COVID-19 Carryout: Taft’s Brewpourium.

We stopped at Taft’s Brewpourium on our way home…

We ordered Taft’s weekend special again. Large pizza and a growler for just $27…

We added two salad this time too…

Taft’s has some of my favorite pizza and beers in all of Cincinnati. πŸ˜€πŸ•πŸ₯—❀️

COVID-19 Carryout: Taft’s Brewpourium.

After working on our front yard this afternoon, we ran over to Taft’s Brewpourium to support one of Northside favorites…

On Saturdays and Sunday, Taft’s Brewpourium has a special for a large two-topping pizza and a growler for just $27

Our pizza and growler was ready and waiting for us…

Our growler was filler with one of our favorites, Taft’s Hazy Colada

We also picked up a six-pack of Taft’s new beer, Love in the Tub

It’s a peanut butter mocha pie stout. It was incredible! And proceeds went to Taft’s Team Relief Fund to help currently out of work employees…

Our large pepperoni and sausage pizza was incredible too…

And we ate the entire thing. The Brewpourium is one of our favorite places. And we’ve missed it so much. We’re going to have to get another New Haven style pizza again very, very soon. πŸ˜€πŸ•πŸ»β€οΈ

Our last trip to Taft’s Brewporium?

Despite the world starting to spiral into a pandemic-induced panic, we went out for pizza tonight at our favorite pizza joint, Taft’s Brewpourium. Hamilton County and Cincinnati still don’t have any confirmed cases of the Corona Virus. But you really wouldn’t know it because we practically had the entire Brewpourium all to ourselves…

And little did we know that it would be the last time we’d be dining out at a restaurant for the foreseeable future…

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced on Saturday that the Ohio Department of Health issued a Director’s Order that will close all Ohio bars and restaurants to in-house patrons, effective at 9:00 pm, March 15, 2020. Restaurants with take-out and delivery options will still be able to operate those services, even as their dining rooms are temporarily closed.

Our world will probably never be the same after the Corona Virus. But hopefully, we can get Taft’s delicious New Haven-style pizza again sometime soon. πŸ˜€πŸ•πŸΊβ€οΈ

Sam Adams Taproom.

We couldn’t decide wanted we wanted to do after work for Valentine’s Day. We had planned to go to Django Western Taco after work. But we weren’t really very hungry. We wanted to stop somewhere. So we just stopped at Sam Adams Taproom for a beer and a pretzel. We really like Sam Adams. They have great beers, giant pretzels and it’s right on our way home…

I had their Mountain Berry light ale aged on raspberries and blackberries…

Genifer had Samuel Adams Oaked Vanilla Porter. Both beers were really good…

Sam Adams used to just have their giant pretzels. Then they added chips & salsa. And now they’ve added a few more menu items…

Genifer still got their giant pretzel…

The giant pretzel is always so good and so giant. I tried one of their Cincinnati Coneys…

Cincinnati chili and queso mixed together on top of a hot dog? Yes, please!

Their coney was outstanding. It was really good. The beer cheese queso and chili combo was delicious. We had one of one Sam Adams I Like Porters. And then we headed for home. We really like Sam Adams Taproom. πŸ˜€πŸΊπŸ₯¨πŸŒβ€οΈ

Four years ago.

Four years ago, we ventured out to check out Northside on one of the snowiest days of the year. (Remember when we used to get snow?) And we visited Northside Yacht Club and Urban Artifact for the first time…

Thanks for the memories, Timehop. πŸ˜€πŸ¦•β€οΈ

Almost National Pizza Day.

This afternoon we went over to Taft’s Brewpourium for another lunch with our gift cards we got for Christmas…

We got their BBQ chicken wings too…

And we had one of Taft’s terrific Hazelnut Latte Coffee Milk Stouts…

Only come to find out later that tomorrow is National Pizza Day. I guess we just got too excited and celebrated the delicious holiday early. πŸ˜€πŸ•πŸ”β€οΈ

Another rainy Saturday.

