Happy Saturday!

It’s Saturday! Happy Saturday!

Good morning from Northside…

We ran over to the grocery this morning…

And Ice Bear was still locked inside the claw grab machine…

And there was only one panda and the trains were all sold out…

We always liked 21st Amendment’s Hell or High Watermelon. But we’ve never seen Hell or High Mango before. We’ll have to give it a try sometime…

And we saw this M-43 NE IPA from Old Nation Brewing in Williamston, Michigan over on the other side of Lansing…

I’d never really heard of One Nation Brewing or Williamston before. There were still some football balloons before next weekend’s Superb Owl big game…

And there were some Valentine’s Day balloons…

Bunches and bunches of Valentine’s Day balloons…

We stopped at Biggby for coffee…

And we had a BOGO…

We’re saving our Christmas Biggby gift cards for when we don’t have a free one…

Mmmmm… Biggby…

Arsenal played a nil-nil draw with United. And Xavier resumed their season, picking up right where they left off with a 13 point win at Butler.

Good evening from Northside…

And later it started snowing…

It started snowing kind of a lot for us. We were watching the snow accumulate on our street from our third-floor WyzeCam

We watched The White Tiger on Netflix and then started season one of Unit 42. The White Tiger was pretty good and Unit 42 is just pretty okay. And that was our Saturday It was a pretty happy Saturday. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŽˆโ˜•๏ธโ„๏ธ๐Ÿ“บโค๏ธ

A different Thursday pizza party.

It was very pretty all day today. It was really cold. But the sky was pretty all day…

Good morning from Northside…

We broke camp a little early this afternoon to go run and pick up pizza for our Thursday night pizza party…

But tonight, we got Domino’s for our pizza party, and we were pretty excited…

Ohmigosh. It was so good. We love pizza. We hadn’t had Dominos in a bit. Soooo good.

After we stuffed our faces, we took the dogs out around the block…

Good evening from Northside…

And good evening from our backyard…

Oscar has been working on his hedgehog’s nose for a while now. He chews on it almost every night and it’s getting comically long…

He loves that dang hedgehog. It’s one of his favorite toys.

And speaking of favorites, I love the comic book, Usagi Yojimbo. I lost track of it for a while. But recently, I rediscovered just how amazing the graphic novels are. Stan Sakai, the artist who created the series, is one of my favorite artists. I learned so many things about art and drawing from his his comics. I saw on Instagram that Usagi Yojimbo is coming to Netflix

This has the potential to be so amazing if it stays true to the original. I’m very excited. Almost as excited as I was for our pizza tonight. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ“บโค๏ธ

Hello, Ice Bear.

We got up pretty early this morning and it was still a little dark…

Good morning from Northside…

Before we got to work, we ran over to the grocery store because we didn’t feel like going over the weekend…

Ice Bear was still trapped in the claw machine…

And there were some great balloons. I still really like the frog balloons…

And the hummingbird bird was pretty neat too…

And we stopped to get some Biggby Coffee too..

And then we got down to business and knocked out all our work…

Tonight, we watched Snowpiercer on Netflix. We’re pretty late to the game on this one but it’s one of those Dystopian future society movies. We watched it. It was bad. So bad that three days later, we’re still talking about the plot holes in this movie, why they decided to save humanity from another Ice Age with a train that circumnavigates the globe and why that is quite possibly the dumbest way to save mankind. There was talk about putting together a Powerpoint presentation on just why it was so bad just in case this movie ever came up in conversation. I don’t know who we would be talking to, but we’d be ready just in case. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ“บโค๏ธ

Also, come to find out Snowpiercer is a mini-series on TNT starring Sean Bean and Jennifer Connelly? My only question is… Whyyy?! I think we’re going to give that one a hard pass.

Another overcast Monday.

You could tell it was Monday because it was so grey and overcast outside.

Good morning from Northside…

And it was still very overcast this evening…

In fact, it looked nearly identical to this morning…

And good evening from Northside…

We went and picked up some Wendy’s for a gloomy Monday treat for dinner…

Genifer had a spicy chicken sammich. I ordered a Baconator. But we ended up with two spicy chicken sammiches somehow. And that was kind of a bummer because I was looking forward to my burger. But the chicken was good too. And the third bag was full of chicken nuggets, if you were wondering.

I don’t remember exactly what we watched this evening. But I know we watched a handful of movies on Amazon Prime Video recently. We’ve watched Hangman, Widows Point, Death of a Vlogger and 47 Hours to Live, not necessarily in that order. They were all pretty bad. Prime Video is the home of bad movies. There have been a few good ones over the years, but they’re mostly really bad. Death of a Vlogger made just jump a few times. But there are only so many movies on Netflix and with a handful of our sports teams having their season put on pause, desperate times call for desperate measures. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ”๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ“บโค๏ธ

The laziest of lazy Sundays.

It was a rainy Sunday. And we had the laziest of lazy Sundays. This morning we watched the Chelsea and Leicester FA Cup matches. Unlike Arsenal, both teams advanced to the next round.

Good morning from Northside…

We picked up some NYPD hoagies for lunch today…

While we were eating lunch, we perused some VRBO spots…

NYPD hoagies are so good.

And good evening from Northsideโ€ฆ

We watched the NFL playoff games. My biggest fear was that the Packers and Chiefs would both win and we’d have a State Farm Superb Owl. But thankfully, there’s the greatest of all time, Tom Brady…

A day full of optimism.

