Happy Saturday!

It’s Saturday! Happy Saturday!

Good morning from Northside…

We ran over to the grocery this morning…

And Ice Bear was still locked inside the claw grab machine…

And there was only one panda and the trains were all sold out…

We always liked 21st Amendment’s Hell or High Watermelon. But we’ve never seen Hell or High Mango before. We’ll have to give it a try sometime…

And we saw this M-43 NE IPA from Old Nation Brewing in Williamston, Michigan over on the other side of Lansing…

I’d never really heard of One Nation Brewing or Williamston before. There were still some football balloons before next weekend’s Superb Owl big game…

And there were some Valentine’s Day balloons…

Bunches and bunches of Valentine’s Day balloons…

We stopped at Biggby for coffee…

And we had a BOGO…

We’re saving our Christmas Biggby gift cards for when we don’t have a free one…

Mmmmm… Biggby…

Arsenal played a nil-nil draw with United. And Xavier resumed their season, picking up right where they left off with a 13 point win at Butler.

Good evening from Northside…

And later it started snowing…

It started snowing kind of a lot for us. We were watching the snow accumulate on our street from our third-floor WyzeCam

We watched The White Tiger on Netflix and then started season one of Unit 42. The White Tiger was pretty good and Unit 42 is just pretty okay. And that was our Saturday It was a pretty happy Saturday. 😀🌄🎈☕️❄️📺❤️

Another great Sunday.

The sky was very pretty this morning…

Good morning from Northside…

We had our normal weekend outing to the grocery…

The Valentine’s Day stuff is out in force…

Both the panda and the train were in the international aisle…

These balloons were very cheerful. I liked the little frog…

And Ice Bear was still trapped inside in the claw grab machine…

We stopped for Biggby coffee

It was time to say goodbye to our Christmas tree again…

We made BLTs with seasoned curly fries for lunch…

Xavier beat Providence with a buzz-beater and Wichita State handled Cincinnati.

The sky was pretty this evening as well..

Good evening from Northside…

This evening we finished Manhunt: Unabomber. It was pretty good. Very interesting.

And twelve years ago today, I got started on Twitter…

I don’t really post a lot on Twitter, or really on any social media anymore. But I sure do scroll through my Twitter feed all the dang time. I wonder how much I’ll keep looking at Twitter after January 20th. This is probably going to help a bunch…

It sounds like it’s already making Twitter a better place. 😀🌄🐼🚂☕️🎄🥪❤️

A Wednesday NYPD Pizza party!

There were more altocumulcus clouds hovering over Northside this morning…

Good morning from Northside…

And it was time for day nine of my Lego City Advent Calendar…

The sun actually came out today…

And then we had the ultra rare Wednesday NYPD Pizza party

We ordered a large Station House supremium™ pizza…

And Nightsticks with extra cheese…

NYPD Pizza parties are so good. Especially on Wednesdays. They never happen on Wednesdays. And after we were done eating all our pizza, we headed upstairs…

We watched Michigan thump Toledo and Xavier thump Oklahoma. Both teams won by exactly 20 points. 😀🌄☁️🍕🐾📺🏀❤️

Headlines are hard.

I feel like coming up with the headlines for these blog posts is the hardest part. Especially when we do the same thing pretty much everyday and every day is pretty much the same.

We were out on our morning walk and the sun just started rising above the trees…

Good morning from Northside…

And the moon was still out too…

And it was time for day two of my Lego City Advent Calendar…

While I was working this afternoon, I listened to the Chelsea-Sevilla Champions League match. And one of my favorite ex-Arsenal players, Olivier Giroud scored all four of Chelsea’s goals.

And fast forward through the rest of the work day to this evening. For dinner tonight, we had another one of the Kroger Prep+Pared Home Chef Express meals. This meal was Hot Honey Pork Chops with shaved Brussels sprouts, corn, and poblano preppers…

And it was another delicious dinner. The hot honey butter on the chops was amazing. The vegetables were really tasty too. The poblano pepper added just a little bit of heat to the veggies. It was another really great meal. We like the Kroger Prep+Pared Home Chef Express meal kits a lot.

And good evening from Northside…

Later, we flipped back and forth between Michigan-Ball State and Xavier-Tennessee Tech basketball games. And both teams won. It was another pretty good Wednesday. 😀🌄🍲❤️

The first snow.

It was another Monday. And Mondays usually mean that it’s going to be another grey and rainy morning in Northside…

And it was cold outside too.

You can’t really tell from these photos but this morning it was raining hard enough that the dogs didn’t even want to go outside on their walk. We had to pretty much drag them out of the house and down to the end of the street so they would potty.

Mondays are tough. I feel like they are the busiest days of the week. When I look back at my photos to do a blog post for almost any Monday, there are never any photos from during the day. There are photos from our morning dog walk and then it jumps straight to photos from the evening dog walk.

And today was no different. This afternoon it started snowing. Our very first snow of the season. The snow was starting to accumulate on top of the cars on our street…

It started really snowing on our walk…

Good evening from Northside…

There was more snow on the Jetta when we got back from going around the block…

But the snow wasn’t starting to accumulate on the grass yet…

For dinner tonight, Genifer made turkey meatloaf…

She also made instant mashed potatoes and I finished the last of the Thanksgiving mac&cheese…

And it was delicious. We ate the entire meatloaf. It’s kind of a bummer because I was looking forward to a meatloaf sammich for lunch tomorrow.

