Today was a good day.

We got coffee from Sidewinder this morning and they spelled my name with two D’s…

Grey gave us the afternoon off for Easter weekend. Thanks, Grey!

This afternoon, we ran over to Genifer’s office to pickup a laptop. And on the way home, we stopped to get Skyline carry-out for lunch…

Hello, delicious cheese coneys…

Ohmigosh. We haven’t had Skyline in forever! It was sooo good. And later this evening, we ran down the street to Northside Yacht Club

We picked up some Miller High Life’s and some of NSYC’s famous peanut tequila…

Cheers to the weekend! We wished we would have had the peanut butter tequila for last weekend’s Front Porch Pours. We just hung out, had some drinks and listened to music tonight. It was a good day. 😀☕️🧀🌭🍻🎶🤗❤️

We survived another week of shelter-in-place. Four weeks down.

Front Porch Pours.

A Cincinnati experiential agency came up with up with the idea of Front Porch Pours

We’re keeping the Cincinnati connection strong by collectively gathering for a city-wide distant socializing happy hour, Front Porch Pours.

To “attend” guests will need a Porch Pours party kit. We’ll send you everything you need, — including, themed cocktail recipes, an exclusive playlist, invitations to send to your friends and neighbors, and more!

Why are we doing this? To create unity in a distant community. To strengthen our city bond by doing the same thing at the same time, but in different places. This isn’t a city-wide virtual call in. It’s more than that. It’s communal without digital. Being present in the moment, together.

We want everyone to join in. From OTR to Oakley, Sayler Park to Hyde Park, Westwood to Winton Hills, neighbors in all 52 hoods will kick open their door, post up on their stoop and throw back a cold one.

We walked down our street to visit with our neighbor friends Kelly and Greg. I forgot to take a photo but Genifer got one later in the evening…

And when we got home, we found a Xalapa from One Well Brewing in Kalamazoo…

All things considered, it was a pretty fun Friday night. 😀🍻❤️

One year ago today.

One year ago, I watched the start of March Madness at work on my iPad and iPod…

And then after work, we stopped by Queen City Radio to watch some more hoops…

And we shared a delicious Whip Classic burger…

Mmmmmm, Whip Classic. I can’t wait until we can have a Whip Classic again.

And Opening Day was only SIX days away…

Oh good times. I really miss sports. Hopefully, they’ll start again soon. 😀🏀🍻🍔❤️

Our last trip to Taft’s Brewporium?

Despite the world starting to spiral into a pandemic-induced panic, we went out for pizza tonight at our favorite pizza joint, Taft’s Brewpourium. Hamilton County and Cincinnati still don’t have any confirmed cases of the Corona Virus. But you really wouldn’t know it because we practically had the entire Brewpourium all to ourselves…

And little did we know that it would be the last time we’d be dining out at a restaurant for the foreseeable future…

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced on Saturday that the Ohio Department of Health issued a Director’s Order that will close all Ohio bars and restaurants to in-house patrons, effective at 9:00 pm, March 15, 2020. Restaurants with take-out and delivery options will still be able to operate those services, even as their dining rooms are temporarily closed.

Our world will probably never be the same after the Corona Virus. But hopefully, we can get Taft’s delicious New Haven-style pizza again sometime soon. 😀🍕🍺❤️

It was a great Saturday.

This morning started with some coffees from Biggby Coffee

YUM! Biggby has terrific hot chocolate. I love mine with some butterscotch added to it.

After we had our drinks in hand, we stopped at JackRabbit in Obryanville

At last year’s Higher Gravity Spring Grove Beer Gallop, Genifer won a $125  gift certificate towards a brand new running shoes from JackRabbit. And with this year’s Spring Grove Beer Gallop right around the corner, Genifer thought she’d better get some new running shoes…

Genifer got these Brooks running shoes…

These terrific running shoes only cost her $25. And that’s pretty awesome.

Later, we ran out to get lunch at Freddy’s Steakburgers

Ohmigosh. I love Freddy’s Steakburgers….

I think I’ve finally zeroed in on my go-to Freddy’s order. I think it’s going to be the original double. This is the original double with bacon…

But next time and into the future, my order will be just the original double with fries…

I used to get the triple steakburger. Sometimes I could do it. But sometimes, it was a real struggle and it was too much. Freddy’s also has a patty melt that is really good. But it’s not like a traditional patty melt. But it’s still really good.

On our way home for Freddy’s, we stopped in College Hill at Brink Brewing. Brink is one of my favorite Cincinnati breweries…

They have such great beers. Our big beer was a King Cake beer. It was awesome. Brink always has something really interesting on tap.

And that was pretty much our Saturday. We were pretty happy that we actually got out and did something on a Saturday…

And it was a great Saturday.

A rainy Cincinnati Saturday.

It was really warm this morning with temperatures hovering in the mid-60s. But it was supposed to rain all day. And it pretty much did.

Before it started raining this morning we got up and ran over to Biggby for weekend morning coffee

We saw on Biggby’s Instagram that they had a BOGO offer just for today…

My new favorite go-to drink is Biggy’s Cocoa Caramella hot chocolate with a little bit of butterscotch added to it. It’s a great drink. And I really prefer hot chocolate to coffee. The caffeine makes me feel too jittery.