Good morning from Northside…

We made tacos for lunch…

This afternoon, Joe Biden became the 46th president of the United States, and declared that “democracy has prevailed.” Kamala Harris made history as the first female vice-president, and the first Black person and person of South Asian descent to hold the position. And where we are a deeply divided nation in the midst of crises arguably greater than any time before in our history, there was an optimism and a feeling of hope that had been missing for the last four years. I thought this was pretty funny…

I like gleefreshing. ๐Ÿค—

Good evening from Northside…

We had cheese tortellini for dinner tonight…

And there was garlic bread…

And Genifer made deep dish cookies for dessert…

I put some caramel sauce on my cookie and ice cream cup…

This evening, we watched Sightless on Netflix. It was pretty okay. But today was a pretty great day. And all of a sudden, there’s hope again. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ“บโค๏ธ

And today was the Greatest Palindrome Ever…

A sunny day in Northside.

It was a very bright and sunshiny morning…

Good morning from Northside…

And the sun was out all day today…

Good evening from Northside…

We hadย another one of the Kroger Prep+Pared Home Chef Express meals. This was Swiss Chicken with honey mustard green beans and crispy onionsโ€ฆ

It was another really delicious meal. The cheesy chicken was really terrific and the green beans were really good. I think crispy onions can make anything even more delicious. We like theย Kroger Prep+Pared Home Chef Express meal kitsย a lot.

While I was working this afternoon, I listened to Leicester beat Chelsea 2-0 to go top of the Premier League. And this evening, we watched Michigan bounce back from their first loss by thumping Maryland 87-63.

We had another good Tuesday. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ”โšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ€โค๏ธ

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Today, we remember the legacy of a great man. We honor The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr… a man who dared to dream while standing fearlessly in the face of adversity. We celebrate the man who taught us to dream while still loving others…

โ€œWe may have all come on different ships, but weโ€™re in the same boat now.โ€

โ€œAn individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.โ€

โ€œLove is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.โ€

โ€œOnly in the darkness can you see the stars.โ€

โ€œEverybody can be great โ€ฆ because anybody can serve. You donโ€™t have to have a college degree to serve. You donโ€™t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.โ€

Martin Luther King Jr.

We both had the day off work today for the holiday. It was a cold and snowy day…

Good morning from Northside…

Genifer made cheesy buffalo chicken pasta with garlic bread for lunch…

Good evening from Northside…

I realized when we got to the stairs at the top of the hill at the end of our street that I had forgotten my little fisheye Moment lens

Today, we watched Arsenal beat Newcastle 3-0. And we watched the MLK Day NBA games especially the Grizzlies win over the Suns. I like the Griz. I think they have the best logo in the NBA. It was a very nice day off. And another very low-key, relaxing day. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”โšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ€โค๏ธ

Ohhh… Epic tacos!

There were still snow flurries this morning…

And it was still cold and grey…

Good morning from Northside…

We ventured out to try something new this afternoon, Agave & Rye in Rookwood…

We started with some chips and guacamole…

Genifer loves guacamole…

And it was really good at Agave & Rye. We also started with the elotte…

And we each had an epic taco. Genifer had The Buddha: teriyaki 5-spice tofu, sticky rice, baby corn, water chestnuts, cilantro, green onion, carrots, red bell pepper, Shiitake mushrooms, crispy wontons, sweet thai chili sauce…

I love ground beef tacos. And they’re kind of hard to find out. Agave & Rye had two on their menu. So this time I ordered The Cousin of Vinnie: seasoned ground beef, tomato-vodka sauce, mac n cheese, white cheddar, tobacco onions and queso cushion in between the two taco shells…

Next time, I’ll try the other ground beef taco. Their tacos were amazing and huge. And they had a bunch of interesting sounding tacos on their menu.

Everything we ordered was delicious…

Agave & Rye had a whole bunch of arcade game that would have been fun to play…

But we’re still in the middle of a pandemic and I didn’t want to touch anything…

Agave & Rye was incredible. Everything was delicious. Their tacos were huuuuge. And we left so stuffed. I think we just found our new favorite taco shop now that Django Western Taco has moved out of Northside.

When we got home, we took the dogs out around the block…

And it was still cold…

Good evening from Northside…

We ended up taking a nap. And later, we watched the NFL playoff games…

I was happy to see Tom Brady win. I was sad to see Drew Brees lose. And I thought the refs jobbed the Browns. How did they miss this helmet-to-helmet hit? Most likely, it cost the Browns a touchdown and they would end up losing by 5 points. Next weekend, I’ll be cheering for Brady and the Bills. Because nothing would be worse than a State Farm Superb Owl with Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. I don’t really care for either of them very much.

But anyway, we had a really great day with some epic tacos! ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„โ„๏ธ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿˆโค๏ธ

A cold & snowy Saturday.

It was a could and snowy morning in Northside…

Good morning from Northside…

We went over to the grocery this morning. It counts as our Saturday activity…

Both the panda and train were on the shelf today…

And the football balloons still dominated the balloons…

And then we got coffees from Mad Llama

JAVA WHIPS!

After that we were pretty lazy…

We still had some flurries this evening…

Good evening from Northside…

You can see the snowflakes on Mack’s head…

We had a Kroger flatbread pizza for lunch with Caesar salad. It was really good. Somehow, I didn’t take a photo of it. I don’t remember what we had for dinner.

But we had tiramisu for dessert…

Michigan got thumped by Minnesota. And we watched Outside the Wire on Netflix. It was pretty good. We had another good pandemic Saturday. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŒจ๏ธโ„๏ธ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ“บโค๏ธ