When we got upstairs, I was trying to work on our blog but Flickr was having a case of the Mondays as well…

8 Tonight, we watched Xavier squeak out a win against Eastern Kentucky. Then we fell asleep. We always end up falling asleep pretty early on Mondays. 😀🌄🌧️❄️🏀❤️

Let’s GO X!

I left work a little early today to hop on the Metro Plus…

And I rode the Metro Plus up to Listermann across the street from Xavier…

Here’s what was on tap at Listermann tonight

There I met our friend Chris who happens to work for Xavier. He got us tickets for tonight’s Big East matchup between the Georgetown Hoyas and our Xavier Musketeers…

One of my earliest basketball memories is watching the Big East Conference in its heyday when Lou Carnesecca was coaching Chris Mullin at St. John’s, Rollie Massimino was coaching Ed Pinckney at Villanova, PJ Carlesimo was at Seton Hall, Jim Boeheim was well on his way at Syracuse and… John Thompson was coaching Patrick Ewing at Georgetown.

Fast forward to today and now Patrick Ewing is the head coach of the Georgetown Hoyas and he’s standing right down there on the court of Cintas Center…

By the way, ESPN made an outstanding 30-for-30 documentary called “Requiem For The Big East” about the meteoric rise of the Big East Conference. And how it became one of the most successful college sports leagues in America. Incredible documentary. If you love college basketball and get a chance, it is definitely worth watching.

Xavier trailed by seventeen at one point in the first half. But they went on a run to close the gap to being down just five at halftime…

And Xavier would go on to win the game 81-75!

One of the cool, relatively new features of Cintas Center is the popular Norwood Café, more commonly known as The Woods. Norwood Cafe used to be located at the corner of Dana and Cleneay. It was demolished in 2008 to make room for construction of University Station, including Xavier’s All for One Shop. Renovations to Cintas Center for the 2017/18 season saw the recreation of the cafe on the upper concourse. And they brought in the original 100-year-old cherryback bar that spanned the 35 feet of The Woods’ main gathering space along with a close representation of the tile floor and the original chandelier…

Pretty neat stuff. Here’s a cool video about the renovations. In front of the area are terraces where you can stand and watch the game with your beverage. And we love standing and watching sports. Also cool was the fact that back when Xavier used to have a football team, they were involved in the first doubleheader in college football…

Who knew?! It was a great time. Thanks again to Chris and Tayler for getting us tickets! Let’s GO X! 😀🏀❤️

Dana’s Gardens.

Today was a big sports day. So this afternoon we went with a bunch of friends to Dana’s Gardens just across the street from the campus of Xavier University to watch Xavier play basketball away to the DePaul Blue Demons…

It’s just a great little hole in the wall sports bar. As it turns out, it’s also an official Everton supporters bar. My Arsenal was playing Liverpool this afternoon. So there were no shortage of people pulling for the Arsenal to beat Liverpool. And Michigan was playing Florida in their bowl game. All at the same time. And Dana’s had the TVs to have all those games on. I’m irritated with myself that I completely forgot to take a photo of the inside of Dana’s. But it’s just a little low ceiling dive bar. And like I said, they have a bunch of TVs. They also have really cheap drinks and equally cheap but really great food. It was also one of those places that had a lot of words of wisdom in the restroom…

It was a really fun time…

Xavier beat DePaul by ten but Arsenal got thumped 5-1 by Liverpool. 😀🏀⚽️❤️

Let’s GO X!

We had tickets for this afternoon’s Xavier Men’s basketball game against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. We bought our tickets a while back after discovering how silly cheap you could get tickets for events on  StubHub. Unfortunately, you can’t purchase good weather. It was pouring down rain this morning on our way to the game…

I made it through yet another metal detector without my hips set off the alarms…

It’s been a while since we’ve been to a Xavier game

I don’t remember the player introductions being so cool

We figured out there’s a place to stand up behind the seats. We like standing…

Xavier was leading at halftime…

It was kind of an ugly game. But Xavier won 73-63! That’s three in a row for X!

On the way out of Cintas Center, they gave everyone 20% off coupons at the Xavier team shop. We looked in the shop inside Cintas Center but they didn’t have any sizes…

So we walked down to the All For One Shop. And they had everything Xavier…

We both got Xavier sweatshirts to wear to our next Xavier game. 😀✖️🏀❤️

On our way home, we stopped at Taft’s Brewpourium for a beer, some loaded tots and a pepperoni&sausage apizza…

It was a really fun Saturday! 😀🍕❤️

It wasn’t Cincinnati’s day.

This evening we walked down to Second Place to watch the March Madness Elite Eight game between Xavier and Gonzaga. It didn’t end so well for Xavier. But just like Michigan, Xavier had a great run that far surpassed expectations. At halftime of the Xavier game, the second season of FC Cincinnati officially kicked off away to the Charleston Battery…

And that game didn’t end well for Cincinnati either. FC Cincy dropped the first game of their USL season 2-1 to the Battery. Hopefully, they’ll be able to grab their first points of the season next Saturday away to Pittsburgh. 🙂