We watched some of the soccer this morning. My favorite club, Arsenal drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace and my other favorite club, Leicester City lost to Southampton 2-1. The last time Leicester and Southampton played, Leicester thumped the Saints 9-0.

We hung out upstairs and I worked on some work stuff until the dogs let us know they wanted to go on another dog walk…

Later when it was time for the other football, we took the Taft’s gift cards we received for Christmas around the corner to the Brewpourium for some pizza and wings. Taft’s had a peanut butter version of their Maverick chocolate porter on tap…

And it was really terrific. We usually get Taft’s Cherrywood BBQ wings but tonight we tried their buffalo wings. And they really good too. Pretty spicy but really good. So good, in fact, we had already eaten half of the wings before I remembered to take a photo…

And we shared a small pizza with pepperoni, sausage and banana peppers…

Taft’s pizzas are so good! When we were leaving, the Brewopurium was getting crazy…

Apparently, there was going to be a comedy show in the back of the Brewpourium. When we got home, we walked the dogs around the block again in the rain…

We watched a pretty dumb movie on Prime Video and then fell asleep while we watched the rest of the other football playoff game. It was a pretty good Saturday. It would have better if I didn’t have to work on a bunch of work stuff. 😀☕️🐾🍕🐔🌧️❤️

Our New Year’s Eve.

Tonight, we walked down to Higher Gravity for their New Year’s Eve celebration

We had some tasty beers…

And we got to hang out with some of our friends…

It was a really fun New Year’s Eve! We hope every had a happy, fun and safe New Years Eve. And that your 2020 is a very good one. 😀🍻🥂🎆🎊🎉❤️

Our Boxing Day.

Today was Boxing Day. This morning we watched Arsenal draw with Bournemouth in Mikel Arteta’s first match in charge of my favorite club.

After the match, we walked down to Django Western Taco for lunch. I had one of Chef Josh’s amazing fried chicken tacos. We also shared Django’s amazing jerk chicken quesadilla with some Django chips and salsa. And when we were done with lunch, we shared Django’s Belgian chocolate bread pudding…

Everything was really good, as always. But the bread pudding was just incredible. I’ve had a love affair with bread pudding ever since my second hip surgery. We had never tried Django’s bread pudding before. Now I’ll get it every time we eat at Django. Or every time I feel the need some amazing bread pudding.

After we were done at Django, we walked down Hamilton Avenue to Higher Gravity. We hadn’t been to HG in a quick minute. But JJVE gave us a gift card that we thought we would put to use a little bit before the start of the new year while we were still on our holiday break…

The best beer we tried in our taster flight this afternoon was Founders French Toast B@stard Scotch Ale

It was a pretty amazing beer. Very tasty. We watched our Leicester City get thumped by Liverpool. And while we were at HG, we bought our tickets for Higher Gravity’s New Year’s Eve Beer Bash.

Later, the sky was really pretty when we were walking the dogs. It’s not every day you see beautiful night-time clouds…

When we got back from our walk, I put my scarf on Oscar and I think he really liked it because he wore it around until we went upstairs…

And when we got upstairs, we watched some of The Witcher on Netflix. It was a pretty good Boxing Day. 😀🥊❤️

Christmas in Pleasant Ridge.

This afternoon we drove over to Pleasant Ridge to go to Overlook Lodge and check out their annual Christmas extravaganza called Miracle at the Overlook Lodge

We’ve heard that Overlook goes a bit overboard with their holiday decorations…

The drinks on their seasonal menu sounded fantastic…

I started with their Christmas Carol Barrel and Genifer their Snowball Old-Fashioned…

Cleve and Alyssa joined us for a drink. For our second beverage, Genifer had their Jingle Balls Nog and I tried the Yippie Ki Yay Mister Falcon…

All the drinks we were really tasty. Genifer loved their nog, and my favorite was the barrel. After finishing our drinks, we walked down the street to Revolution Rotisserie to grab a bite to eat…

I had their chicken pot pie special and Genifer had boneless wings…

Delicious stuff all around. It was another really fun evening over in Pleasant Ridge.
😀🎅🎄🥃🐔❤️

Grey Midwest’s Holiday Party.

Grey Midwest rented out all of 16-Bit Bar+Arcade in OtR for our Holiday Party

I didn’t take many photos at the holiday party at all. But it was really fun. I’m glad we went. There was all sorts of amazing little foods, lotsa drinks, some socializing and a whole bunch of button smashing. We beat the Final Fight video game. We played some Spy Hunter and a bunch of Rampage. Rampage was my jam back on Sega Genesis. I’m a little bummed I didn’t get to play any Dig Dug. A while back we were out with a friend of ours, and she had never heard of Mortal Kombat. Can you believe that? It’s crazy. There were like three Mortal Kombat games and even a couple of movies. Anyway, there was Mortal Kombat 3 right there…

We stayed at the party until it ended. After the party, we dodged the raindrops to walk around the corner to Longfellow’s Other Room for a couple of rum cocktails…

So. Much. Rum…

And then we hopped in an Uber and headed home. It turned out to be another pretty fun Friday night out in Over-the-Rhine. 😀👾🥃❤️
