, I had a hard time figuring out if these were photos from this morning or yesterday evening. It all just looked the same… very, very grey and awfully damp…

We ran over to Lowe’s this morning…

Lowe’s had all their Christmas stuff out in full force…

Christmas trees are silly expensive at Lowe’s…

It must be the frosted tips or maybe the lights…

We got our artificial Christmas tree for a fraction of that a couple of years ago. We found it on one of those deals and discounts websites after Christmas. And I guess we got a really good deal. I liked this wreath…

We’re thinking about replacing the carpeting in our bedroom with this embossed wood plank laminate flooring in Seaside Chestnut

We want to remake our third floor bedroom to have a coastal cottage feel. Genifer wants to paint our bedroom. Here’s the colors she’s thinking…

And I really liked this rug…

And then we went back to Biggby for coffee

I tried this new Biggby maple waffle breakfast sammich…

It was really good. I would definitely eat it again.

And after some football, it was good evening from Northside…

We watched my Minnesota United host their first home playoff match tonight against Colorado Rapids. Andhe Loons earned their first playoff victory with a 3-0 win over Colorado led by two goals from Kevin Molino…

Take that, Stan Kroenke.

Two years ago, we were in Dallas for Thanksgiving. And I ate the spiciest chicken sammich I have ever eaten. It was so delicious but soooo spicy…

Thanks for the memories, Timehop.

It was just a low-key weekend with all the rain. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸŒ§οΈπŸŽ„β˜•οΈπŸˆβš½οΈπŸ¦•πŸ”πŸ”₯❀️

A rainy Saturday.

The weather forecast said was supposed to be a rainy weekend…

They weren’t kidding. Good morning from Northside…

We dodged the raindrops and ran over to the grocery store…

It’s hard to believe that next Thursday will be Thanksgiving. There were some great Thanksgiving balloons at the store this morning…

They had Christmas balloons too… because why not?

After the grocery, we stopped for Saturday morning coffee at Biggby

It was a rainy day and we all just sort of laid around today…

We ate leftover pizza and watched the MLS Cup Playoffs play-in matches. And another exciting match was sullied by nonsensical MLS officiating when the match went to penalty shoot-outs

And the result was a 22-minute shoot-out that involved the Orlando City’s keeper getting sent off for his second bookable offense…

Upon review, he was judged to have clearly come off his line to make a save…

And he was sent off as a result. After all that on the very next penalty, NYCFC’s keeper came off his line in the EXACT same manner to make the save to force sudden death…

And ridiculously enough, he was not booked. The kick was not retaken. Nothing. Fine as you were. And Bob’s your uncle. But that’s MLS for you. No consistency. It was one of the most unnecessarily bizarre penalty shoot-outs I’ve ever seen.

After all that mess, we took the dogs on a walk around the block…

It was still rainy. Good evening from Northside…

And later we watched Michigan take over 4 1/2 hours and three overtimes to finally get the W at Rutgers

It was a pretty good lazy Saturday despite all the rain. πŸ˜€πŸŒ„πŸŒ§οΈπŸŽˆβ˜•οΈπŸ•βš½οΈπŸˆβ€οΈ

And our basement is still completely dry.