This morning we woke up early again to head over to Trader Joe’s before it got too crazy busy on Saturday. The later it gets, the busier it gets. We usually try to get to Trader Joe’s as close to 8am when it open as we can. This morning was our best time
so far. We pulled into their parking lot at 8:02am…

I just thought that little berry bunny was pretty cute. We didn’t get any frozen chocolate cover strawberry pieces though. I wonder if they would be good?

After we were done getting groceries at TJ’s, we headed over to get our Saturday morning coffee at Biggby

Biggby is our reward for getting up and getting groceries out of the way. We both got hot chocolates this morning. Biggby had more student artwork on display on their walls. I really liked the hills with the watercolor skies…

The owl and the elephant were really great too…

And if we had a daughter and named her Niala…

She would be Niala Fiala. Maybe Niala could be a middle name.

Later, we went over to Taft’s Brewpourium for another lunch with our gift cards we got for Christmas…

Taft’s had a new Hazelnut Latte Coffee Milk Stout on tap…

And it was really delicious. We watched the Michigan-Illinois game on our little tablet. We shared a small pizza with pepperoni, sausage and banana peppers…

We also shared some of Taft’s chicken wings…

We had six buffalo wings and six Cherrywood BBQ wings…

I think I really like the Cherrywood BBQ the best. But they’re both really good. And even though, Michigan lost. Again. It was a great lunch. We just love Taft’s pizza and wings.

Later, we started watching a series called 11.22.63 on Hulu. It’s pretty good so far. And even though it was another rainy day, it was another pretty good Saturday. πŸ˜€πŸŒ¨οΈβ€οΈ

My Untappd 2019 year in beer.

Untappd also put out a year-end recap, 2019 year in beer. This is Genifer’s…

And here is mine…

These were my numbers from 2018…

Screen Shot 2019-12-31 at 1.13.44 PM.png

These recaps are always interesting to me. The full version on Untappd had much more detailed information. It was pretty cool. For example, we checked-in beers at 43 unique venues in five states…

Screen Shot 2019-12-31 at 1.09.27 PM.png

Untappd said we also checked in beers at 25 breweries this year…

Thanks, Untappd! πŸ˜€πŸ»β€οΈ

Our Boxing Day.

Today was Boxing Day. This morning we watched Arsenal draw with Bournemouth in Mikel Arteta’s first match in charge of my favorite club.

After the match, we walked down to Django Western Taco for lunch. I had one of Chef Josh’s amazing fried chicken tacos. We also shared Django’s amazing jerk chicken quesadilla with some Django chips and salsa. And when we were done with lunch, we shared Django’s Belgian chocolate bread pudding…

Everything was really good, as always. But the bread pudding was just incredible. I’ve had a love affair with bread pudding ever since my second hip surgery. We had never tried Django’s bread pudding before. Now I’ll get it every time we eat at Django. Or every time I feel the need some amazing bread pudding.

After we were done at Django, we walked down Hamilton Avenue to Higher Gravity. We hadn’t been to HG in a quick minute. But JJVE gave us a gift card that we thought we would put to use a little bit before the start of the new year while we were still on our holiday break…

The best beer we tried in our taster flight this afternoon was Founders French Toast B@stard Scotch Ale

It was a pretty amazing beer. Very tasty. We watched our Leicester City get thumped by Liverpool. And while we were at HG, we bought our tickets for Higher Gravity’s New Year’s Eve Beer Bash.

Later, the sky was really pretty when we were walking the dogs. It’s not every day you see beautiful night-time clouds…

When we got back from our walk, I put my scarf on Oscar and I think he really liked it because he wore it around until we went upstairs…

And when we got upstairs, we watched some of The Witcher on Netflix. It was a pretty good Boxing Day. πŸ˜€πŸ₯Šβ€οΈ

Wiedenmann’s fine foods.

We stopped back at Wiedenmann’s fine beers in St. Bernard for lunch today…

We had another one of their delicious German Chocolate Cake Imperial Stouts…

Genifer ordered their Caesar Wrap…

And I had their Wiedie Burger…

Both the wrap and the burger were both really good. The burger was huge for a 1/3lb. We really like Wiedenmann’s beers and now we really their food too. πŸ˜€πŸΊπŸŒ―πŸ”πŸŸβ€οΈ
